Chapter 5: School?! Uh No... I Don't Think So!

~ Nia's POV ~

I woke up around five in the morning, when I usually would go outside the cave to run. But I was indoors.

It took a second to recall that I had moved in with the Autobots, and that I had to finish unpacking. How did I even pack all this stuff so fast?!

I looked around the cluttered room. I heard all of the Autobot's footsteps from here, and for being five in the morning, it was pretty hot. Back in my house with Grim, my room would be covered in my crystals, since they could turn the room completely sound proof. No one could hear what I was doing inside, nor, if I wanted too, could I hear the outside. Plus, it was like having an AC on!

I quickly decided to cover my entire room with a thin layer of my crystals, afterwards turning them invisible. The crystal molded around everything, so it looked and felt like nothing changed.

After I was satisfied with the quietness of the room, I started to finish my unpacking. The room already had a queen sized bed, a dresser, a closet, some shelves, a desk and a chair, so all I had to do was organize my stuff.

----------------------------

(Time Skip)

After a good two hours of unpacking, I finally finished settling in. I let out a soft sigh, and sat down on my chair. I looked around my newly furnished room, and took note of everything.

My bed had some dark purple covers, with silver lining, I had left some instruments near or on the end table, my closet and dressers were filled with clothes, I had put a fluffy purple rug over the secret hatch (which was in the center of the room), I filled the shelves with knick-knacks and books, put my art supplies on my desk compartments, put my laptop and a camouflaged holographic keyboard on top of my desk and put my painting easel on the corner with a small stool right in front of it. I had put some canvases near the wall, since they didn't fit anywhere else. I had also managed to find a mini fridge, so I connected it near my desk. The room was kind of dull, so I decided to paint it over later.

I quickly changed into an orange tank-top with a multicolored crop-top over it, some slightly torn jeans, and a pair of black sneakers. I had never taken off my bracelet, in case they could pick up my energon signature, so I put my black leather fingerless gloves over it.

It was only 7:30 AM, and I was already hungry! I decided to get some organic food, so they wouldn't get suspicious. But then, I realized that there may not be any organic food. I went over to my door, thinking of what to do. I decided to hold off, and ask Optimus if I could go out to get some food later. But for now, I wanted to go explore the base.

I quietly left my room and started walking around the base, making a mental map of the hangar while I wandered. It was actually pretty large for a hangar, especially if you notice the outside if a normal hangar.... Huh. Oh well!

I kept exploring the base until it was ten in the morning. I found out that it extended a lot more underground, and there were a bunch of extra rooms. I even found a Cybertronian sized training court down here! Anyways, by that point, I was really hungry, so I went upstairs to find Optimus or Smokescreen.

When I went into the control center, I found Ratchet, Bee, Arcee and Smokescreen all staring at the main monitor. It seemed pretty quiet though. Then, it hit me; 'Where are the humans?!' I looked around the center, but they were not around there, I then walked into the catwalk and looked around from there, but they were nowhere to be seen. I quickly decided to ask the Autobots if they knew where the humans were.

"Good morning, guys! Hey have you seen the others? I can't find them anywhere..."

When I said that, all of the mechs present leaped five feet into the air. Only Arcee remained un-phased.

Pretty much leaving me and 'Cee chuckling at the guy's behavior.

"Morning Nia, did you need something?"

Arce was chuckling while she asked me this, since the boys were trying to act it off as a test. I'm telling you, a mech's pride is everything to them! In between chuckles, I answered.

"Y-yeah, but where are the others?"

"The kids are at school, and the other 'Bots are on a scouting mission."

"Ok, hey I was wondering if there was anything to eat around here?"

Arcee seemed to be confused for a second, but she quickly realized what I meant.

"There are a few snacks on the mini-fridge, but we could go out to get ya something, if you'd like."

I started to think it over, but my grumbling stomach decided for me. I smiled sheepishly before answering.

"... Take out it is."

-----------------------------------------------

(Time Skip to 3:45 pm)

After I ate my food, we went driving through the desert that is known as Jasper, Nevada. We were driving for a while, because next thing I know, Arcee is yelling 'Scrap!' and turning in a complete 360° angle back to Jasper. She sid something about being late to pick up Jack... Not sure though.

After a quick drive to the school, we picked up a very pissed off Jack, who had apperantly been out waiting for Arcee for half an hour. Now, my opinion? I just think he's grumpy.

The ride to base was pretty chatty and quick. So when we got there I wasn't that suprised that it had only been a few minutes since we left the school. And since I still had plans for my room, I quickly went there to finish up.

On my little road trip, I had picked up a couple of paint cans, so I could paint over my room. I decided to paint the walls dark purple with black detailings, and I'd paint something fun on the ceiling with some fluorescent paints. With all that planned, I quickly got to work.

-----------------------------------------------

I stepped back to admire my work.

The walls were a nice dark shade of purple and the trimmings were black. But while decorating, I found some silver paint, and started painting different swirls and patterns on the walls, giving a nice feel to it.

But what was most breathtaking in the room, was the ceiling. I had painted the universe up there with the fluorescent paint I got, and it looked awesome! That was with the lights on, it would be at it's full glory when the lights were off.

I decided I was done for the day, and went down the secret hatch to my little lounge. I had finished digging it out when I was unpacking, and set everything up so no one could pick up my energon signature.

I decided to start stocking up on a bit of energon, so I opened a portal, and walked through to my cave. I only brought back a few energon crystals, but it was enough for now.

I looked around the small room, and started making crystal-like furniture for the room. At the end there was a couch on the left side of the room that was facing a nice coffee table with my comm crystal sitting on top, a hammok hanging from the ceiling, a small table with a chair, a nice little kitchen, a pretty big safe to put the energon, and plenty of room to make a portal. It was perfect!

As soon as I finished up, I went back up and went to the main part of the base to see what the others were up to.

Jack and Raf were playing a videogame, Miko was rocking out with Bulkhead, Bee was talking to Arcee and Smoke, and Optimus was with Ultra Magnus and Ratchet.

I decided to watch Jack and Raf battle it out in Super Smash Bros Brawl. We took turns playing, so when it was my turn, I was fired up. I was gonna play with Jack.

"Prepared to be destroyed, Jack!" I said, while starting up the match. I picked Zelda, just cause, and Jack picked Bowser.

After destroying Jack at Brawl, I went up against Raf, whom annihilated me.

"What?! How?!" I stuttered, amazed that he beat me with a Toad.

"He's the king of Brawl!" Miko yelled over the sound of her electric guitar. Raf just did a little victory dance.

We kept playing for about an hour before an alarm went off. It took all of my self control to not cover my sensitive ears and whimper in the corner. Instead, I sat still, clenching my teeth and shutting my eyes tight. A minute later, the alarm stopped, and a booming voice filled the room.

"PRIME!!!!" A... Rounded afro american man stepped through the elevators with an unhappy look in his face.

"Yes, Agent Fowler?" Optimus had turned to face the grumpy human, which apparantly is named Fowler, and paid him full attention. I, on the other hand, started zoning in and out of the conversation while trying to beat 'Bee's high score on a racing game.

I only started listening when Fowler started yappin about the battle on the Amazon. I heard that apparently, it was a vehicon that decided to blow up the mine.

'Huh, well I guess that solves the mystery of who was the scrap-brain...' I thought to myself.

After a long speech of who knows what, Fowler took notice of me. I was actually impressed by how oblivious he was during his scolding speech.

"What in Sam's hill?! What is another civilian doing here?!"

"Agent Fowler, this is Nia. She had found Smokescreen by accident, and the Decepticons destroyed her home. She is now living here, where we can protect her." Optimus was gesturing towards me as he said this, and Fowler's right eye was twitching. It was pretty funny! So funny, in fact, that I had to hold back the giggles that were about to burst out.

"Has she been in another school before? Because the least you could do is get her a proper education." The question was directed at Optimus, but I was the one who answered.

"Homeschooled!" I pretty much yelled from the couch. They all looked at me funny, but shrugged it off.

I tuned out for the rest of the conversation, so when Fowler called for me, I lost concentration and lost my chance at beating 'Bee's highscore.

"Aww, Come on! You made me lose!" I said with a small growl that, thankfully, went unnoticed. Fowler just rolled his eyes at me.

"Haven't you been listening, kid? You are going to attend Jasper High with Jack, Miko and Raf. I will take you there later, so we can register you."

My jaw literally dropped. I am going to school?!

"School?! Uh, no. I don't think so." I can't believe this! No, this has to be a mistake! Why the pits would Fowler want to put me in school?!

"Don't worry. The kids will be there." Smokescreen was trying to calm me down. I did not do good in large crowds. Just, no.

I finally gave in, and nodded. I walked up to the three humans who were staring at me with large grins on they're faces.

"You guys better help me once I get in there!" I warned them.

They all nodded and let me go to my room to prepare.

I was silently worried as I walked into my room. Not only was Fowler taking me to the school to get registered later, but Jack's mom is taking me supplies shopping immediatly after (Don't ask. I swear that woman is not human...). I am pretty sure that I have never been in a mall before, and as I mentioned, I do not mix well in large crowds. I pushed those problems aside for a second, but a repeated thought burst into my mind. "How am I going to sneak out long enough to search for it?" I shook the question off once more. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

I decided I needed to relieve some stress, so I hung my punching bag in the center of the room, and started practicing my fighting moves. I punched the bag repeatedly, giving it perfect deadly blows. I kicked the side, not on my full strength so that I wouldn't take off it's hinges, but strong enough to leave a dent on three feet of solid metal. I finally gave in to my instincts, and gave it an awesome flip kick that threw the still-attached punching bag straight through the room and to the door, leaving a nasty dent on the door and the wall next to it.

"Oh, great. Ughh, I have to learn not to kick the bag so hard..." I muttered under my breath as I headed to check the damage. I quickly fixed it with a few good whacks of a hammer, and headed back to my bed to stare at the ceiling. I had turned off the lights, so the ceiling was glowing in every color the universe offered. It was very beautiful, and I was very proud of it. Just then, a knock on my door informed me that Fowler was waiting outside. 'Well, time to go.' I thought before heading outside to meet Fowler and Ms. Darby.

------------------------------

"Ok, we'll head over there first, then we'll go over to that store to get her some new shoes, then we'll have to go over there to get the supplies" June was explaining where we were going to be to Fowler, as I sat at the back of the car. I was pretty much staring off at space, thinking. Fowler already registered me at Jasper High, and I would be starting tomorrow since the school year had already started. So we were going from store to store getting all of the stuff I needed, and the first stop was: Clothes shopping.

June and I walked into the store and searched through the various shirts, pants and accessories. I found a few items that I liked a lot, like a black leather jacket and some black military like boots.

"Can I get these too?" I asked while holding up the boots and jacket.

"Sure, is that everything your going to get?" I nodded quickly, and with a small smile we headed to pay for my clothing.

After paying, we went to the bookstore to get the rest of my supplies. Turns out, I didn't need a lot of stuff from there, because we got everything in the blink of an eye.

We kept shopping until the sun started to set on the horizon. I was more than ready to get back into the base, I swear, my legs are about to give out! But, we had to go to a few more shops before we left.

-----------------

I listened quietly to the radio while June and Fowler chattered in the front. We had left nearly at 9 o'clock and I was getting a bit drowsy. I was pretty bored, so I started looking out the window. I have to admit, even Earth's deserts look beautiful in the night! I was so caught up in the masterpiece of the night sky, that I didn't notice that we had arrived at base.

"Come on Nia, you have to get some sleep before your first day of school!" June snapped me from my trance, and I finally noticed that we had arrived at base.

"Ok, I'm gonna grab something to eat before I doze off..." June nodded and let me go to the base while she carried some of my bags. I went straight to my room and opened the mini fridge that I filled with snacks earlier. I grabbed some granola bars and a pear and went down to my hangout to get some energon. After I ate my snack, I washed up and got ready for bed, but before I went to sleep, an idea floated into my mind.

'Hey Bro. How ya doing?' I could practically feel the happiness rolling of him! Oh wait, I can.

'Nia! What have you been up to?'

'Nothing much. Just shopping till my legs gave out'

'Well, that sounds fun.' At this I let out a chuckle. The sarcasm in his mental voice is just so obvious!

We started chatting through our bond about random topics, and a couple hundred of bad puns. We must've been talking for a while, because when I checked the hour, it was nearly 12:00 pm!

'I've got to go, bro. I'll talk to you tomorrow!'

'Ok, goodnight Nia.'

With that, I went to bed. Tomorrow is going to be an... Entertaining day.
