Chapter 3

Still Dragon's POV

I woke up to the sun on this planet shining in my eyes, and I looked above the railing to see that it was just rising, or it was dawn, and I was ready to train. I haven't trained in two-hundred thousand years due to being stuck in those chains for that long. Though I didn't eat, I got my nutrients from the poisonous air, the 'ground' I was on, the chains holding me prisoner, and the metal of the blades used for my torture. I jumped down and into the back-yard of the place before putting up a force-field about a hundred feet in length around me so that nothing else got hurt, and then I focused on my powers and formed a shadow of myself, literally. It knew all of my moves, used different things, used and did what I did, and copied my every move. That's why it was so hard to battle, because it was my shadow. I swiped through the air with my left paw and it did the same. I did a quick turn and lashed out with my tail and it paralleled my strike...good, so I grew to the size of a three-by-three grid of semi's and started to fight.

3rd POV

Clary was awoken by a loud rumble that made a book from her shelf fall to the floor with a boom. She got up and grabbed his sword just as a precaution before sitting on her bed and waiting for some yelling, screaming, or rumble of sound, but the thump just came again and again like an earthquake. She got out of bed and followed the vibrations to the courtyard, and she stood there for a second looking out for something unusual, and then something slammed against the air in-front of her. It was the shadow that the Dragon was training with, but she didn't know that, she tried to cut into it, but the force-field rippled and forced her away. She saw a run in the air in-front of her, and started to walk forwards through the force-field. IT felt like she was passing through a wall of gel, but she didn't care. At least until she got to the other side of that wall anyways, and she saw the Shadow on-top of the Dragon and she stood there in shock. The Dragon looked at her and the shadow looked the other way like it was copying the Dragon, or at least to Clary that is what it seemed like. The Dragon was covered in cuts from it because only a fatal blow would harm, well, kill the shadow mirror that the Dragon was training with, and though it would act exactly like the Dragon. The mirror couldn't be harmed unless killed by it's creator, and once the Dragon saw Clary, who was frozen in a mixture of fear, shock, and curiosity.

"What do you want Angel-blessed" the Dragon suddenly said to her, breaking Clary out of her trance of amazement, and then the Dragon and it's mirror disengaged and the Dragon walked sideways, and the Shadow copied, and then the Dragon backed up until it was at Clary's side.

"What is that" she asked it and it chuckled making the shadow mimic it's movement.

"That is a Shadow, my shadow, and I am using it to train" it said silently adding 'since I haven't been able to in two-hundred thousand years' and it looked at her careful of it's steps "You should've stayed on the other side of the field angel blessed, and now you won't be able to get out, and no one will be able to get in to help you if you are injured during my sparring, in which I am not responsible for and you need to know that" it said and then it looked at her "unless the angels decide to help you get back out, but I doubt they will because they like to help human curiosity, even if it kills the studied."

The dragon shot ahead and met it's shadow halfway, and they seemed to all out brawl, but really it was just the dragon trying to figure out a way to get past it's own techniques. For several hundred years it's done this and not found any way past, but it hasn't been able to find anything. The Dragon let out a wave of fire into the shadow's 'mouth' and waited hoping that that would do something, but it didn't and the shadow was still there mocking the Dragons helplessness...seemingly anyways. The Dragon huffed in annoyance and so did the Shadow, but a jet of fire came out of it as it did and the Dragon pushed away and got clear of it as it turned the grass underneath to ash.

"Shouldn't armor be helpful" Clary said and the Dragon laughed shaking it's big head.

"No, you see a shadow's attacks aren't effected by armor, because with armor there is a perfect area of darkness underneath, and I haven't seen a set made of angel-light yet, and one especially built for a dragon is completely unlikely" it said and Clary seemed to figure something out.

"Wait you're a dragon?" she partially yelled "I thought that they only lived for a couple hundred years, were demons to the deepest part of their soul, and crumpled into bone and ash when killed" this caused the Demon to roar and light-up with rage. This incinerated the shadow and the Dragon was about to shoot into Clary's face about that insulting statement, but it not seeing it's shadow copying it's every move caught it's interest. The Dragon slowly padded over to where the shadow was and touched it, making it unravel and connect to the Dragon again as an actual shadow cast un the ground by the sun. It then went over to the shield and bashed it's head against it, until the shield crumbled and shattered around them.

"I'm so stupid" It growled to itself "I should've figured that trick out CENTURIES ago, but nooo the stupid chains had locked that part of my powers away. I HATE YOU ASMODEUS. Stupid Demons and their twisted ways of diminishing power for their own liking."

"Um, why are you yelling like that" Clary said "you do know that since the shield is gone, people can hear that, right" the Dragon nodded and looked at her with it's burning silver eyes.

"I would be mad at you for insulting my race like you did, calling us Drakon and Hydra, but now I'm mad at something else over that. Something that I should've figured out how to do a LONG time ago" it said, and Clary was confused, and about to ask about how she insulted it. Then Simon and Jace appeared with a weapon, and the Dragon shot off not wanting to cause drama about trying to explain itself, or have Clary explain what it and she were doing at the moment. The Dragon was still trying to figure-out a way to ask her how she could see it moving at it's top speed, and it was unnerving that the others get there every time it wants to ask the question about it. Clary looked back at the others in annoyance and a little anger before yelling.

"What was that for, we were just talking" she said pushing Jace back with her hands, and he put his sword away and spread his arms in defense.

"I--" he was cut off by a 'we' from Simon "-- was just protecting you"

"Protecting me from what, a creature that just want's to talk peacefully" she said and Jace scoffed "I doubt it, it's probably just trying to use you for it's own power-hungry needs"

"Yeah, well who was there when you got captured and experimented on, huh? Me" she yelled "I was there for you, what have you done?"

"I don't know, saved you from vampires, werewolves, seelies, and your own father" Jace said and Simon was just standing by uncomfortably watching as the two destroyed each-other. Then Clary stormed off in one direction and Jace watched her for a second before huffing in annoyance and heading the other direction. Simon ran after Clary, who was now in the middle of the hallway leading to the main room, and touched her shoulder. Which she just brushed off before turning around to look at him.

"What do you want Ja--" she stopped once seeing that it was Simon "oh it's just you, sorry, or do you want to say insulting things to me as well"

"No, but I do agree with Jace, it could be using you to gain information about you, and then use it against you" he said and she scoffed and turned away before continuing to walk, but Simon stayed with her "what you can't deny that it's a possibility, especially after your father used me against you to lure you into capture." Clary stopped, and then she turned to him with a torn mood.

"Then what do you want me to do? Do you want me to ask if it's intentions are pure with an oath" Clary asked and Simon was slightly amazed that that was an actual thing, but he nodded, and she scoffed but didn't go anywhere. Simon put a hand on her right shoulder gingerly, and reassuringly.

"Hey at least if it doesn't effect it, then that means that we have nothing to worry about, and I'll convince everyone else to stop guarding you from it, okay" he said and Clary nodded.

"Fine, but this is going to be my way, and how I want to do it, okay" she said and Simon took a step back and held up his hands in innocence.

"Okay, I'm not regulating or telling you how to do it" he said before lowing his arms "but at least you'll know if it means harm to you or anyone else we know, okay"

"Yeah, I guess so" Clary said and then Alec came up upon them and he wanted them in the office for a mission to find this new creature and find out what it is and what it wants. Exactly what Jace didn't want her to be doing, finding the creature and talking to it alone "and Simon is going with you, as well as me and Magnus"

"Wait, why are you guys coming as well?" Clary asked

"And why am I coming? I thought that you guys didn't want vampires going on missions with you guys because we're all untrustworthy and stuff" Simon said and Alec didn't know what to say other than...

"I want you to come with because you have proven to be an ally and a welcome asset and friend, and me and Magnus are coming with because we are going to go and talk to the Ironmaidens about meeting with it with us as well. Again" he said and then added "since our last meeting wasn't so good." Then they all got ready, Magnus had come and met up with them just as they were leaving, and once they got the Ironmaidens to join them, specifically the leader and a few others as her guard. They were on their way, tracking, or trying to track, the Dragon and it's whereabouts.
