twenty - five
Bomin stared at his computer screen as he studied the photos in front of him as he laughed under his breathe. It was photos between Hyunsuk and Mina together in public a few times that were times that Hyunsuk hadn't contacted him for a few days afterwards. There was a knock on his door as he quickly closed his laptop and adjusted his shirt before turning to his mother who was coming inside. She smiled gently as she cleared her throat before speaking up, "Time for dinner."
Bomin sat down in the middle of the quiet as Myungsoo picked at his food as Somi was busily scrolling through her social media pages. Their father was still in the study room as Bomin's mother went to the study room to remind him about dinner. Myungsoo rested his back against the chair as he looked up to glance at Bomin, who was avoiding his gaze.
"So, I heard that your fiancé is flirting around with a different man."
Bomin rolled his eyes to himself as Somi turned her attention from her phone to the pair as she bit her lip quietly to not butt into the conversation. Bomin turned his head to face his brother since the atmosphere was getting cold as ice. Somi turned her attention towards an useless piece of cup that was placed in front of her as Bomin replied back cheekily, "I heard your business isn't going as well."
His older brother's face started to turn stone-faced as he didn't like how Bomin was still all talks. He ignored the glare from his brother as Somi tried to lighten up the mood, "Wow, it's been awhile since we all got together to eat dinner."
Bomin appreciated her somewhat innocence to help the atmosphere become less darker than it was turning out to be. He turned his attention towards the entrance of the dining hall as his parents were approaching the table. Myungsoo glanced at the entrance before scoffing to himself as his father was being seated into his seat. They all waited for him to start eating, as it was the rule of showing respect, and Somi smiled happily as she exclaimed, "Father, I got you a gift."
Their father glanced his attention up at Somi, whose eyes were glistening with love and hope. But he turned around and ordered his soup to be heated up once more, which left Somi's comment unanswered. Her mother apologetically smiled before she spoke up, "That's wonderful. Your father was stressed these days due to the business-"
"Choi Bomin."
The conversation of consoling the youngest was completely interrupted as Bomin looked up to look at his father directly as he replied back slowly, "Yes Father."
"You're either getting married by the end of this month. Or you will be revoked of your inheritance."
"What?! That isn't part of the deal-"
Mina angrily threw her hands up in the air as her father replied back with a loud slam, "You are going to get married or else you will be stripped of your inheritance!"
She watched in horror as the teacup shattered as it hit the ground, creating the atmosphere to frost immediately between all the family members as Daehwi and his mother were quietly snickering with each other. Hanbin tried to reason out with his father that the marriage might negatively affect the public's opinion, but Jeonghan cut him off as he spoke up brazenly, "I perfectly agree father."
Mina shot him an angered glare as Jaemin tried to calm her down by tugging her sleeve gently as Jeonghan placed his teacup down on the coffee table in front of them, "I think that she needs to quickly get married. It's a shame that she will lose her inheritance and probably some stocks to the main business."
Daehwi then added to the conversation to add more fuel onto Mina's rising heat inside her body, "You better clean up that boy that you're meeting noona. You don't want the public to really be after you."
His mother soon agreed along which made Mina's father shush them down for their unnecessary addition to the conversation that he wanted to deliver to his family. He glanced at Mina who was angrily eyeing the two of the members before he made her look at him, "You are the only princess in this family. You need to be blessed by marrying the man that will give you everything. Quit that job this instance, and you need to get rid of that boy you are meeting. Bomin's family will give you everything you want."
"How can you say that about marriage? Ah, I see. You got something in return, didn't you? You sold me off to a marriage that you will benefit from selfishly-"
Jaemin stared in horror as he immediately stood up to protect his sister as their father slapped her on the face. Hanbin stood up afterwards as well to coax his father as Mina held her hand gently to her throbbing cheek as the tears ran down her eyes as Daehwi gasped dramatically to worsen her mood. Jaemin shot him a glare to quiet down as he stood in between his father and his sister, as he angrily spoke up, "I will not let you touch my sister like this, even if you are our father."
"Kang Jaemin, you better sit-"
"No. We were born together and we are to be inseparable. I don't appreciate you hitting her for when words could be spoken. I won't stay still father."
He finished the conversation as he then ordered one of the maids to bring ice upstairs to his bedroom. He walked off with Mina quickly up the stairs as Hanbin tried to calm his father down so that the twins made their way up the stairs quickly to escape the immediate hell. Jaemin hugged his sister tightly as she cried helplessly into his shoulder as the maid arrived with an ice pack.
Picking up his phone, Hyunsuk felt a little empty since Mina would visit always since she needed to but also she find her comfort and peace working there. But that didn't take place anymore since she didn't call or text him for a few days as he was getting pretty worried. Bomin stopped contacting him as well, and he was starting to worry whether or not there was something happen between the two of them. He glanced at the messages that they last sent as he then tossed his phone aside and laid back down on his bed.
He shook his head as he tried to remind himself that he should get ready to head off to work. But a part of him was getting comfortable hearing the doorbell ring when he was about to leave since Mina would arrive whenever he would leave for school. But that didn't happen for a few days, and he didn't really realize that he wanted to hear it ring.
"I can't."
He shook his head to himself and repeating it over and over again. He knew he couldn't. He got the money and everything is to be just the motive to follow what Bomin had planned from the start. But slowly, he knew that it was wrong to feel something that he was not supposed to feel whenever he opened the door for Mina to enter.
