sixteen
Upon their arrival, Hyunsuk has really played the part well as he opened the door for Mina and had her arm linked around his. They walked down the hallways of a different hotel to eat some seafood as Mina wanted some. All eyes were on them as Hyunsuk's soft features radiated beautifully between the pair. Walking around the hallways, everyone couldn't keep their eyes off of the couple as they arrived to their reservation.
As expected, Hyunsuk took some photos of Mina for her so that she can upload it into her social media. Hyunsuk was slowly getting used to it after getting some few practices as holding hands, feeding Mina, and smiling all the time was really something that he wasn't really that used to. He hasn't dated for a while so he didn't exactly feel that uncomfortable.
Mina herself was having quite fun on the contrary as she was always doing things alone without her brother or without much friends around. She only really contacted Bomin a lot due to them scheming all the time. On the other hand, Mina was quite thankful that Hyunsuk accepted the offer since he is actually someone who listens to her well. Maybe in the later on times, she can offer him a secretary job when she opens her own hotel.
After their date, Mina drove the pair to an open lake where she ordered Hyunsuk to buy some coffee for them as the night was getting a little chilly. A few hours passed ever since their little restaurant date and she was well aware that the paparazzi is well on the hunt for the couple. The evening sky was now glistening with little stars as they found their comfort onto the grass in front of Han River.
They were both sitting on a little blanket that Mina would carry around in her car so that she would keep herself warm. But currently, it was being used as a mat as they both sipped their coffee and stared out towards the glistening, bright river. The silence was apparent between the two as Hyunsuk turned around to ask the other quietly, "Why do you want to do this?"
Mina strummed her fingers against her cup as she doesn't mind answering the question. She replied pretty quickly, "Everyone thinks that you need to be married to someone to be stable. I don't believe that. I don't want to be tied down to a thing called marriage where you are to be with one person your entire life. I never met anyone that I wanted to be together for that long- heck, I don't even want to be next to my twin brother for that long."
Hyunsuk blinked quietly as he listened well as the other kept rambling on that she had no interest in getting married because she rather felt comfortable being alone and independent. He knew that it would be a difficult task on trying to win the other's heart because she seemed determined to not really fall in love or get settled down with someone.
Hyunsuk listened quietly and obediently before Mina asked him with a strikingly similar question, "Do you want to get married to someone?"
Hyunsuk placed his empty cup on the grass next to him as he rested his arms against his knees as he responded back with a sigh, "I have no idea. I don't have the confidence to date and marry someone while trying to maintain my own life. I like the idea of it, but I have no clue whether I can carry it out."
"I guess we have a similar mindset on things."
Mina proclaimed as she hugged herself quietly since the cold wind of the night was slowly seeping through. Hyunsuk let out a small laugh before he took off his jacket and placed it on her body so that she wouldn't catch a cold and complain to him nonstop. Mina scoffed gently as she didn't seem to refuse the jacket as she hugged it closer to her body, "Suddenly you're the greatest boyfriend I see."
"I have to do my part well in order to get the deal in place."
"Well, don't need to try too hard for that. I think we have enough evidence."
"How long must we continue this on for?"
"Until my father realizes he cannot contain me anymore...and until my mother gives up on trying."
Hyunsuk quietly nodded to in response as they both silently stared out towards the scenery. A phone call interrupted their silence as Bomin was calling Mina as she groaned in response. She placed him on speaker phone as she asked with annoyance, "What do you want now?"
"Our families are wanting us to get dinner altogether and discuss the engagement party. I already said that we were busy and that you seem to not be invested into our engagement. I managed to push back the meeting, so good luck when you get home."
Mina shrugged her shoulders and replied with a laugh, "Easy. Too easy."
Hyunsuk nervously stared at the cellphone as Bomin said some other things that are business related as he then started to think quietly of how the life of the children of chaebol families are. How much do they really take advantage of others just to benefit himself. He felt so stupid to be stuck in the middle of it all, and he knew it was too late to go back now. He now had to run with it or else he won't even get to support the members of his family.
