Chapter 4

Soraru stared at the group who just entered his house, confused for a few seconds before realizing who they were.

"Ah aren't you guys—"

"Eh?!? Soraru's your brother?!? THE Soraru?!? The infamous delinquent at our school?!?" Amatsuki cut Soraru off as he shouted questions at Sakata.

Soraru glared at Amatsuki for cutting him off, resulting in the other to shrink back.

"Yeah he is, I thought it was obvious??" Sakata answered, though it sounded like a question. He was confused as to how this was shocking.

"Oi idiot, it's not obvious. How are we suppose to know you have a brother if you never mention them. You two seem nothing alike." Urata said exasperatedly at the red-haired male.

Soraru turned his glare to Urata when he heard him call his brother an idiot but Urata just returned the glare back. He didn't like Soraru not one bit, it was mostly because of how he got into fights with other people and with his behavior he seemed like someone who picks on the weak, which is something Urata doesn't like. They glared at each other with the same amount of dislike and untrustworthiness.

"Wow, you can cut the atmosphere with a knife," was Shima's only comment on the situation.

Mafu just stared at the person at the bottom of the stairs, not bothering to make any statement or comment. Senra just watched in amusement as Soraru and Urata were having a glaring contest and Amatsuki bombarding Sakata with questions. He had enough of their foolish behavior and decided to speak up.

"Nice to meet you Soraru, I'm Senra, this is Mafumafu, Urata, Amatsuki and Shima."

"They're the ones who defended me from the 3rd year yesterday." Sakata smiled at Soraru, ignoring the glaring contest between Urata and his brother.

He walked up to Soraru and hugged him with the smile still on his face. Soraru turned to look at him and his expression softened as he patted his younger brother's head.

The sight caused Mafu to smile. So he isn't that bad. After all if he was, he wouldn't be acting nice at all. Senra and Shima joined Mafu in smiling at the scene. After a moment of silence Sakata backed away from the hug like he realized something.

"Ah what am I doing!? I still have to make the curry and give you the medicine." Sakata rushed to the kitchen, not before taking the bags from the table.

"Aren't you going to help me Senra and Mafu?"

"We're coming," Senra replied as he pulled Mafu out of his trance from Soraru and walked towards the kitchen. Sakata's loud voice can be heard from it.

"Niichan you better go back up stairs to your bed or sit down on the couch!"

Soraru could only give a small smile before replying to his younger brother. "I know, I'll go rest," he plopped himself on the couch at his brother's command.

Urata, Shima and Amatsuki decided they might as well sit down too, seeing as the others are cooking. Let's hope Senra stops Mafu from putting in energy drinks in the curry, Urata thought. As much as he dislikes Soraru, he doesn't want Mafu to poison or potentially kill someone.

The living room was filled with silence, the only noise being heard were the voices belonging to the people in the kitchen. After a few more minutes of awkward silence, Soraru spoke up, just loud enough that the three of them in the living room could barely hear it.

"Thanks for defending him."

Urata jumped a bit at the sudden voice and then calmed down once he realized it was Soraru. He noticed the raven-haired was laying down on his stomach with his head in the couch pillow. He looks so different than he is at school. He looks almost weak.

Urata had trouble understanding the situation that he was in, it's not everyday you go to a supposed delinquent's house to make him medicine cause he's sick. Amatsuki decided that he should be the one to break the silence, Urata was grateful for him.

"It's not a problem. We weren't just gonna let that 3rd year do whatever he liked. I mean looking at how the event played out, if we didn't help then we'd be the one to face your wrath for letting him get even more hurt." Amatsuki said the last line jokingly, causing Soraru to let out a laugh.

"Yep."

"But you were pretty intimidating, even more than usual. I seriously thought that guy was a goner."

"He would've been, had I not decided that Sakata's injuries were more important to attend to than wasting time on that pathetic piece of shit."

"Wwww so scary."

Urata looked at Amatsuki who was having a normal conversation with Soraru, who didn't seem to mind talking, he moved his attention to Shima who joined in on the conversation as well. Urata just can't seem to get a grasp of understanding Soraru.

While the brunette was banging his thoughts across him mind, trying to figure out the raven-haired male, he snapped out of his thoughts once the redhead barged into the living room and almost dropping the curry in his hands.

Sakata hands it to Soraru, who got up so he can be in a sitting position. Senra and Mafu follow behind him and sit down in the living room, with Senra next to Shima and Mafu sitting on the floor. The green-eyed brunette watched the red-haired male spoon feed his brother, who was embarrassed at the gesture of being babied by his younger brother.

Urata noted that Sakata would always smile and look at the better things. I mean he doesn't mind having a delinquent as a brother. He really is an idiot. Urata then realized that he's used the word 'idiot' more often than before, probably because Sakata has crossed their path. He looked at the two siblings talking to each other.

"There niichan, you managed to finish the curry for once."

"I'm just hungry, I mean I didn't eat anything at all today."

"Well now you did thanks to your best chef Sakata." Sakata proudly said as he put a hand on his chest and puffed it out to prove his point.

"You had Mafumafu and Senra help you cook."

"Eh..b-but I still helped make sure it tasted good."

"Doesn't matter, anything my little brother makes will taste good."

"Not to break this touching moment but aren't you gonna give Soraru the medicine?" Shima asked as he saw Sakata open his eyes in realization.

"You're right. I forgot about the medicine," Sakata grabbed the medicine and gave it to Soraru.

Once he was done, Sakata went to put it away. Sakata then sat down next to Soraru and then looked at the others as he asked them a question.

"Thanks for the help but what are you guys going to do now?"

"Probably go back home, actually what time is it now?" Amatsuki asked Mafu, who took out his phone to look.

"It's just about 1:20 pm." Mafu put his phone back and decided to ask, "we still have time before going back home so we might as well just hang out with you guys, if that's okay?"

"Yeah you guys can stay here for awhile," Sakata replied, ignoring the quiet "oi" next to him. "We have some games we can play since niichan loves to spend his time playing them."

They spent 3 hours playing games in the living room. Urata was in the lead in Mario Kart while Soraru, Mafu and Sakata fought it out in the back with Shima, Senra and Anatsuki watching in amusement at their friendly rivalry. They played Smash and other games until they got bored. They talked about nonsense with Soraru just listening to them, not bothering to join their conversation.

"Can I ask you guys a question?" Senra looked at the two brothers for a response.

"Yeah."
"Sure..."

"I was just wondering why you've been calling Soraru niichan but at school you call him Soraru?"

"Oh well you see..." Sakata fidgeted a bit, figuring out what he should say. "We decided that I call him Soraru at school to avoid any problems."

"How come?" Mafu titled his head in confusion.

"It's so people won't target me. People back then would try to bully me or hurt me to get back at niichan cause I'm his brother. But since people don't know we're related they don't hurt me as much."

"But you're still getting bullied even without them knowing." Urata said, just as confused as Mafu.

"But back then it was worse. I'd come home with injuries and I'd be ambushed by people. Now it's just petty bullying like pushing me, and even then I'm not getting bullied at all."

Urata and Mafu stayed silent after Sakata's story. They don't know if what they're doing is good, lying to people to think they aren't related, that would just start even more rumors that would cause more harm.

On one hand Sakata isn't getting that injured as he said he was before but on the other hand people are still labeling and picking on him just because he hangs around with Soraru. Soraru must've noticed their silence because he sighed and spoke.

"They aren't bullying him anymore. I just threaten them to cut it off and then they stop. Simple."

"That's it? You just threaten them?!? That's basically just bullying them back!" Urata barked back at Soraru in a harsh tone that surprised the others.

Soraru just stared at the brunette with a blank expression that irked Urata even more.

"You really are as the rumors say. Cruel, cold, harsh. You don't even care about others, you're just a hypocrite if you think threatening them is better. Yep just like a delinquent." Urata was full on glaring at the male next to Sakata, how can someone so nice be related to a cold, heartless person.

Even if Soraru did act nice at some point and tries to protect Sakata, that doesn't excuse him of still threatening people, it'd make things worse than before.

Soraru was glaring at Urata before he got up from the couch. Everyone in the room flinched at Soraru's movement. They were afraid of what could happen next. Amatsuki was about to move in front of Urata, in case Soraru thought of punching him but didn't once he saw that Soraru was walking towards the stairs.

"Have fun with your new friends Sakata. I'm going to go back to my room to rest." He walked up the stairs and soon they heard a door close shut.

The living room was suffocated with silence as Urata silently cursed at his own bluntness.

"Please don't misunderstand niichan. I know it's not okay to threaten people just to protect me but that's all he can really do. Even if we go to the guidance counselor, he can't do anything because the other kids' parents would just try use niichan's behavior as an excuse to make the guidance counselor expel niichan. Trust me we've tried before when I was in middle school. Niichan already has a lot on his plate."

Urata turned to look at Sakata, who was fidgeting his fingers. Sakata continued talking, spilling out some background and information about the rumored delinquent, about his brother.

"You guys know how niichan arrives to school late, well it's because he has to go to his job. He works multiple jobs to support us and sometimes the jobs call in saying they need his help in the morning so he goes to get some more money."

"So he arrives late because of work?" Shima could understand that since he works too and knows how he sometimes has little time to relax.

"Yep. And the injuries he has are sometimes from his job and other times it's from fights. The fights he often into only happen because people think he's a delinquent wannabe and believe that they can beat him to prove that he's just a weak kid. Some of the fights are from people who bullied me and, as you saw before, niichan gets pretty mad if I'm involved."

"Don't you know how to defend yourself. I mean you look like you're fit and athletic. You were doing awesome when we played soccer." Amatsuki pointed out.

"I take kendo so I know how to fight and defend myself."

"So then why—"

"Because I'd just cause problems for niichan. One time someone was talking bad about him and I lost it so I punched him in anger. At the office the guy's parents were arguing with the guidance counselor, telling them to expel me and niichan because they think he's a bad influence on me. Niichan just stayed silent as the adults argued. They spitted hurtful words and verbal attacks on him, but he did nothing except look at my injuries from the fight. I'd just trouble him so I decide not to get into fights so niichan doesn't have to worry about people yelling at him."

He's so innocent and kind, Mafu thought as he looked at Sakata, who seemed to be on the verge of tears. So there is something more to Soraru than just a delinquent, he's a delinquent with a big heart, wanting to protect those he cares about.

"Ah— Sorry for talking so much. I kinda just ranted." Sakata laughed sheepishly as he looked at the others.

They were silent, not knowing what to say. Mafu just felt bad for the both of them, he understands how evil people can be. Senra and Amatsuki looked at him with eyes full of pity, Shima was wondering how people can talk like that towards kids and Urata was conflicted on how he should feel and think about Soraru.

"I guess we should get going," Shima decided it would be best to leave the brothers alone, "plus it seems like they overstayed their visit."

He got up from his seat, Senra following and soon all of them got up and said goodbye as they walked back home, all except for a certain albino and green-eye brunette.

Sakata looked at Mafu and Urata, wondering why they didn't leave yet. He saw looked at the clock and saw that it was 5:49. He turned towards the two, hoping they'd say something to break the silence. Urata finally spoke up.

"I'm sorry, I still don't like Soraru but I kinda relate to him with wanting to protect people he cares about." Urata took a glance at Mafu, who seemed like he understood what he was trying to say.

"Mafu was bullied before and while the others were there to support him and push him forward, I threatened people in an attempt to stop them from hurting Mafu. I guess what I'm trying to say is that looking at Soraru, it reminds me of my past self that I hated."

"........"

Sakata didn't reply, he just looked at the stairs, as if hoping that his brother would come back down to hear Urata apologize. He never liked arguments and rumors, they always hurt people and break up close friendships.

"Well we should go now Urata. Thanks for letting us stay a little. Hope Soraru gets better."

They left after that, leaving Sakata alone in the living room. He sighed before rubbing his eyes to get rid of the tears threatening to come out. So much for spending time with his brother and friends, but at least tomorrow was Sunday so he had another day, assuming Soraru felt better the next day. With that thought in his mind, Sakata walked towards his brother's room.
