(Diana POV)

Do I like her..? I thought, biting my lip.

I steal another glance at her as my cheeks get even hotter.

Yup. I sigh, placing my book down.

I look up at her again as I notice her looking my way.

She smiles and offers me a wave. I timidly wave back.

"Hey, Diana!" she calls from her lunch table.

"H-Hi.." I say, trying to control my racing heart.

"Do you wanna sit with us?" she says, gesturing to her friend group.

I nod, slowly standing and moving my stuff to an open seat across from Akko.

"Hey Akko!" Andrew, her boyfriend, called as he plopped down beside her.

I felt jealousy well inside me as he slung his filthy arm around her, placing a kiss on her head.

"Hey Andrew..." Akko said a bit sadly, a fake smile on her face.

"Look babe, I gotta get to practice but I'll see you around." Andrew said, standing and turning to leave.

"Okay!" Akko said, sighing in relief as he left.

Well that was weird...

*Timeskip (Akko and Diana are walking home together)*

"Hey, Akko?" I questioned.

"Hmm?" she hummed, looking up at me.

"Is something wrong? You can trust me, yknow?" I say, placing my hand gently in hers.

She sighed.

"It's just... Andrew. He... he yells at me a lot. And tells me that I'm getting fat... I try to tell myself he knows best but his words hurt sometimes and I just-" by this time she was sobbing uncontrollably.

I held her close to me, stroking her hair as she cried into my shirt.

"Listen, Akko... If he treats you this way and it hurts you... Why don't you just leave him? Escape those toxic thoughts?" I ask as she starts to calm down a bit.

"B-Because.. H-He loves me and I-I know he d-doesn't mean to hurt me.." she says quietly against my chest.

"Do you love him?" I ask.

"W-What?" she asks, looking up at me.

"I said, 'Do you love him'?" I repeat, cupping her face with my hands as I wipe her tears.

"I... no. I don't..." she whispers as she lightly shakes her head.

We lock eyes as our faces inch closer.

"Because I love you." Akko whispers right before our lips connect.

Although the only lasted a few seconds, it felt like it went on for eternity.

As we pull apart I hear footsteps running towards us.

"AKKO YOU B**CH!" Andrew yells as he slaps her full-force across the face.

"I-I'm sorry!" Akko pleads.

"YOU F***ING HOMO! YOU'RE MY GIRLFRIEND! NOT THIS TRASH!" he angrily points to me.

I've had enough.

I launch myself at him, giving him a right-hook across the face.

I knock him to the ground, punching him quickly in the stomach as I grab Akko's hand.

I take off down the street to my house, tugging Akko in and locking the door behind me.

I go to my freezer for an ice pack, helping Akko place it against her slap mark.

She places her hand atop mine, smiling shyly at me.

"Thanks, Diana." she mutters.

"No problem." I say back with a smile.

"No, no one's ever stood up for me like that. I can't thank you enough." Akko says, looking me in the eyes and causing me to blush.

"Then.. You're welcome." I say through my blush as we continue to lock eyes.

Suddenly, she wraps her arms around my neck, inching closer to my face.

I wrap my arms around her waist as our noses gently brush.

"I love you."
"Kiss me." We say in unison.

Our faces ignite with blush before our lips finally connect in a passionate kiss.
