(AU where Croix gets defeated but neither she nor Chariot were involved with Luna Nova after graduating)

(Croix POV)

I sat in my cell, awaiting my punishment.

Chariot came walking up to me, a sad, longing look on her face.

"What do you want, Chariot? I've already admitted defeat, come to rub it in my face?" I say, turning away as a few tears prick at my eyes.

I hear Chariot sigh right before the sound of my cell door opening.

I look over at Chariot, who had streams of tears across her face. She began sobbing and I stood up in alarm.

She threw her arms around my neck, sobbing into my shoulder. I wrap my arms around her, stroking her hair as I cry silently.

"Chariot, I-I..." I start, my lip trembling. She squeezes me tighter, her arms trembling.

She stops crying, looking at me with puffy, red eyes. I gently wipe her tears as she grabs my hand, holding it against her cheek as she cries once more.

She finally stops, holding both my hands tightly. "C-Croix... T-They said they were gonna..." she pauses, taking a deep breath, "K-Kill you..."

My eyes widen; My heart racing.

"Then we run away." I say quietly.

She looks at me with wide eyes. "W-What?"

"Me and you, Char. Let's go! We can be free, together!" I say, hugging her tightly as I bite my lip.

"Okay, Croix. Let's go." Chariot says after a minute.

I lean in, kissing her passionately as she tenses. She slowly begins kissing me back, smiling into the kiss while her fingers comb through my short hair.

I pull back, smiling widely.

"So Croix, how are we gonna get out of this place?" Chariot says, looking around at the dungeon walls.

I snap my fingers as I think of an idea. "Chariot, come back around midnight tonight. There'll be a small time gap where the guards switch shifts. We can go then!"

She beams, nodding violently. "Okay! I'll be back tonight!" Chariot says, quickly pecking my lips before running out of my cell and down the hall.

*Timeskip to around midnight*

I was pacing around my cell, my wand (which Chariot had swiped for me) in my shaking hands.

"*insert random spell-sounding phrase*!"

I heard Chariot call as footsteps began sounding towards my cell.

"Go!" she whisper-screams, grabbing my hand as we run down the hall.

We make it out of the building, standing at the roof's ledge. Chariot grabs her broom, hidden until now in the vent, and pulls me on behind her.

My arms wrap tightly around her as she revvs away, sirens blaring as they most likely found my cell empty.

We make it out of sight, landing in a field about 80 meters away.

"We did it!!!" I yell excitedly, running and jumping around happily.

Chariot comes up behind me, wrapping her arms around my waist and smiling into my neck.

I lay back in the field, wheat stalks gently brushing my face as I gaze up at the stars.

Chariot lays beside me, locking her hand in mine.

I smile, knowing that at least tonight, we were safe, alone, and most importantly, we were together.
