Alone
(Diana x Depressed!Akko
Idk why but this idea just popped into my mind so I'm writing it before I completely forget lol)
(Diana POV)
There's this girl in my class who I've never seen smile.
And I'm always checking.
No one in school has ever heard her speak before, either.
I don't even know her name!
"Hey." I greet as I walk up to her in the library.
She looks up at me slowly, and offers me a small wave.
"Can I sit here?" I ask, gesturing to the seat next to her.
She shrugs so I just set my bag down on the floor and sit beside her.
"I'm Diana." I say with a smile.
She pulls out a piece of paper and a purple gel pen.
Akko. She writes, sliding the paper a bit so I could read.
"Its a pleasure to make your acquaintance." I internally face palm at how stupid I must sound.
Same here. She smiles softly at me, yet the smile didn't reach her vacant eyes.
"Would you like to hang out after school?" I ask, feeling am urge to spend more time with the pretty girl.
My place or yours?
"Yours. If that's alright with you." I say, biting my lip nervously.
She nods and grabs her bag just as the bell rings for our next class.
~~~
I wait near the front entrance for Akko, smiling brightly when I spot her among the crowd of students milling out.
"Hey!" I greet her brightly.
She waves back, a small fake smile in place once more that causes mine to become a frown.
Why was she so unhappy? Anyone could see it.
We walked in silence to her small apartment and walk inside.
There was a box TV, an Xbox 360, and a small blue sofa occupying her living room.
"Nice place." I say, glancing around at her filthy, cracking walls.
"Thanks..." she says quietly as my heart nearly explodes on spot.
Her voice was enchanting.
"I, um, uh..." I'm stunned, unable to come up with an intelligible response.
She giggles softly with a sigh as she plops onto her couch with a squeak.
"I know, my voice tends to put people off... I'm sorry..." she said in the same hushed tone.
"What? No! I mean, uh, I love your voice!" I say quickly, taking a seat beside her and turning to face her.
"Oh..." Akko said, nodding slowly.
I watch her as she fidgets with her hands, biting her lip as though she's deep in thought.
"Diana..." Akko says suddenly, turning her gaze to mine.
"Yes?" I ask, staring deeply into her crimson eyes.
"I..." she leans forward and my breath hitches in my throat at our closeness.
"Just... Thank you. For being my friend and everything." she turns away with a blush.
"O-Of course! You're actually really... cool." I said, though I could think of a million more words to describe such a perfect girl.
"You think so?" Akko's tone was joking, but you could see a glimmer of fear and hope swirled in her eyes.
"Definately. You're wonderful, Akko." I assured her, placing my hand atop Akko's in the brunettes lap.
"I know that's not true, but thanks for the sweet lie. I really do appreciate you trying to make me feel better." Akko smiled softly, gazing down at the hands in her lap.
Why would she think I'm lying? I bit my lip in confusion.
"I'm not lying." I said firmly, squeezing my hand against hers.
She shook her head with a quiet laugh.
"No. If anyone's wonderful it's you, Diana. I'm just... me." Akko shrugged glancing the opposite direction from me.
I cupped her cheek in my hand and turned her back to face me.
"Why would I lie to you? And what do you mean 'just you'? You are perfect. Just the way you are." I say, gazing deep into her beautiful red eyes.
Suddenly my phone buzzed in my pocket.
DAMMIT. I sigh, checking what made it go off.
"I'm sorry, I have to go." I shove my phone back in my pocket.
"O-Okay. Bye." Akko waves as I leave.
~~~
The next morning I step into the classroom to see Akko looking distant again, her headphones on and looking disinterested with everyone and everything.
"Hey!" I slumped into the empty desk beside her.
She simply took one earbud out, waving to me.
She isn't talking again... I wonder as she scribbles something on a paper much like yesterday.
Hey Diana. It said.
"Why won't you talk to me?" I ask, beginning to feel a bit hurt.
I thought she was letting me in and she's shutting me out again!
It's not you. She wrote simply, shrugging as I read it.
"Then why?" I whisper, placing a hand on her shoulder.
My place after school? She avoided my question.
I nodded as the bell rang to start class.
~~~
"Okay. Spill." I cross my arms over my chest as she closed the door behind us.
"I'm sorry..." Akko said softly.
"Why don't you speak?" I ask, placing a hand on her shoulder as she hung her head.
"I just... People say I talk too much and I never shut up... That I'm annoying and a waste of space... So I figured if I stopped talking, they'd leave me alone..." she explained, fidgeting her hands as she gazed down at them.
I felt tears of anger prick my eyes as I tightened my grip on her shoulder.
She glanced up at me as I clenched my jaw.
I suddenly cupped her face with my hands, crashing my lips against hers.
Akko wrapped her arms around my waist, pulling me in as she kissed back.
I could feel tears on my face though I didn't know if they were mine or hers.
All I could think of was her soft, sweet lips being pressed against my own.
I pulled away to see her eyes wide, tears snaking down her red flushed cheeks.
I wiped at her tears with my thumbs.
"I don't care what those jerks say. I think you are the most amazing, sweet, gentle, and definaty the most beautiful girl in existance." I tell her, biting my lip.
"I... You think that... about me..?" she asks, placing a hand atop one of mine rested on her cheeks.
I nod as she lunges forward, tackling me to the ground as she kissed me passionately.
She sat up, now straddling my waist as I lay on the ground, and smiled while running a hand through my hair.
"I can't hide it anymore, Diana... I love you, always have, since I met you! I hope you feel the same way.." she bit her lip as she awaited my answer.
"Akko... Of course I love you!" I leaned up, pulling her close and hugging her against me.
In that moment everything felt alright, because at least for now, neither of us were alone.
