Something Like Normal. XII
YURI
I stuffed a chip in my mouth, "Maybe his plane got delayed and he couldn't make it. Or decide not to come, it isn't much of a problem if he didn't. I mean, it's not the end of the world." I said as I stuffed my mouth.
"Nervous?" Jocelyn asked.
"What makes you say that?" I asked and a chunk of chewed chip flew out of my mouth landing on her face.
"That." she said in disgust as she wiped it it off her face. "And you eat when you're nervous and start babbling."
"Sorry," I said. "I haven't seen my father in over a year so I am a little."
"You shouldn't be though." she said as she put her hand on my arm. "It's your father, siblings, and step mom. It's not like you're first meeting them."
I stuffed another chip in my mouth, "Arina makes their visit less exciting."
"I'm excited to meet Eva and Leo, their such cuties in the photos." she said. "They're four now right?"
"Da," I said and brought the bag up my mouth, the crumbs falling on my mouth. "I hear their demons so Arina leaves them with a nanny as she goes out with get friends."
"Whole told you that?" she asked, grinning. "You?"
"Maybe." I said and leaned down, pecking her on the mouth. She blushed but smiled. "She is the wicked witch of the west."
"Do you ever think she does love your dad? He is pretty handsome man." she said.
I brought my hand up and ran it down her face, "Let's never says that again." I said and she chuckled. "She was 23 year old working on my father set who was married already. I don't like her. She is always complaining."
"Well isn't that their plane?" she asked pointing out the window where a plane landed. "Right on time."
"I need a drink." I groaned as I went over to the vending machine and got a soda. I chugged a few sips as I joined next to Jocelyn.
I saw them coming down an elevator and my father leaned down to my siblings, pointing at me. The twins pressed their faces against the window and waved at me with excitement. I forced a smile on my face and waved at them.
When the doors opened, they both ran over to me. Both their heads were blonde as white since their mother was a blonde and had the most green eyes as I remember. They both latched onto my legs.
"Yuri!" they both yelled as they said how much they missed my even though I doubt they remembered me. It had been awhile and they were only turning three when I left.
I pulled them apart from my legs and leaned down to them, "Eva, Leo, look how big you two are." I said to them in Russian and Eva wrapped her arms around my neck tightly. I lifted her up onto my hip as I got up, "Eva, Leo this is my friend Jocelyn but she said you two can call her Joy if it is hard for you both to say."
"Hi." Eva said in English which is probably the only thing she could since a blush appeared in those chubby cheeks.
"Aw, aren't you the both the cutest little kids in the world!" Jocelyn said to them both.
I told them what she said and they both giggled and Leo said she was very pretty.
When my dad finally got to us with the witch latched to his arm, I put Eva down and step towards my dad, "Hey dad." I said in English and he took his arm out of the witches arm so he could hug me.
"So grown, almost as tall as me now." he said as he patted my shoulders when we pulled apart. "Handsome also, those cheeks finally thinned out."
"Already speaking like an American." Arina said in Russian since she didn't know any English. I didn't hug her.
I just ignored her.
I stepped back and put my hands on Jocelyn shoulder who looked shy as ever as I pulled her in front of me, "Dad, this is Jocelyn. Jocelyn, my father Vladimir."
Jocelyn smiled as she held her arm out, "So nice to meet you both!"
My father shook her hand, "It is nice to meet you to, Jocelyn." he said. "I have been most excited to meet you. It seems like you are the only one who Yuri will listen to these days."
"Will it isn't easy, but it gets there sooner or later." she said and I rolled my eyes. "Yuri may be stubborn, but he's a really good kid." she jokingly said as she reached up behind her and patted my cheek.
My father chuckled as Arina leaned up to my father ear as the tried to whisper but I heard, "I'll order her a salad for tonight " she said and my father gave her a hard look as so did I.
Jocelyn just looked up at me confused.
Jocelyn
I was totally lost at dinner with Yuri family. All around the day they were speaking in Russian and I hardly knew what they were saying.
By their tone it was going okay. Not great but okay, Yuri hasn't said anything to make his father angry yet or vice versa.
I looked at Yuri who was eating a lobster and his father who was eating the same thing. I was chewing om my rather very thick steak that I almost passed out looking at the price and almost gotten this baked chicken dinner but Vladimir insisted and when I told the waitress what I wanted he changed my order.
I hated feeling like the third party. I put my elbow on the table and put my chin onto the palm of my hand and starting chuckling which got their attention. "Oh, sorry. Thought someone made a joke."
Yuri step mom starting talking in Russian as she waved at me and I was confused. Yuri said something back and it was finally a argument until Arina got up and came over to me. She put her hands on my arms and pulled me up straight.
"I am sorry," Vladimir said. "My wife has this thing about sitting up straight at the dinner table. Forgive her."
"Oh, it's fine." I said giving them a smile. "My mama kind of the same way and says this is why my back always hurting. Since I'm her only girl with a family of four brothers I have to be lady like but that's hard when those brothers are putting you head locks and tormenting to the point--Yur--Yuri!" I said when he put a cherry tomato in my mouth.
"I'm not the only one who babbles Jocelyn." he said and I glared at him as I chewed the tomato. He just chuckled. He stabbed another tomato and forced it in my mouth. I smiled at him before spitting it out and it hit his face.
I brush out laughing and soon his siblings joined. I pointed at Yuri as I looked at the twin and they nodded quickly. It was funny and even Yuri father joined along.
I felt something spray on me and I took in a sharp breath when Yuri put his straw back in his drink. I glared at him as he laughed and reached into his drink and grabbed his shirt when he jumped up and tried to run.
"Jocelyn no--ahh!" he cried when I dropped the pieces of ice in his shirt. He turned around with a hard look and I turned around ready to run but he grabbed me and started tickling me, making me burst into giggles.
"Yuri!" I heard Yuri stepmother thick accent and Yuri stopped tickling me. We awkwardly looked around the fancy dancy restaurant where people were staring.
Yuri cleared his throat and pulled my chair out for me. I sat down and I gasped when I felt my pants get wet a little. Yuri chuckled next to me.
How did things change so much but still be the same?

"I will see you tomorrow right Yuri?" Vladimir asked Yuri.
"Da, I already agreed. Just me and you, right? No Arina hooked to your arm?" he asked and I hit his arm.
"Just me and you." he said and turned to me. He took my hand and just as charming as Yuri he kissed the back of my hand, "So nice to meet like I said. I quite enjoyed your company, you made this one of my most favorite dinners ever."
"Awe, how sweet. If you liked tonight you should try having a dinner at my house. That's real comedy." I said and he laughed.
"I'm glad Yuri had a friend like yourself." he said.
Had? I questioned but ignored it. He's probably just confused and probably meant has instead and correcting him just seemed rude.
"Thanks." I said and he nodded at us before.
Yuri and I got into the taxi that took us to Genesis. I was surprised at how well it all went, I expected something a whole lot differently. Yuri was actually talking to his dad normally, he mostly argued with his step mom.
"I don't see why you don't get along." I said. "You two seemed pretty close."
"Because he's an actor." he said. "Being friendly for everyone around."
"Yuri," I said and he sighed as he looked down at our hands.
He took my hand in his, "He's trying but I wouldn't expect it to last long. He's always nice in the beginning. Something will come up."
"I think he's actually trying for real this time." I said. "Arina though—she is pretty wicked."
"And you thought I was joking." he said as he looked up at me grinning.
"What she saying about me?" I asked. "And don't say she didn't say anything but I know she did."
“Who address am I going to first?” the cab driver asked.
“Hers.” Yuri said to the cab driver. I looked down at her hands and it felt so strange with him holding me hand like this. He always held my hand before but I just felt like something about it was different this time. I couldn't actually bring myself to say Yuri is my. . .boyfriend? He hasn't said 'girlfriend' either though but he had been kissing me all day long. When no one was looking in school, he would quickly peck me and it was so strange kissing my best friend. We acted so normal in school that no one really questioned it.
Well, someone did.
I frowned at the thought of Buck who I had avoided all day. I hate awkward situations, it was just hard to look at his face but I already told him it wouldn't work right now! I couldn't hop back and forth between guys.
“What?” Yuri asked and I looked up at him. “What is wrong?”
I opened my mouth then I looked up at the front seat. I looked back at Yuri and he understood what I meant. He tighten his hand in my and kissed my cheek.
When the cab drove up to my parents home I was surprised to see when Yuri got out of the cab. I got out as my eyebrow furrowed together and he paid the man. I walked over to Yuri side and I gave her a confused look when he took the receipt.
“That was your ride home, ya know?”, I asked when the taxi drove away.
“I can walk,” he said as he stuffed the receipt in his back pocket of his jeans. “It's only a twenty five minute walk.”
“Yuri, don't you think it's a little. . .strange?” I asked and he looked confused. “I mean, us. We haven't really talked about yesterday.”
“Da,” he said. “I guess we should.”
“Were you lying or do you actually. . .like me? Or was that you just trying to see what making out with me was like?” I asked and he sighed.
“I don't like you Jocelyn.” he said and my heart dropped. My mouth parted a little as I looked down at the road as my stomach felt like it was getting cramps since I felt like a completely fool. He chuckled and I was tempted to go run inside my house and get my older brothers Jared and Cole to finally come beat Yuri up like they've been wanting to for awahile now. Yuri put his hands on my waist and my eyes widen as he pulled me close to him, “I don't like you, Jocelyn, I love you.”
My face twitched as I held back my smile and I closed my eyes at how stupid I suddenly felt. Yuri would never say that even if he didn't really care that way about me, he's to nice of a guy. I finally opened my eyes and looked up at him, “Why haven't you ever told me? You obviously had to know how I felt about you, I'm bad at hiding my feelings."
"I always figured you had a small crush on me." he said. "I only ever started to worry was when you started hanging out with him." he said, his top lip twitching and I chuckled. "You know I'm bad at experessing my feeling. I never wanted to fall in love, I never had a good example what real love was. But things about you from you funny looking toes to those highlights in your hair I love about you because it's who you are. To where you made me wax my hair on my top lip because I would never in in a million years do that, but I did it for you. Half the shit we do I don't want to do, but I enjoy doing them because it's with you."
I smiled as my arms went up around his neck, "I love you because you are cute. "
"That's all?" he asked, chuckling. "All night I had been planning the right words so I won't mess anything up and all you have to say is because I'm cute?"
"I love you because your my best friend, you know everything about me, you always apologize because you know I'm the most stubborn girl ever and I apologize back--in my head. I just thought a guy like you wouldn't like a girl like me. I was the prettiest girl ball at the academy." I said.
"I followed you all the way out here, you think that isn't love?" he asked and I giggled. "And you are beautiful, Jocelyn, you're not a clone and trying be like everyone. I enjoyed those barn chores stories more than you thought because it was diferent. You never talked once about shopping, I actually had to force you to go shopping."
"Is everything different now?" I asked. "I don't want to keep wondering."
"Well I don't know, do you want things to be different." he asked. "I'm sorta scared of change though. It's why I hesitated for so long, I don't want to ruin anything if we--you know. . .don't agree on everything. I don't want to loose you, you're literally everything to me. There's never going to be a Jocelyn who'll make fun of me for falling, not fake their concern."
"I don't think I could ever get sick of you. And your accent." I said and he grinned. "You do make me feeling like I'm the only one imporant. I don't ever want to see you give that attention to someone else. And I can't keep letting you kiss me if you aren't my boyfriend. My mom taught me better."
"But I like kissing you. It's like having a first kiss all over again." he said and I scoffed, chuckling.
"Same thing I thought!" I said. "I like kissing you to."
"Better than Cowboy Buck?" he asked sarcastically. "His lips are pretty thin looking." he said, puckering his mouth.
I chuckled, "You've been watching his mouth."
"I may have given points to us who's hotter. I won of course. Adorable Russian accent was the real big winner compared to his southern one." he said and I rolled my eyes.
"Oh Yuri, what am I going to do with you?" I asked.
"Well we both wanna keep kissing each other so there's only one salution." he said as he lowered his head. "You will have to become my girlfriend."
"Oh do I?" I asked teasingly. I sighed and rolled my eyes, "Well I mean, if it's the only resolution I guess we have to."
"Still be best friends, I'm just allowed to kiss you now without it being weird." he said and pecked my nose. "I mean, we pretty much acted like we were a couple. Everyone who knows us thinks we are pretty close and apparently so does all of Russia."
"That's still weird." I said. "Did they stalk you twitter and just make a rumor?"
He nodded,"Da. I mean, I did put the captions as My favorite girl, I guess they would think you are my girlfriend."
"I'm your favorite girl?" I asked as I tighten my arms around him with a big smile. "Awe how cheesy Yuri." I said as I kissed his cheek. "I accept being your girlfriend."
"Just to let you know, I'll still be kissing you if you weren't." he said before kissing me.
