Waking up to white lights and the sounds of rustling of papers just above her head Tori opened her blurred eyes in a strange place. The last thing she remembered was being out in the woods with Andre and Cat. She couldn't understand how she got from the woods to a hospital when she thought that she was shot in the neck. The nurse glanced over at Tori as she changed her saline drip and smiled.
"Well good morning sunshine!" The nurse said happily.
"Where am I?" Tori asked confused as she tried to sit up.
"St. Paul memorial. Speaking of that now that you're awake we can change your name since we've had no ID for you. Now. Name please?"
"Tori. Tori Nelson. Where is my husband? Call him. I have a direct number where he can be reached."
Tori gave the nurse the number and she scurried off quickly to fill out the proper information. Tori waited for what seemed to be a few hours when the nurse came back with a stack of release papers.
"Alright my dear you are free to go. I tried to contact your husband but I got no answer. I was however given another number and a woman answered. She's on her way here right now to get you."
Tori was confused.
"A woman? Who does he have living there that knows about me?" She thought.
The nurse removed her IV and Tori leapt out of bed and into the bathroom to change clothes. Once she was dressed in the dirty dress she was dragged off into the woods in she threw her hair in a ponytail and bolted out of the room and out to the main entrance. She sat and waited out on a bench for whoever it was coming to get her as the questions swirled in her mind. Who is coming to get her and why did Andre kidnap her? After fifteen minutes went by a car pulled up to the curb and the window rolled down.
"Hello......Tori. Or should I say......McKenzie?" The woman said.
Tori's blood ran cold as she looked at the woman she knew as her sister.
"Karen. What are you doing here?" Tori asked in shock.
"Just get in the car. You've caused enough trouble.
Tori got up from the bench and went to the car. The doors unlocked and she got inside. Just as she was able to reach for the door the car began to pull away from the curb slowly.
"You can't wait?" Tori hisses.
"Apparently you can't either." Karen hissed back.
Tori closed the door and the two sped off back the Chanhassen city limits. The ride back started off quiet at first. Tori sat and stared out the window while Karen drove. Finally the silence was broken.
"So! How many lives did you manage to ruin this time Kens huh?" Karen asked with an attitude.
"Why do you think that's all I do? Just because you're known and miss do right don't mean you've been a saint all your life." Tori snapped.
"McKenzie you lied to that man about who you are! You left me at the concert and ran off with him and he had no type of warning. Does Aaron even know what you're doing? Did you even consider going back on your meds? You have no idea how much damage you are doing. And you caused his daughter to lose her baby!"
"She still has another one!"
"THAT DOESN'T MATTER! You put Prince and his family in a lot of pain! Serves you right for him to divorce your ass!"
"Why aren't you on my side? I thought you were my sister?!?!?"
"McKenzie because you're wrong! Everything you've done has been wrong! I'm finding this shit out from some little girl named Erin from an email! Mama is probably rolling over in her grave right now."
"Oh stop being so dramatic. Mama don't care about none of this."
"Really?!?!?"
"Yeah. Really. You were always mama's favorite. I was just the kid that was in the way."
"Mama loved you too and you know it. You just were never happy with the attention you did get. And you know I'm right."
The two women stopped arguing as they reached Chanhassen. They were still another forty five minutes away from Minneapolis but they had to make a stop for gas. Karen grabbed her wallet and opened the car door.
"I'll be back. STAY PUT." She demanded.
Tori rolled her eyes and sucked her teether as she watched her sister go inside the store to pay for the gas. When Karen was out of sight she jumped out of the car and ran towards the highway. Weaving in and out of traffic she made it across and hitched a ride with a guy in a moving truck.
"I need to get to Audubon Road quickly please." She pleaded with the driver.
The man didn't ask any questions. He just let her in and drove her to where she wanted to go. Karen came out of the store and noticed that Tori had taken off.
"Shit!" She yelled.
Karen never got her gas. Instead she closed the passenger door and got in the car quickly and sped off. She knew that there was only one place she would go. That place was Paisley Park.
It was only a ten minute trip and Tori was never happier to see the gates of what she still thinks of as home. The man let her out at the drive way and she rushed around the back of the building to the docks and snuck back inside. To her surprise the house was empty and only the sound of cooing filled the air from the doves. Tori took the lift to the living suite and rushed to the bedroom to change. The smell of sweet lavender overwhelmed her and she smiled harder than she could ever imagine. Going into the closet and decided to take her time to find something to wear since no one was around. Or at least so she thought. She was unaware of footsteps approaching the door as she hummed a song softly to herself. The bedroom door opened and in stepped Regan. She was on the phone with Carlyn giving her words of advice when it came to grief.
"If you want to cry then you cry. There's no need to keep all your feeling bottled up inside of you. It's not healthy." She said as the sound of Tori's humming reached her ears.
"Hey Carly? I'll call you right back." She softly replied and hung up the phone.
Regan slowly walked over to the closet as she thought her mind was playing tricks on her. She pushed her phone in her back pocket and when she got the the door her worst thoughts were confirmed.
"YOU!" She said startling Tori and caused her to shriek.
Regan wasted no time and charged Tori in the closet. For Tori it was fight or flight.
