Ch. 44 Library

Hey guys! I just made another account with my two friends. It's called TheIronBunnies check it out! I'll be posting a few stories on there later on! (Sorry for the short chapter, btw, I need to start on homework!)

Ginny pulled Harry to the Great Hall, her hair swinging behind her. Said boy groaned, trying to convince her that they should instead stay in the Common Room, relaxing. But she would have none of it, insisting that Ron would be there and they would have to show, or he'd go on another rant. Besides, she wanted to rub her relationship with Harry in his face.

"C'mon! Oh bloody-" She threw her hands up in exasperation as Harry crossed his arms. "Why do you have to be so difficult?" She scrunched up her nose. Harry grinned, unable to keep a straight face when she was so adorable. He stepped up to her, smiling down at her as she pouted. They were in the middle of a hallway, with kids milling about on their way to lunch, but Harry didn't pay them any attention as he placed his hands on her hips.

"What're you grinning at, mister, you haven't won!" Ginny protested, narrowing her eyes at him playfully and poking his chest.

"Because you're cute when you're mad." He explained, pulling her closer. "And you can't really blame me for wanting to just relax. We've had a long day, and it's not even lunch." He had pulled her to the side of the hallway, where the were less kids so he could hear her better.

"I know, Harry, but what about Ron? He'll think I've pulled you into bed, and he will spread that rumor." Ginny was looking everywhere except Harry's pleading green eyes. He sighed, moving his hands to her lower back as he tried to catch her attention.

"Gin, we can't let him decide what we do. Let him spread the rumor. It isn't true, so why should it bother us?" Ginny bit her lip and nodded, glancing up at her boyfriend.

"Okay. We might as well take advantage of the library. I wonder what kinds of books on the Bond there are..." Harry beamed, grabbing her hand and practically pulling her down the hall. "If you get hungry during class, I'm blocking the Bond. Just telling you." She warned, not enjoying being the one that is pulled along.

"Alright." He agreed, stepping into the cool library. "Now, we'll look for the books, then we'll relax and enjoy some time together."

"Harry! I found something!" Ginny exclaimed, her eyes locked on a paragraph from 'Strange Magical Occurrences of History'. Harry leaned on the back of her chair, placing his chin on her shoulder, which didn't help her concentration.

She cleared her throat and read out loud.

'The occurrence of the Bond has been dated back many years. Not many things are known of this subject, but theories and tests have been released over the decades. The only recorded case was in 1493 CE, when Lawrence and Bethany Hallburg were sighted controlling magical abilities past even those of the current master wizards. After questioning, it was found that the two had experienced a supernatural magical change when the a local building had collapsed over top of them. They were the only two survivors. We soon found they had some control over human nature itself, when Lawrence incinerated a man that was attempting sexual harassment of Hallburg's wife.

Several more cases of the Bond has been reported, but many of the persons who had Bonded died shortly after Bonding. Most likely from being unable to control their powers, envious peers, or wars. It is said that each Bounded Couple is actually a reincarnation of Lawrence and his wife, or of the first Bonded couple, whoever they may have been. Many earlier records, including the finding of tests executed by the Hallburgs, have been since destroyed in national disasters, politics, or rebellions.'

Ginny closed the book, glancing at Harry's worried face, clearing her throat. "I'm sure not all have died..." But as she stared at the dusty black cover of the book, she wasn't sure. "Let's go to the Common Room, yeah?" She attempted a smile. Harry appreciated her brave face, but knew she was scared on the inside.

"C'mere." He wrapped her trembling figure in his arms, rubbing her back as she buried her face into his shoulder. Harry couldn't help but wonder what more Dumbledore was hiding from them. "I promise I'll keep you safe, okay love? I promise."

That didn't help Ginny's nerves. She was worried about him. She had an idea of what would happen if he died, she'd be torn. Half a soul, no one to confide in, and she couldn't imagine being without him. The world needed him to stop Voldemort. That she knew.

So, silently, she made a promise to keep him safe. No matter what.
