Ch. 24 Just a Dream
(I had you going there didn't I? No, Hinny doesn't start till the next few chapters. I have something really cute planned for them)
Ginny's POV
Ginny jerked awake, her head pounding as she sat up. She was confused, her mind spinning. Then it clicked. It was just a dream.
People bustled around her, a fire was glowing a few feet away so Ginny scooted over, trying to avoid being trampled by the wandering feet. Michael was crouched near her, looking extremely panicked.
"What happened?" She asked groggily, rubbing her head. He noticed her stirring and held his hand out to her quickly.
"Stray Death Eater" He whispered, pulling her up. "You dodged a spell and tried to hide behind a table, but it fell over on top of you. Knocked you out for a minute" He said, his eyes still wide with panic "You okay?" He asked. Ginny opened her mouth to respond but was assaulted by a flying brunette.
"Yeesh Hermione" She gasped as Hermione tackled her, Ron right behind.
"Sorry" Hermione excused herself, sitting up. "We saw you lying on the ground... We thought you were" She didn't finish, but Ginny had gotten the idea. She noticed her jaw aching, and when she reached up to touch it, she pulled back in pain,
"Ow" She murmured, Hermione and Michael laughed, apparently thinking her pain was funny. Ginny stood, brushing herself off. The first thing she did was check where Harry was. Except, she didn't really need to. Because as soon as she had stood up, she was almost tackled again, this time by a raven haired boy.
"Ginny!" He gasped, hugging her. She patted his back, feeling awkward about the dream she had had. He pulled away quickly, his cheeks a bright red. "Sorry"
"It's fine, just give me some notice before you tackle me" She laughed. He chuckled slightly and looked around. Aurors were filling the room, looking for any sign that the Death Eater could have left to who he is. In fact, a certain black-haired Auror ran up to them.
"Hi Mr Potter" Hermione and Ron greeted while Ginny just waved and Harry gave him a 'man hug'. James looked each of them over, smiling.
"Well, seems we have some trouble makers. Tell me why exactly it's always you four when something bad happens. He laughed. Everyone smiled. Ginny was glad to feel happiness radiate from Harry, though she felt it made her too happy herself. She started bouncing up and down and kicking at the floor in rhythm.
"Sorry" Harry muttered yet again, blocking the Bond. Ginny sighed, happy that she didn't have to look like an idiot any longer.
"Dad, I've been meaning to ask you if we could visit the Burrow this Christmas?" Harry asked, smiling.
"It's up to your mum, Prongslet. Speaking of which, she is doing fine. We still don't know the gender of the baby though" James supplied. Harry nodded. Everything kind of melted into an awkward silence after that, so James excused himself and left.
After that, it was even more awkward. Especially for Ginny who was thinking of her dream. She loved Harry, but did he love her the same way? They were both free to date whomever, but it would be great if he would just give her a hint! Something!
The only thing she didn't realize was that Harry was pondering the exact same things. Word for word as he thought of the girl who was walking beside him down the road. We're too young. He decided. But soon, he was kicking himself for not asking her sooner.
Michael ran up behind them, tapping Ginny's shoulder. "Um, Ginny, I was wondering..." He trailed off as he looked at the people behind her, Ron, giving an angered look. Harry, looking shocked and hurt. And Hermione, smirking as she glanced at Harry's expression. "Could we talk?" He asked, pointing to the bench nearby.
Ginny stayed frozen before nodding and following Michael. It seemed like forever for Harry, but the conversation went something like this.
The two wiped the snow off the bench and sat down, shoving their hands in their pockets. Michael took a deep breath and asked.
"I was wondering if you'd like to go to the Three Broomsticks after Christmas break?" He asked, looking at her expectantly. She froze completely. She was only twelve. There was no way her mother would allow her to date. Then she thought of the dream and she felt happiness rise in her, not realizing as it slipped through the Bond. She took a breath, blocking the Bond again subconsciously and thinking of how that wouldn't happen any time soon. Who would blame her if she was to date other people? Bonded people don't always have to date or get married.
But as she thought this. She also realized that she was just hurt that Harry hadn't made a move. She needed payback. Weasley style. Or more specifically, Ginny style.
"Sure" She agreed, looking to be happy. Michael beamed and stood, reaching his hand out to help her up. Why did she dream him to be such a jerk?
"That's great! Just tell me when you'd like to go out" He beamed, running off to his friends. Ginny walked back to her own group and walked along with a smile on her face, though actually, it was a smirk.
She was perfectly aware that her friends didn't start walking with her until she was several feet away, and that Harry was looking thoroughly shocked. But she kept walking.
"What did he talk about?" Harry asked, trying to act casual, but failing miserably.
"Not much" She sighed, using her best acting to make herself look smitten. And she had some practice. "Little things, things that I am not telling any of you but 'Mione" She pointed out. Ron still looked confused, and Harry was still being thick headed, but Ginny knew exactly where she was going. And it would be the perfect payback.
I'm sorry guys, I wrote the last chapter while I was sick and I didn't have my planner so I was just writing randomly. But I just realized that I didn't have that set to happen until much later when they're older. I promise it'll be quick though and 3rd year is almost over. What do you think about Ginny's payback plan? Will Harry get jealous and win her back? Or will he admit defeat and prove Ginny's hopes wrong? Find out in the next few chapters!
