Ch. 14

James and Lily both rushed out onto the deck outside of Harry's bedroom with him following close behind.

They stopped short at the sight in front of them. The wards covering the Burrow were gone, a group of people in black were casting hundreds of spells at the rickety house.

James and Lily both tried to run out to help them, but a wave of magic jerked them, landing them on their bums. They looked back to see the Burrow falling.

There was a flash of bright light that enveloped the Burrow, they realized it was coming from... Behind them.

They both looked back to see their son, his hands held up in front of him, was the one who was keeping the home from collapsing.

Another flash of light and he yelled "GINNY!"

James and Lily were pressed against the stone of the deck as the waves of magic ripped faster. After a long while, they looked up to see the Burrow standing completely, surrounded by a golden aura.

The group was fleeing, and that's when James and Lily, made out the lumps on the lawn. Their eyes widened and they both looked back to Harry, to see he wasn't there. They Apparated quickly to the Burrow and was surprised to see Percy Weasley collapsed on the ground in front of them.

Ron was collapsed also, a long gash down his arm. They also saw that Molly who was wrapping her sons wound in gauze, had a cut on her forehead and the side of her face was sooty.

"Where's Harry?" Lily asked, clutching her heart as she couldn't find her son. Molly looked up and sighed, standing and looking down at her son.

"I'm sorry Lily, I haven't seen him" She could see the worry on the red heads face and they started searching.

They soon found him, leaning over a body. He had his hand on the bodies stomach and a soft glow was emanating from his hand. They got closer and realized with a jolt, that the body was Ginny Weasley.

Molly surged forward but was stopped by a ward around the two. She craned her neck and caught a glimpse of the Potters gold eyes.

Harry's feet hit the ground and he started running, right past everyone as he knew where she was.

He sunk to his knees in front of her, brushing some soot from her face and looking straight at her face. There was a wound on her stomach, which looked really really really bad. Her screams echoed in his ears, and he realized that she had been under the Cruciatus Curse. An Unforgivable. But he had heard her? Yet, she is unconscious.

He healed her wound on her stomach and felt a shield form around them. He pulled her head into his lap and listened for her heart.

After five minutes, he found her heart was barely beating. His eyes welled with tears and he felt his emotions pour out of him in tears and magic. There was a pulse of energy and it enveloped Ginny.

He felt something click on his head and her eyes fluttered open, smiling up at him. She reached up and wiped his tears away, giving him another smile before closing her eyes again.

He felt the shield go down, and he glanced up into the shocked faces of the adults. He gently pulled her head up onto his shoulder so she was leaning against him and looked to the adults. They got the picture and conjured a stretcher that they used to bring her to the Healers.

Harry smiled as she was checked over and confirmed to be fine. He sighed, waiting by her side as the other Weasleys got treatment. Ron's arm would have to heal naturally since it was a curse, and he would have a scar.

Ginny too, she would have a scar on her stomach from where they said she had been shot with a penetrating curse. They also said she would most likely be mentally ill, since she was subjected to the Cruciatus Curse for so long at a young age.

But Harry had not doubt she would be fine, he knew he had healed her thoroughly.

So as he sat in a chair next to her bed, he realized with a sad smile and a glance at the clock, that the next day was her birthday.

"So much for shopping, Gin" He said, rubbing his thumb over her hand. He chuckled slightly, looking over her face.

A nurse came in and fed her a potion with a spell and he frowned. He could've sworn he felt something for a second. Disgust.

He shook it off and looked back at his best friend, leaning back in the plastic chair. While he didn't like St Mungos anyway, they could've at least gotten good chairs.

He waited for what seemed like forever. It was well into her birthday by the time she woke. He smiled as her face lit up. She automatically sat up, though rather weakly, and gave him a hug.

He sat back down and started explaining everything. The dream, the attack on the Burrow. He felt anger radiate off of her and he placed a hand on her arm. He smiled as her anger depleted, instead feeling a twinge of happiness. And something else that he didn't think even she understood.

////////

The first week at school was filled with schoolwork, homework, and classes.

Ginny was slightly nervous at being back at school. Sure, she had been completely fine when they were at home. But she felt a nervousness fill her everyday, so badly that she had to go to the Hospital Wing for some Anti Nausea.

Not to mention Harry wasn't available to talk to at all. They'd work on homework together, sure. But he always fell asleep before they could really talk.

She found herself in the library most of the time, reading up on different spells and potions. She was doing well in all her classes, even Potions, and she found it to not be challenging at all.

So, as she read a fourth year Potions book, she got a magnificent idea.

Harry, on the other hand, was doing just fine in accounts of being nervous. Though, he would sometimes feel nausea settle in his stomach at the most strange times, but, it would feel like... It's hard to explain, but he would not actually feel it, like a ghost or he was feeling it radiating off someone.

He also felt extreme excitement a lot, so much that he was now known to hop up from doing homework and pace the room, or tap his feet in rhythm.

Ron and Hermione thought that this was just do to his recent fight with death at the Burrow, or even because Ginny wasn't around. Though, that was actually the opposite.

Harry would sit on the couch for hours, wallowing in enough sadness for two people, and attempt to finish his homework.

Though, he did notice that his class work was skyrocketing. When he would had just an Acceptable or Exceeds Expectations, he now has Outstandings.

He even realized that it wasn't very challenging. Even Snape had a hard time keeping his grade at an E.

Of course, this just made Snape hate him more it seemed. Once, Harry coughed and got ten points taken from Gryffindor. This made the Slytherins start loud coughing fits, and Snape did nothing.

An upside of school was Remus Lupin, James' other best friend, taught now. Harry couldn't remember enjoying schoolwork so much. Remus, against his better judgment, called Harry by his nickname 'Prongslet' or 'Prongs Jr' making DADA much funnier, as no one but Remus, Harry, and Ron knew who Prongslet or Prongs Jr was.

On the second Friday of the school year, and exhausted Harry was walking up to Gryffindor Tower when he was pulled into a empty classroom. The door locked and he whipped around, his wand out.

"Harry!" A voice said. Harry was assaulted with red hair and e realized with a smile he felt where she was.

He hugged her back then pulled away. "What's going on?" He asked, feeling the joy and happiness radiating off of her.

"You'll never guess what Dumbledore told me!" He stood, waiting for her to answer, all exhaustion forgotten.

"Guess!" She teased. He groaned, leaning against the wall.

"fine! Uh.... You got on the Quidditch team" She shook her head "Um.... Snape is being nice" She stuck her tongue out at him "Yeah, impossible"

They both laughed and she finally answered "I just got called into Dumbledores office!"

Harry gaped at her, she got in trouble and is happy about it? But then she finished her sentence

"He and McGonagall agreed that with all my study on third and fourth year spells, if I keep my grades up, I can skip a year!"

Harry smiled and hugged her again "That's great! But, wait! That means...." He trailed off and beamed "You'll be in the same class as me!" She flicked his forehead.

"That's the point, Dumbo" She said, crossing her arms. Though, she was faking at hiding her grin.

They both spent a long time talking, Ginny lounging on top of a table. A knock at the door and Mooney walked in with a small grin.

"It's past curfew" He pointed out. Both kids shot up, exclaiming a 'WHAT?'

Harry rushed out of the room with Ginny on his heels, time flies when you're having fun...
