Who she really is...

Chi sat on the sofa in the game room next to Yui. Her hunger had subsided a little but her fangs still hadn't gone back in. She was feeling a little different since Kanato had allowed her some of his own blood. Shu lay on the sofa with his eyes closed but still listening. Kanato was stood near the sofa alongside Laito. Ayato was sat on her armchair staring at Chi and Subaru was leant against the wall looking bored but he didn't leave either. Reiji had been the one to call them to the room but he himself was not there. He was greeting the guest and leading him to the room that the others were in. Everyone was here, all for one reason...to find out what exactly what she was. To find out where she came from and why she was in the Sakamaki household. Reiji entered the room followed by a tall elegant looking man with neat black hair and stunning green eyes. He was very handsome with high cheekbones and elegant aura that demanded you feel both respect and fear towards him. He strolled into the room after Reiji and his eyes instantly found Chi.

"My, my what a fine young lady you have become...your eyes are so much like your Mothers." Chi glared at him.

"What do you know of my Mother?" She asked him feeling a little defensive all of a sudden.

"Chi, this man is a guest in our house. We must treat him with respect." Said Reiji. Chi glared at him but backed down knowing that he was right. "This here is Arnoldo Kurosawa, he is the right hand man of our Father Karlheinz."

"I am indeed. It is a pleasure to meet his children for once." He said smiling at the brothers who all looked uncomfortable by his presence. He was a close friend of their Fathers and they all hated their Father and that hate was rubbing off on this new comer too. Reiji seemed to be the only one that didn't seem to mind him but then again Reiji's hate was aimed purely at his Mother.

"This is Chi and Yuki Komori." Said Reiji introducing him to the two girls.

"It's nice to meet you." Said Yui politely bowing her head a little to him. Arnoldo smiled at her but his eyes travelled back to Chi.

"Please take a seat." Said Reiji gesturing towards the chair opposite Chi. Arnoldo nodded and sat down. His back was completely straight as he sat looking at the beautiful blacked hair blue eyed girl in front of him.

"I understand you have information about my situation." Said Chi putting on a very formal voice so that Reiji wouldn't get upset with her.

"I do and I understand you will be anxious to hear it so I will get straight to the point. Reiji has informed me of what the two of you discussed not so long ago and I am here to confirm what he has said. You are in fact a half breed. Half vampire, half human." Yui tensed up beside Chi.

"I need more than that." Chi said getting impatient. She already knew most of this, it was obvious. Reiji shot her a glare for being rude but Chi ignored him.

"I understand. Then I will tell you that your Mother was human and your Father was a vampire."

"Where are they?"

"You Mother is dead and your Father is right in front of you."

"Y-your my Father?" She asked as he caught the full attention of everyone in the room.

"I am indeed." He confirmed. Chi could feel the eyes of the seven other in the room watching her closely. She looked at the man that called himself her Father.

"And Mother? You said she was human...did you kill her?" She asked anger flashed in Arnoldo's eyes but was gone as soon as it came.

"I was not the one to murder you Mother. The cause of her death was none other than yourself." Chi leapt up from the sofa.

"You lie." She said feeling angrily. Yui reached for her sister's clenched hand. She was shaking in anger as she looked at her new found Father.

"What reason would I have to lie? What I tell you is the truth but I do not blame her death on you. It was not your fault, if you calm down and listen I will explain." Chi was still angry but she sat back down, glaring at Arnoldo and not taking a single glance at the others who were watching her take in the shocking and upsetting news.

"What do you mean?" She asked trying to keep the anger from her voice.

"You Mother was human and she became ill before your brith. Her human body was much too weak too carry a child that was half vampire. After she went into labour her heart was already failing, it was clear that she would not make it through the birth but she said she wished to go ahead with your birth despite this. As you Mother was dying you were too so you relied on your instincts to help you survive. You needed strength and us vampires get a lot of strength from feeding of human blood. So to save yourself you drank every last drop of your Mother's blood."

"No." Chi said. "No that can't be true."

"I can assure you that it is and it is also why the photo you have in your pocket has an infant you covered in blood. That is the blood of your Mother, it was taken just 2 hours after your birth."

"You gave me away after 2 hours?" She questioned him.

"We did not have a choice. You were uncontrollable, your thirst was unquenchable. Even at infancy us vampires understand and have control over our own thirst but the fact that you were half human was preventing these instincts from coming to the surface. The only way to keep you under control was have you grow up in a society away from vampires. It was the Church that seemed to send your vampire half to sleep and for a while you remained almost human."

"But why would my Father...I mean...Seiji take me in...did he know what I was?"

"He was told but it was the fact that you were half human that stopped him from killing you. He couldn't kill a 2 hour old baby who's human Mother had just died bringing it into the world."

"Did he know what I did to my Mother?" She asked him.

"He did not. He was told that if he raised you as a human your vampire half would fade away and you would become human...it was not the complete truth but it was the only way to get him to look after you. He needed to believe that he could make you human or 'save you' as he put it."

"If he wanted to me to remain human then why was I sent here? Wasn't it the presence of other vampires that awoke mine?"

"It was indeed but that my planning. Seiji had no idea about what was inside these walls. He believes that the Sakamaki's are human and he is their friend. That is why when he became busy with work he sent you here, to live with friends for a while. I knew the day would come that the both of you would come to this house so Seiji was the perfect person to leave you in the care of until the day I can come and claim you as my own."

"I'm not something to be claimed like an animal." Arnoldo smiled without amusement.

"Perhaps not but I could not be separated from my only child forever. Now that your vampire half has been awaken it will slowly kill your human half leaving you a pure blooded vampire."

"Chi can't leave with you." Yui blurted out. "She is my sister."

"No she is not. She was believed to be your sister but the two of you are no way related." Arnoldo said.

"That doesn't matter...she's still my sister." Said Yui.

"Were not happy with you taking her either." Said Reiji. "She is currently a guest at our home."

"Teddy and I would miss Chi if she wasn't here." Said Kanato very quietly but loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Do you wish to stay?" Arnoldo asked Chi. Chi's eyes travelled to Yui. She couldn't leave her here alone but she was a danger to Yui. How could she protect her? Her instincts might get the better if her...what if she attacked Yui? Then there was Kanato...she didn't want to leave him. She had become more attached to him than she was willing to admit.

"I do." Chi answered making up her mind.

"Then if that is what you wish you can remain here for a while longer. If would seem the transition is happening much faster than I thought." Said Arnoldo thoughtfully. "You are almost a vampire at this moment. The only thing you need to become an immortal would be to feed on human blood."

"I would never." Said Chi through gritted teeth.

"If you feed by choice your instincts will take over and make you feed. Surely it would be better to feed while you are still in control than wait until you loos it and attack someone you might not want to." He said. Everyone in the room knew that he was talking about Yui. Chi looked at Yui who was watching her with a worried expression.

"I won't hurt you." She assured her.

"If you do not feed in three days time you will die." Arnoldo broke the news as if he was asking for a cup of tea. Yui gasped.

"No you can't die."

"But if I live I will become one of them. You and I will never be the same."

"That doesn't matter as long as I don't lose you."

"Such devotion." Said Arnoldo. "But what you are will not be the only thing that will change."

"What are you talking about?" Chi asked him.

"I cannot say for certain but there are many legends about what would happen if a hybrid such as yourself was created. They all said that they would gain powers unique only to them. Pure destructive power that you only need to think about. I wouldn't be surprised if you have already experience such power in a state of rage perhaps." Chi thought back.

"The floor outside my bedroom." She said quietly. When she had got really mad at Laito that night that crack had appeared underneath her. She hadn't know why and she hadn't even thought about it. She had so much else going on but now it all seemed to make sense. Laito and Reiji were the only one to understand what she had said. They were the only two that knew who and what causes that crack, but it didn't take a genius to work out why she said it. It was clear to them all that she had been the one to cause it.

"That power will only grow and it will be harder to control. Until you do have it fully under control I recommend that you try to keep your temper in check. You must remain in control of your own emotions. If you do not the results could be...catastrophic."

"What do you mean by that?" Asked Yui.

"I have read that a hybrid has the power to create a pit so large and deep that if one fell in it, they would fall into the depths of hell. Forever surrounded by darkness, with no warmth. It is a terrible thing and one that has been given the name of 'the hybrids curse.' A fate that would condemn someone's should to an eternity of pain and suffering. It is something feared by even the most powerful of vampires because there is no way out and no way to stop it from happening. I do not know the details of it all but the general message is don't get mad if you want to protect the one you call sister." Arnoldo then stood up and let out a small sigh. "Now I must go, this is your last chance to come with me."

"I have no wish to abandon Yui in a house full of vampires while I go to live with a Father that has never been there for me."

"I have always been there for you. I was always watching from the shadows, waiting for the right time to finally meet you. I could not before as me being to close to you would have broken the spell much to early, but never doubt my presence in your life." Reiji moved towards the door. With one last look at his estranged daughter Arnoldo turned and left the house...
