Three little words...
Chi sat on the end of her bed looking at the photo in her hands. She was a monster, there was no other way to put it. She'd killed her own mother...she wanted to drink the blood of her sister...she needed the blood of a human to survive and now she found out she had this dark power to plunge someone into eternal darkness, to suffer in pain for all eternity. She sighed and then sensed a presence in the room.
"What is it Kanato?" She asked calmly.
"You can sense us now...that takes the fun away." He said as if he was sad.
"Maybe it does..." She trailed off.
"Does Chi not want to be a vampire?"
"Not really. Father...Seiji told me my whole life that vampires were the enemy...that they were to be hated and yet here I am. Surrounded by them and now becoming now too. What am I meant to do? I'm a danger to everyone here...it's not just about Yui anymore. Yes I'm a big risk to her but I never thought that I might impact on any of you. I just thought that you guys were already vampire and that even if I became one I would still be beneath you."
"You still are. Don't think that you are on the same level as us, even if you are becoming a vampire don't forget that our Father is the vampire King. No matter what you do someone that has been born outside of this family will always be beneath us."
"I get it...but that's not what I meant." Chi said noticing he seemed to be getting defensive. "What if I put that curse on one of you by mistake? Arnoldo said that even someone like you would not be able to escape."
"Don't belittle me." Kanato said as rage boiled up inside him. Chi herself was getting mad he just wasn't getting what she was trying to say. She stood up from her bed picture still in hand.
"That's not it. I'm worried that I'll hurt you...I couldn't imagine life without you. I get mad so easily...and it's hard for me to control it."
"You won't hurt us." Said Kanato, his voice completely calm. Kanato reached out a hand towards her face and gently stroked it. He moved closer and pulled her into a hug. He held her tightly, it hurt a little but Chi didn't mind. "Chi...I love you to the point of madness." He said quietly.
"I-I love you too..." Chi replied feeling herself relax. Kanato placed a small kiss on the top of her head. "Kanato...will you stay with me tonight?" She asked him quietly.
"If that's what you want." He said looking into her eyes. Chi was acting strange. He had never seen her act so defenceless before, she had never been so needy before. "You're so cute." He told her with a small laugh. Then he took her hand and lead her too the bed where the two fell asleep side by side...
After school had finished the next day Kanato grabbed Chi's sleeve and dragged her out if the classroom. Yui gave were a worried and confused look but then Ayato came and stood in front of her, blocking her view.
"Kanato where are you taking me?" She asked him but she got no answer. Kanato continued to pull her off the school grounds and pass the limousine that came to pick them every day after school to return them to the Sakamaki house. He didn't say anything and pulled her into a dark alleyway coming of the main street. "Kanato seriously what are you doing?" She said as she pulled her arm out if his hand after they were halfway down the hallway. Kanato turned and tilted his head at her, holding Teddy tightly and giving her and innocent look.
"Chi needs to feed." He said simply. Chi's eyes widened. That's what her Father had told her. That to become a fully fledged vampire all she had to do was feed on human blood and that she had three days to do it in.
"No I can't. Not yet, I want to try and remain human for as long as I can." Said Chi with a shake of her head. Yui had told her that she needed to feed. This morning before they left for school Yui had even said that Chi could have her blood if she needed it but of course Chi refused. If Yui wanted her to live then she would, she would drink human blood, she would become a vampire but not yet. She just wasn't ready.
"What's the point? Are you not desperate to be by my side?" He asked her.
"What?" Chi questioned him.
"After you become a vampire, you will stay by Teddy and my side forever right?"
"I..." She trailed off thinking about it. She has never really thought about what happens after she becomes a vampire. "I...want to." She said knowing it was the truth. "I want to stay by your side." She confessed. Kanato smiled and then turned and left her in the dark alleyway by herself. "Kanato?" She called after him feeling confused. Then suddenly a man Chi didn't know came tumbling into the alleyway with such force that he smashed his head on the wall on the alleyway. Kanato appeared around the corner as the smell of sweet blood filled Chi's nose. The man slumped on the floor, now un conscious.
"He's yours." Kanato said.
"What?"
"He is your prey. Feed off him and stay by my side." He said simply. Chi's throat was so dry and the smell of blood was so sweet and so prominent. "If you really do love me like you said you did, you'll do as I say." Chi sighed but found her body moving towards the man. Her body seemed to be moving by itself, while her brain was still telling her that this was a disgusting act. There was a war going on in her head. Between her starving vampire half and the dying human half that she kept clinging too so desperately. Chi bent down beside the man and reached for the red river pouring from his wound. Her fingers touched the warm sticky blood and her hungry increased. It became unbearable. She leant in further and licked her blood that run down his neck. As soon as it touched her tongue she gasped. The flavour was even more amazing that Kanato's, she immediately felt a great need for more, much more. She opened her mouth and sunk her fangs into his neck. She drank in silence, enjoying the taste but the more she drank the quieter the voice that told her what she was doing was wrong got, until eventually it was completely gone and for the first time in a while there was only one voice in her head. Only the voice of the vampire that was now full awake. Chi pulled away and saw the man's skin had become like porcelain, his body completely drained of blood. Chi hadn't even thought about it, she just drank without thinking about the life she was taking away. The man was dead, because of her. Chi backed up away from him and pressed her back against the wall opposite, breathing hard in shock and sitting on the floor. Blood was slowly trickling down her chin but she didn't bother wiping it off. She felt something tickle the back of her arm and looked down to see a long curtain of black hair, her hair. It had grown from it's usually short chopped haircut to long and beautiful. Her eyes also became an even brighter blue making them seem to glow under the moonlight. Kanato smiled at her and bent down next to her with Teddy placed gently on his lap.
"Your so cute." He said wiping some of the blood from her chin. "Me and you can live together forever now." He said happily. "Hold Teddy, he doesn't like getting dirty." He said holding him out to Chi. Chi gently took him into her arms, eyes still wide. Kanato stood up and got a lighter out of his pocket. Just he dropped it on the man's corpse and watched as it became to burn brightly in the night. Chi stood up noticing that she felt different and not just because of her hair. She felt strong, powerful and sure of herself. It was so strange but it was not a bad feeling. Chi held Teddy in one arm and lifted her hand up to look at it. She clenched and unclenched her first. She could feel power surging through her. She looked up to see Kanato watching her closely.
"Can we go home now?" She said only noticing after she said it that for the first time she thought the Sakamaki mansion as her home...
