Five

I stared at myself in front of the mirror and touched my eyebrows.

I sighed when I remembered what the three Babes aka Kaka, Chichi and Bibi said to me the other day.

"Kailangan mo ba talagang gawin yan? Hindi kaya lalo syang lumayo sayo dahil hindi ka nagpapakatotoo?", those were Chichi's words during our early dinner. Chichi who was always a lady with few words, dropped those questions.

Even her friends, Kaka and Bibi, were surprised with her reaction.

"I have to do this. I need to act like one so that I can keep up with my role at night." Those were my answers to her.

Nadulas kasi ako in the middle of our conversation that I was looking for my parents' killers and I have to keep up with the mastermind's game.

I also recalled what they said about me being in tune with myself. That I don't have to try too hard to be gay.

That I don't need to exaggerate my moves and mannerisms. That beki or gay language and a cheerful disposition are enough.

I recently found out that Amanda was hired early this year at Park So Young's company.

A friend of mine who's a shareholder at his company told me about it when he bumped into her at the corridors of the building.

My thoughts were distracted when a loud ring from my cellphone interrupted it.

My forehead creased when I noticed Romeo's name on the screen.

Instead of putting it against my ear, I swiped to place him on speaker.

"Dude, bro, tol!" came his excited voice.

"Ano na naman yun? Ano kailangan mo?" I asked and adjusted my necktie.

Yup. Necktie. I know I am used to this formal attire since I have been to many events but wearing it as a corporate attire is quite too unlike me.

I am much more comfortable with polo shirts, muscle tees and sandos in broad daylight.

But, since, I have a goal to accomplish, I have to be accustomed to the culture.

" Grabe sya oh! Na-sight ko ang love of your life sa isang coffee shop near the office. Ano, kelan ka na gagalaw? Petsa na!" He asked and I heard the loud honks of the cars on his side. He must probably be driving.

"Why do you care so much about my love life, Romeo? I'll get started on it soon. Happy?" I shot back at him.

Today is the schedule of my meeting with the CEO, Park So Young, where I get to be given an exemption of undergoing pre-employment exams and such since I have one of the highest shares in the company.

Even if I have no idea why Park just agreed with it knowing he is strict when it comes to work.

Yes. You read it right. When my friend told me about it, I was motivated to invest in Park's company.

I know he will handle the finances well.

Apart from that, I already have a plan on how I will start working at his company and what my speech will be once someone asked about my history with the company.

Everything will turn out well.

It should be.

I have everything planned out and polished before I even began.

"Good! Good! I'll be looking forward to that!" Romeo said. "Gotta go! May nagkakagitgitan na dito sa kalsada. Baka madamay pa etong auto ko. See you later, bro!"

With that said, he hung up and I sighed.

I turned my wristwatch and checked the time.

It's almost three in the afternoon. I'm supposed to meet Park at four o'clock in his office.

I grabbed my car keys and placed my phone inside my pocket.

In a few minutes, I will be starting to familiarize myself with his company.

I drew a deep breath and tried to smile naturally at Park when he told me to sit across him inside his office here at the topmost floor of his building.

"So, why, of all successful companies did you chose to invest in us and why work here?" Park asked crossing his right leg over the other.

"Honestly, yours is better than them. I know you can rise up and handle your stocks well. I also made a thorough background check about your other ownerships and found out that they are doing well and even better." I explained and maintained an eye contact with him.

"Why do I have to work? I want to hone my skills in people management. I am a graduate of Human Resource Management and this is a great opportunity for me. This is a wonderful chance to enhance my capabilities." I added and he nodded at my response.

"Alright. You're already hired. I just want to know your intentions before I let someone in here." Park said and smiled at me.

"Fantastic! Thank you!" I exclaimed and grinned at him.

"So, welcome to the company, Jessica." Park said and extended his hand for a handshake.

"Thanks, Mr. Park." I said in formality and shook his hand.

Yes, I told him that I am gay for him not to be surprise if ever people will start to gossip around about me.

"See you next week, then." He said and pulled out his hand.

"Thanks again and have a great day ahead!" I said and stood up. I gave him a brief nod before I left his office.

I went inside the elevator and pressed B for basement parking and waited.

A couple of seconds, people started filling the elevator as it is after office hours already.

I was brought to the back of the elevator when I caught a glimpse of a brown hair and small Korean-like eyes.

My own eyes widened and my heart thumped like crazy.

There, about two people in front of me, stood Amanda Catalin.

My bestfriend.

And, my childhood crush.
