Chapter Four
The sun shined through the bay window in my bedroom as the lime green curtains were pushed to the side. I rolled onto my side and groaned seeing my alarm clock say it was barely seven AM. But even this early in the morning I could hear the sounds of my family members in the rooms around me.
Andi and Aurora were arguing about something in their bathroom across the hall, and I could hear Damian playing his electric guitar unplugged on the other side of my wall. I tried to block out their noise as I was still exhausted from the events that happened the day before. I put a pillow over my ears and tried my best to fall back asleep but my attempts were useless as I heard a crash in the twins bathroom, and then the yells from my mother downstairs.
Everything seemed to quiet down in my siblings rooms and I was almost back asleep, until a certain someone came barrelling into my room like a hipogriff and jumping on my bed.
"Damian go away!" I shouted into my pillow as my dear brother was jumping up and down making my bed shake.
"Can't, dad said to wake you up!" He said semi out of breath as he continuously bounced on my white bedspread.
"Why?" I whined looking at him with one eye open. I was shocked to see he was actually dressed and awake before noon. I was normally the one dragging him out of bed, not the other way around.
"Were going to some place called Diagon Alley, we have to get our school crap." He said finally realizing him jumping on my bed was only making him tired rather than waking me up. I sighed before yanking his ankle causing him to fall down beside me.
"Can you leave so I can get ready then?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Nah, I think ill do your hair." He said flicking a piece of hair that was laying on my pillow.
"Oh god." I chuckled, slapping his arm before jumping out of bed.
"Unless you want to be scarred for life you may want to leave soon." I called out and shut the bathroom door behind me. The warm water fully woke me up as I lathered my coconut shampoo and matching body wash and was quickly finished. I wrapped a silver towel around my body and peeked out the door to see Damian finally left.
Quickly getting dressed in some normal jeans and a plain white t-shirt that fit tightly and letting my hair dry in its natural waves. After slipping my wand into my back pocket and giving Olive a treat I made my way into our families dining room where my family was gathered loudly eating their breakfast.
"There's my champ," My dad said as he peeked over the Daily Prophet that I saw had a picture of the mark in the sky that I saw the night before. I shuddered at the thought of what I saw the night before, and took my seat beside Damian who of course was stuffing his face full of bacon.
"What time are we going mom?" I asked our mother who was starting to clear some of the dishes away from the table with her wand.
"As soon as your brother is finished eating the entire contents of our home." My mom said with a sigh as she motioned to my brother who was once again piling his plate with potatoes and eggs. It was a good thing Damian played quiditch so much or he would be gaining an awful amount of weight by how much he ate.
After about fifteen more minutes of everyone watching Damian eat everything in sight we were finally huddled around the fireplace. We were taking floo powder to Diagon Alley, wherever it was.
"I'll go first, and wait for you all there." My dad said, quickly kissing my mom before shouting his location in the fireplace before he was engulfed in green flames and was gone.
My sisters went next followed by Damian, I forgot my bag upstairs so I told my mother I would follow right behind her. I grabbed my small bag with my wizard money and quickly clambered through the fireplace and was engulfed in bright green flames before I felt myself fall onto a completely different ground than the one before.
"Why, fancy meeting you here." I heard a familiar voice say behind me. I noticed I was in a large bookshop with crooked shelves and dusty books lining the walls. And when I turned around I was face to face with the handsome blond boy from the quiditch cup.
"Hey Draco," I smiled and dusted the floo powder off of my clothes. I bent down to grab my bag that fell and lost my footing causing me to fall straight into Draco's arms.
"Falling for me already?" He asked with a smirk and helped me regain my composure.
"Shut up." I laughed, smacking his arm.
"Have you seen my brother around?" I asked trying to look through the crowds of witches and wizards that were crowded around.
"Now, why should I tell you that information Miss.Soloria?" He asked crossing his arms over his chest and leaned against the stair's railings.
"Whatever, don't tell me." I said nonchalantly and walked away from him. Draco was clearly a pompous young man. Cute, but arrogant. And arrogance was unbecoming of a person.
"Finally, there you are!" Said my mother as I found my family standing in line at the register.
"Sorry, a certain blonde didn't want to tell me where you went." I said shrugging my shoulders as my brother shoved a pile of school books in my arms. I looked and these books were a lot thicker than the books back home, and there were a lot of them.
After having my arms cramped for an hour carrying pounds of new school books, we finally paid and got to leave the over crowded book store. Each of us carrying different levels of knowledge in our arms. Aurora and Andi groaned as they had a few more than me and Damian and there's were a lot larger. And it took us even longer than normal to get our uniforms, as the twins kept complaining to make their skirts shorter and their tops tighter, while me and Damian were practically falling asleep in the chairs off to the side.
"Wanna sneak to the quidditch store?" Damian whispered beside me as Andi once again was fussing over which robes to pick. Our mom was talking something over something with the seamstress and held my bag of robes that were fit a couple of hours ago as I didnt care what they really looked like. And our dad was pacing and writing something down probably for work.
"You bet," I agreed and we quickly sneaked out into the alley.
The quidditch store was so much bigger than the one back in the states, as the wizarding community was a lot smaller. There was a whole section devoted to my favorite team the Bulgarians and immediately that was the area the pair of us ran to. I was about to yank a signed snitch by Krum when another pair of hands beat me to it.
"Oh, hey Alisanna." Harry said and pulled his hand away quickly as our gently grazed.
"Call me Ali, Harry." I said with a friendly smile. "Ok Ali, you're a fan?" he asked motioning to the t-shirts that were in my arms. I nodded enthusiastically earning a chuckle from him.
"Oh there ya are Harry!" Someone behind him exclaimed and I saw the pretty girl and red headed boy I saw with him at the world cup.
"Oh, hello there!" The girl said when she saw me, and I received a friendly smile.
"I'm Hermione Granger and this is Ronald Weasley." She said motioning to the long haired red head beside her. I waved to the pair of them
"I'm Alisanna Soloria, but call me Ali." I smiled. Ron nodded slightly before looking down at his feet and Harry just kept a goofy grin on his face.
"Ali, have you seen these new beater bats they have here?" My brother asked behind me. He saw who I was standing with and joined us but giving Ron and Harry skeptical looks as a typical older brother.
"I'm Ali's brother Damian," he said nodding to the three. Ron and Harry both turned beet red and looked towards the floor, but Hermione seemed unfazed and smiled wider at him.
"I'm Hermione, will you be at Hogwarts with us as well?" she asked, her happy smile never leaving her face. Damian moved his gaze from Ron and Harry and smirked at Hermione.
"Well of course, love" He said making me roll my eyes. Always the flirt, my brother.
I saw our family waving to us outside the shop so I quickly paid for mine and Damian's shirts and walked back to the group. Damian was trying to work his typical charm on Hermione while Harry and Ron stood beside them looking pretty awkward.
"Do you guys play?" I asked softly shifting the bags in my arms. Ron and Harry jumped slightly and then smiled seeing it was just me.
"I'm a seeker at Hogwarts." Harry said proudly.
"I play at home with my brothers, but not at school." Said Ron.
I just smiled and then attempted to drag my brother away from Hermione who was oblivious to my brothers flirting and talking about some book she read. "Damian, mom's about to blow up outside." I said motioning to our mother who was tapping her foot impatiently at the two of us and motioning to her watch.
Damian laughed and then kissed Hermione's hand "Until we meet again." And with that she actually blushed.
"See y'all at school...maybe I'll make your team Harry." I said winking and walking out of the store with my brother. "She was nice." Damian said, glancing back towards Hermione.
"Yeah uh huh." I laughed, dragging him to our annoyed family.
"About time! I need to get dinner started." My mother huffed and followed behind our sisters who were comparing something that looked like shoes in a bag. We entered the smoky leaky cauldron and I saw Draco sitting at a table with a young woman I assumed to be his mother. He saw me and gave me a small wave and a wink, I just smirked and shook my head at him. The green flames once again engulfed my family and we all stumbled into our living room one after the other.
~
The week before school started consisted of my mother trying her hardest to get our family to do every single thing together, unfortunately for her we all had different plans in mind. My father spent most of his time at his office and was rather exhausted when he came home for dinner at night. My sisters kept shopping and walking around the neighborhood to get a glimpse of a single cute guy. And Damian and I of course played quiditch everyday but we did decide to set some time aside for our mom who was having a hard time letting us all go.
"Mom we will be fine." I groaned as my mom was hugging me as tight as she could on the platform in front of the Hogwarts express.
"I know, you're just my baby." She cried into my hair, and I saw Damian and the girls snickering in front of me making me roll my eyes. I heard a horn sound making my mother hug me tighter.
"Honey come on, you will smother her before she has a chance to leave." My dad laughed, shrugging her off of me. I smiled at my dad and he kissed my head and ruffled my hair.
"See you soon champ, if you make the team we will be at every game!" He said with a warm smile.
"Like always" I said and waved them goodbye before joining my siblings on the train.
The train ride was long and uneventful, and I slept majority of the time. We all sat in a compartment together, as me and Damian were the only two who knew anyone that went here yet. It only felt like a second when my eyes closed when my sisters were poking me awake. I had fallen asleep on Andi's lap as she was playing with my hair. "We're here, Ali." She said softly. I rubbed my eyes and noticed it had fallen to night outside.
Hogwarts was so beautiful it had taken my breath away... The lake was so still and peaceful as we silently rode in boats to the gorgeous castle. It was huge, and I knew we would get lost daily but I could tell we would definitely enjoy it here. The school in Texas was a lot smaller and maybe only housed a few hundred people, Hogwarts definitely fit a lot more.
"Welcome to Hogwarts!" An older stern looking woman with glasses said as we made our way up a large staircase with the first year students, who all looked terrified of us. Damian was a big guy and his arm muscles were enough to frighten any eleven year old, that is what 13 years of playing a beater would do to you. And the twins were so gorgeous, even at eleven years old the boys would stare. And they probably were wondering if I was just a tall first year or someone else.
"This place is huge." Aurora whispered beside me, I nodded in agreement and we nervously followed the stern woman inside two giant wooden doors. The room we walked in we found out was the great hall and it fit the name properly, as it was the largest room I had ever been in. There were hanging candles and a bewitched sky, but the thousand or so students staring at us is what caught my eye and made me sweat.
"Hello first years, and our new transfers! Everyone we have four new transfer students from America who will be sorted first!" An older man with a long white beard said, and I tuned most of his speech out as the numerous eyes around me were freaking me out. I caught Harry's eye and he smiled, Draco who was at the table behind him smirked and winked. I turned back to the front when I heard my brothers name called.
"Damian Soloria!" The stern woman called and Damian strutted to the small stool and had an old dirty looking hat placed upon his head.
He sat twiddling his thumbs for a moment before the hat shouted "SLYTHERIN!" and he smirked before taking the empty seat beside Draco. We all knew about the houses, as we made sure to read hogwarts a history before starting school. Damian caught my eye and gave me a nervous grin, we both were worried about not making it into each others houses—especially when quidditch came around.
"Aurora Soloria!" My sisters name was called and she slowly climbed to the seat my brother once sat. she smiled brightly at me before taking the seat. "RAVENCLAW!" The hat shouted and she joined the cheering table with the hanging blue tapestry. Andi gave me a nervous look as she watched her twin sister go to the opposite side of the hall as our brother.
"Andriana Soloria!" And Andi was next.... "HUFFLEPUFF!" and I could see how upset she was.
I frowned knowing I wouldn't be with all of them together. Andi wiped a tear before joining some older boys at the end of the table full of yellow ties. "Alisanna Soloria!" The stern woman called my name and I tried my best to hide my shaking hands.
I could feel the sweat rolling onto my brow as my nerves only intensified as the hat was placed on my head. "Ahhh a very special witch indeed..there is something I can't quite place about you...a lot of talent indeed...hmmm yes..yes... GRYFFINDOR!" The hat yelled and a cheer erupted from Harry's table and I saw him scoot down to make room for me to sit beside him. I sighed and looked at my siblings and best friends that were now scattered all over the hall. Damian gave me a sad smile and the girls looked miserable without each other.
"Welcome to Gryffindor!" Hermione said cheerfully as I took the seat beside Harry and in front her.
"Are your sisters twins?" the twin red heads I recognized from the quidditch cup asked me together. I was used to the twin talk by now.
"Yeah, they're fraternal twins." I said giving them a smile. "Sweet." They said and high fived each other. I laughed and shook my head before turning around to see Damian.
" You'll be fine." He mouthed to me and smiled. But my family was my rock, and I didn't know how I would really be ok...I just hoped the people around me would be enough.
