Splitting Up

*Y/N'S POV*

As she and I went through the door, I was met with a smaller sized corridor. A loud deep roar shook the entire facility before dissipating.

"The fu——fudge was that?" I looked at Serena. She just shrugged. I then heard my walkie go off. I picked it up and put it up to my mouth.

"Connor, do you read me? This is Y/n and Serena, over." I spoke into it, pressing the button on the side.

"This is Connor. I can read you loud and clear." He spoke back.

"Good. What's my objective at the moment?" I asked him, walking with Serena to the door.

"You'll need a keycard to get to some places that are very important. Look on finding one first."

"Yes sir. What was that loud roar earlier?" I was curious about it, as it did shake the facility.

"SCP-682. It broke containment as well as 173." He said.

"I see. Uhh, I'll talk to you in a bit." I put the walkie away and opened the door. When she and I walked through, several d-class looked in our direction with widened eyes and a horny expression. It was a medium sized corridor.

"Ah Crap!" I yelled aiming my gun at the subjects running towards me. I put Serena behind me,

"Give her to me!!!" One said

"I want her so badly, I'm going to ravage her until she can't even breathe!!!" Another one said.

"I'm going to fuck her so much that I'll have to create new holes after I'm done with the ones she's got!!" Each of them said they're own thing when running at me and Serena. I shot the farthest one in the leg, stopping his movements for a bit. Then, I smacked the closest one in the face with my pistol, staggering him before shooting him through the chest. The last guy I cleanly just shot him between the eyes. I looked behind me to see Serena crouching with her hands over her ears and her eyes closed.

"It's over." I pat her head. She looked up at me.

"Why... Why do you have to kill them?" She asked me.

"Look, I hate killing people too, but it's the only way we can protect ourselves. The only way I can protect you. As I said earlier, you've got to get used to it until we get out of here." I said to her as I helped her up. She nodded.

"Hey, I remember Connor mentioning Iris..." She started speaking.

"Yeah? What about her?" I asked.

"She and I know each other, since we were from the same site before now."

"I just now realized that... do you know where she is now?"

"No... I'm sorry... I wish I knew so I could tell Connor, but they denied any information when I asked." She hung her head down.

"I'm sure she'll turn up eventually."

"I hope I can see her again."

"Bet Connor does too." After the bit of talking we had, I heard something I didn't want to hear, the sound of a Boulder being dragged on the ground. I quickly turned around towards the sound, knowing what it was.

*Connor's POV*

After splitting up with the two youths, I went my own path through the door of the room we were all previously in. I looked into the next room, seeing several guards that I worked with, but didn't know. I pulled out my gun, put it to my chest, and walked forwards. They were guarding a door that I needed to go through.

"Identify yourself." One of them said, pointing their gun at me. The rest did the same. I sighed and took my helmet off, holding it in my hand.

"Connor O'Brian. Sector 7A. Just let me through." I spoke seriously, but calmly. They lowered their weapons as I walked to them.

"We cannot let you pass, O'Brian." They stepped in the way of the door.

"Why is that?" I asked.

"You have an assigned sector. You must remain there until further notice. Since you're a part of the subject sector, you need to terminate any examinees that try to leave."

"I know, I'm trying to grab something to help complete that task, now let me by."

"I don't believe we can do that." The guy pointed his gun at me.

"Do you realize I am above all of you in rank? You will not disobey me. Let me through." I walked forwards more, the rest of them pulling out their guns. Hmph... dumbasses... they think that they're tough shit. I've been doing this longer than they've been alive. They're new here anyways.

"We will kill you if you persist. Put your weapon down and back off or we will terminate you." The guy stepped forward towards me.

"Alright alright..." Slowly, I put my Beretta down in front of them with a smirk on my face.

"That's right, now just walk back slowly and everything will be f-." He started to say until I punched him in the throat. I quickly pulled his M45 out from his belt and put him in front of me, facing the guard in front of him. I started shooting the guy I was holding multiple times through the back of his gut. I threw the dead guard on top of the standing one, knocking the two down. I turned around quickly, throwing the pistol at a soldier's head, staggering him. I ran at him and grabbed his larger weapon, smacking him with the butt-end of it. I then lit him and the guard next to him up like a goddamn Christmas tree. The last guy on the ground shoved his dead lackey off of him. Then, I shot him in the knees and elbows so he couldn't move. He screamed in pain and agony. I put a pistol in my holster and grabbed my rifle as I moved to the door, putting my helmet on afterwards.

"PLEASE!!! KILL ME!!! DON'T LET ME SUFFER!!" He yelled, crying his eyes out.

"Me? Kill you? I'm not going to kill you." I looked at him with an serious look on my face.

"H-Huh???" He whimpered in pain. I looked at my rifle and I threw it next to him.

"Do it yourself." I said to him. His face became horrified, him knowing his grim fate. I walked through the next door.

"WAIT!!! PLEASE!!! DON'T GO!!!" He cried. I could hear him from the other side of the door. I only ignored him. I knew where I was going and it was to that SCP. I went in to the leftmost door and looked at the sign.

"Ah.. SCP-914... I need this right now." I swiped my card and the large door opened to a gigantic machine. It had an input and an output section with a dial in the middle and a switch. I took off my thin bullet vest along with my flimsy M45 that I got from the soldier. I went over to the left side of the machine and tossed the two items in. I then went to the dial and turned it to Very Fine, then flipped the switch. Both doors closed and I waited for a couple seconds. After a bit of waiting, both doors opened up. I looked into the right door of the machine to see a FN SCAR 17, and a slightly thicker bullet vest.

"The fuck? How did I get a SCAR out of an M45?" I asked myself as I put on the vest and picked up the assault rifle. After collecting my gear, I shrugged and moved on to the door that led onward. When I walked through, I readied my keycard. I went through a checkpoint and into heavy containment and walked on.

*Y/N'S POV*

I looked behind me to see the sculpture himself, SCP-173. My heart stopped in that moment. Looking at the entity, made my own vision go blurry, not from the stench, but from the mere presence of the monster. It was damn scary.

"S-S-Serena!! Look at it! Look at it, now! Do not take your eyes off of it!" I yelled. We both looked at the creature as I slowly pulled out the walkie.

"This is Y/n and Serena to Connor, over!"

"This is Conner, What's your status?"

"We are in a bit of trouble!"

"What's going on?!"

"173 is right in front of us.... we are staring right at it..."

"Okay okay! Just go through a door and close it while looking at him. It'll keep him at bay for a while."

"Alright." I put the walkie away.

"What do we do?" Serena asked, looking at me.

"Don't look at me, look at it, and try your hardest not to blink!"

"S-Sorry!!" She looked back at it.

"We are going to walk backwards and go through that door behind us." I said as I started taking steps backwards. Serena did the same. We both did blink, but at different times so that we could still have eye contact on the humanoid potato looking piece of shit. When we got to the door, she and I accidentally blinked at the same time. Suddenly, 173 was right in front of us once again. My heart stopped once more and Serena almost fainted. I rubbed my hands against the wall behind me until I found the button. I pressed the button and she and I went through. Afterwards, I quickly pressed the other button, closing the door. After closing the door while being in such a panic, I put my back to the door and slid down it, sitting on the ground.

"Are you Okay, Y/n?" Serena looked at me with her cute and concerned eyes.

"Yeah, I'm alright. Whew, just gimme a minute." I ran my hand through my sweaty hair as I breathed in and out slowly and deeply.

"Hey, I don't think I've said this to you, but.... thank you.. for helping me escape.... I mean it..." She squatted in front of me.

"That's if we escape." I chuckled. I then brought my composure back to me as I stood up. We looked at the room, it being a circular type room with a door on the left and one on the right. There were several bodies on the floor, 2 of them soldiers and one of them was a D-class.

"It seems that we're safe for now." Serena said as I started checking the dead bodies for anything I could use. I found a spare combat knife and some extra ammo.

"Yeah.. we can catch our breaths for a bit. I found a knife, which is good." I could use this for getting in places, killing d-class that gets too close without wasting bullets, and other shit.

"Hey... Y/n.... I have a request..."

"Yeah? What is it?"

"Can you... cut my hair a bit, maybe? It's getting too long and it's kind of a pain in the butt." She asked me to cut her hair with my newly acquired knife.

"You.... want me to cut your long hair?"

"Mhm.. if-if you don't mind... if you don't want to, you don't have to." She nodded. I looked at her and walked over.

"Alright... I'm doin this because I love you. Brace yourself!" I grabbed all of her hair from behind and I quickly sliced through it all a quarter of the way up. A lot of hair fell onto the ground as she yelped in pain.

"Ow!!" She winced. I took a step back and saw her. Her hair was now down to the middle of her back, instead of down to her rear.

"Okay, you're good. Your hair is shorter now, hopefully that helps."

"It does, thanks a bunch, Y/n. How does it look?"

"I mean, you still look as cute as you were when I first met you, but I'm no stylist when it comes to hair." I chuckled. Her face went a bit red. I put my knife away.

"T-thanks."

"We need to press forward."

"Let's radio Connor and ask which door to go in." She suggested.

"Good idea." I pulled out my walkie and spoke.

"Connor, we're safe. We found a couple guards and a D-class dead in here. There are two doors, one on the left and right."

"Go to the left." He replied back. I put the walkie away and went through the left door with Serena and suddenly I heard soft crying. We were in a small hallway. On the left was a door with two windows to the right of it. I then realized what the crying was and my eyes shot open in fear.

"Someone is crying, we gotta help him!" She went to the door to the side, about to press the button to it. Before she did, I quickly grabbed her arm, yanking her back towards me.

"No!! Do not open that door!" I yelled.

"Why?! There's someone crying in there!" She tried pulling away from me.

"No! That's not a person! That's 096! If you look at him, you're dead." She stopped resisting, looking at me.

"What?"

"Stay put." I said, letting her go. I crept towards the window and peeked in. I saw a reddish orange looking keycard on the desk counter. The large white figure hunched over and cried as the door on the other side of the room opened. A soldier walked in and looked directly at the entity. It then stood up quickly, screaming, crying, and mumbling incoherent words. Then suddenly, the guard tried shooting it. 096 then attacked the guard, spilling blood all over windows. I jumped backwards, startled by the sudden action. It was quiet until I heard the soft crying of the SCP again. I took a deep breath in and out.

"I'm going to go grab the keycard in there. We'll need it." I said. Serena got worried and held my hand.

"No! You're not going in there! You'll be killed!"

"Don't worry, don't worry. I have a sure fire plan that will definitely work." I said.

"Are you just saying saying that?"

"No, trust me. I got this. You, stay here and whatever you do, do not look at him in any way. Also, close the door behind me please." I said seriously. She nodded.

"Be safe." She said to me as I went to the door and opened it. I looked down to the ground and I walked in, Serena closing the door.

"Shit... shit... shit... shit." I mumbled to myself as I walked forward, eyes to the floor. This was so tense. As long as I don't look at his face, I'll be alright.. I made my way through the room and it was absolutely terrifying. I looked up a bit and saw the keycard on the counter while also seeing the pale, white, and skinny SCP in the corner of my sights. I quickly grabbed the keycard and went back to the door without looking at 096.

"Y/n! Help me!!" I heard Serena scream for help through the door, which scared me. I quickly pressed the button to open the door to find Serena, pinned down by a naked D-class.

"We're going to have so much fun! I'm going to use you as my personal toy!" I heard him say.

"No!! Please!! I'm not ready!! I can't! Please stop!! Get off of me!!" Serena screamed, trying to push him off of her. I quickly kicked him off of Serena and jumped on top of him, pulling out my knife, and stabbing him repeatedly in the neck. Blood went everywhere. I heard him choke on his own blood until he died. I breathed heavily, dropping the knife. I heard Serena crying behind me, but at least she was alright. I wiped the blood on my hand on the chest of the dead guy. I then stood up, closed the door to the room where 096 was and then walked over to Serena. She was lying against the wall, crying. I sat next to her and pulled her close.

"Y-Y/n..... H-He almost.. he... he..." She sobbed.

"I know.. I know... it's going to be alright." I tried to calm her down. After a bit of soothing her, she finally stopped crying.

"I hate my powers... I hate them so much.. if we do escape, what am I going to do?"

"I don't know yet... let's just escape first and then ask questions later... Alright?" I stood up and held my hand out to her. She took it while nodding, standing up as well.

"Okay..." We looked at the next door that was in front of us and it was slightly different than the ones we've been through before. We walked through and saw a large checkpoint area with the sign above saying, Heavy Containment Zone. I think I need to use my card for this door. I went up to it and inserted the card into the scanner. The doors opened and we walked through, the doors closing automatically a short second or two afterwards. We dove in to the new side of the facility.

*Connor's POV*

It's been about an hour or so since I've acquired my upgraded gear and entered into the Heavy Containment Zone. I was walking through a hallway when I saw a door to my left, it had a sign that read, Omega-Alpha Warhead Silo. I've heard about this. There are 4, 1kiloton nuclear bombs on the surface of this facility called alpha warheads. If they were to explode, everything above would be gone, leaving only the underground unscathed. Then, there is the 1, 5megaton nuclear bomb down there that if set off, will destroy the entire underground facility, surface facility and anything in a 5 mile radius. It's called the omega warhead. They're auto set to be remotely activated if nothing can be contained. I'm gonna make it so they can't set it off. I scanned my card and went into the elevator, pressing the button once I got inside. The elevator went down. When the door opened, I went to the right on the catwalk, opening the door to the control room with my keycard. I walked in and looked at the control panel. There were two levers. One for the alpha and one for the omega. I flipped them both off and nodded before leaving back for the elevator. After getting out of the elevator, I kept walking onwards. I went into the next room, seeing that there was only a small hallway into right turn that led into a larger room. I got to the edge of the wall and peaked around. In the larger room, I saw tons of small time guards. More than I had to deal with earlier. I looked and there was a door on the right and one in the front.

"Damn, how am I going to deal with these guys?" I asked myself quietly. Suddenly, the side door opened up, a single soldier came in started open firing into the large crowd of guards. Guess it was my time. I then turned from around the corner and started capping heads until they were all dead except for the one that helped. I walked out from the small hallway into the larger room.

"Thanks for the help, soldier." The guy pointed his gun at me. Now that I look, it seems the guard was wearing a female uniform.

"Who are you?" She asked me.

"My name is Connor O'Brian." I replied. Suddenly, she dropped her gun and took off her helmet. My eyes widened in shock to see who it was. The blond hair... the blue eyes.. The voice... I took off my helmet.

"C-Connor?"

"I-Iris... Holy shit!" I was unbelievably surprised to see her again. I thought she was taken somewhere else but... no... she's here. She ran towards me with open arms and hugged me tightly, tears in her eyes.

"I missed you so much, Connor! I thought you were dead!" She cried, hugging me tighter. She looked older than the last time I saw her. She's growing up fine.

"Yeah... I'm glad I'm not dead. Honestly." I stroked her hair.

"Oh, and 166 is alive and well. A kid that I've brought here is helping her escape." I said.

"Thank goodness.."

"So, how did you get out?" I asked her.

"I'll explain it later, where are you headed?"

"I'm heading to the Entrance Zone. I'm meeting 166 and Y/n there."

"Y/n?"

"That's the kid I mentioned earlier."

"Oh. What's the plan on escaping?"

"I was thinking, Gate B... We have to get the door open for SCP-079, So we can get him to open the gate." I proposed.

"Not a bad idea, but he has most of the doors in the area on lockdown, so we'll need to find the electrical room so we can unlock and get into his cell." She added to my proposal.

"Right."

"First, we need to get to the door mechanism here and unlock it, though we'll have to deal with SCP-049.. it will help us bypass the lockdown to the entrance zone.

"Knowing where Y/n and 166 are going, they'll be the ones to do it. We gotta put our trust into them when they get there. Also, Y/n gave 166 a name, being Serena. So, call her that, please."

"Interesting. Also, while we're here we need to contain 106. It will severely help our progress of getting out of here." She suggested.

"Alright. Let's move forward."

"Yes sir." She smiled at me. God I missed her. We moved deeper into the Zone.

*Y/N's POV*

We walked throughout the Heavy Containment Zone. It was very different from the big, white, open hallways from the Light Containment Zone. This one had small, narrow, and dark corridors. It was scary. Suddenly, my walkie went off.

"Connor to Y/n and Serena.. do you copy?"

"Yes, what's up?"

"I have successfully located Iris Thompson."

"No way!!" I said.

"Are you serious!?" Serena asked.

"Hello Serena. Good to speak to you again." I heard a female through my walkie. Serena's eyes lit up.

"Iris!! I'm so happy to hear your voice, it's been so long."

"It has. Look, we'll talk more when we see each other at the Entrance Zone. Connor needs to say something." She said.

"Alright!"

"Alright, kids, you need to head to the Entrance Zone, but before that, you need to go and switch off the lockdown mechanism. When you do that, 049 will come to you, which means you gotta run. I'll keep giving instructions leading you to where you need to go, but for now, just find the control room. Radio me when you get far enough away from 049." Connor spoke.

"Alright, Y/n and Serena, out." I put the walkie away as Serena and I pressed on. After a long time of walking, we got to a door that had a sign which read, Entrance Zone Control Room. I used my card and opened it, both of us climbing the stairs to the top. There were a bunch of servers in the room and a smaller room in the back of it. I used my card again and we went in. I looked and there were a bunch of televisions in front of me, a red keycard in front on the floor, and a switch to the right. I picked up the keycard, then flipped the switch, which hopefully stopped the lockdown.

"Think that worked?" Serena asked.

"Hopefully." I replied. Serena then looked at the monitors.

"Uhhhhh.... Y/n?"

"Yeah, what's up?"

"Someone is coming."

"What?! Who?!" I walked over to her and looked at the monitor that was looking at the door that led to our location. I saw a hooded figure with—— and that's the plague doctor oh crap.

"What are we gonna do?"

"Nothing for now, he's blocking the exit." I said as I turned around, looking at the stairs we came from. The plague doctor came up to the top of the stairs and stopped, looking at us.

"Uhhhhh..... Hi..." I said loudly so he could hear me. He didn't respond. He then walked towards us.

"Hey hey hey!!! Stop... Stop!!" I yelled at him. When he got to the table in front of us, he stopped.

"I... am the cure.." He said.

"Look man, I don't know what you want from me."

"I do not wish to have you... I wish to have the girl... she needs to be... cured."

"You will not take her from me." I said angrily, holding her hand. He then walked towards us, going around the table. We ran around the other side walking out of the room. We then went down the stairs quickly going through the door to the left. It was still following us. I closed it behind. We kept running through more doors, closing them as we passed.

*Connor's POV*

We went through a lot of the HCZ (heavy containment zone) and finally found 106's containment area. I used my card and got in. We went down the stairs to the control room, where several levers and a monitor was located. On the screen showed a guy strapped into a metal chair. I turned off the field for the containment box. I looked to the right of the monitor to see the lever for Femur Breaker. I then looked at Iris. She sighed, knowing that we would have to sacrifice the man to contain 106. I pulled the lever which read Sound.

"Hello? Is anyone there?"

"I'm scared.."

"Hello?"

I heard him talk, terrified from being alone. I then pulled the lever for the femur breaker. 106 is attracted to people in pain... so... then.. we heard two snaps.. and a lot of agonizing yelling and crying. We looked at the monitor to see that 106 had entered the containment box. I quickly pulled the lever to bring the field back up. She and I quickly ran out of there. Our entire process of containing the old man was silent between us. After we got out of the containment area, I closed the door and looked at her.

"We contained 106..." She said

"Yeah.. we did. Good work."

"Yeah."

"So.. mind explaining how you got out and where you were?" I asked her.

"Sure... So, before the breach, I was put in heavy containment away from the dangers of the other SCP's. I kept asking if you were okay and they said nothing about you. I've been there, doing their bidding, questioning why I was even alive. Then, it happened. SCP-173 and 682 broke containment and so I was able to get out as well soon after. I walked around the facility in hopes of finding you, but it didn't turn out well for a while. I found some dead bodies and I took one of the female guard's outfits and the gun.. I then said to myself that you were dead so I tried escaping by myself until I found you and Here we are now."

"I see... damn... I'm so sorry.... for what happened back at site-17..."

"What? Why? It wasn't you're fault.. you were trying to save me." She said. I then realized, I never told her that I was the one that started it.

"Iris... it was my fault.. I was the one that started the gas leak... I... I blew up the pipes.."

"What?! You caused the incident?" Her eyes widened as she stepped back. I only sighed.

"After meeting you and getting to know you, I knew you hated being there. I knew you wanted to leave. So... I... wanted you to have that chance. You had no reason to be there and still have no reason to be here. That's why. I just didn't want to keep seeing you suffer."

"I... I see... you killed a lot of people."

"I know... and I hate myself for what I did, but I'm glad you're safe though. That's what matters to me."

"Can I... tell you something?" Iris looked at me, stepping back closer to me.

"Sure."

"You... are kind of like a father to me... I don't remember the last time I saw my mother or my father.. but you've always taken care of me and talked to me when you weren't allowed to. I thought my life was over when I was brought into the facility, but.. you've tried to rescue me and killed a lot of people while doing, now you're doing it again.."

"Iris...."

"I wanted to say... Thank you...." she smiled at me.

"Yeah... of course." I smiled back.

"Ready to head on to the Entrance Zone? The checkpoint is just up ahead." She pointed to the door to our left. I nodded as we walked.

*Y/N'S POV*

We finally went through like 6 random doors until we stopped. I didn't think he was following us anymore so we stopped and took a break to catch our breaths.

"I... I think we lost him." I breathed heavily.

"Y-yeah... I didn't like him.. he was really spooky."

"I agree, I hate him too."

"Where are we?"

"I dunno.. let's take a look around." I looked around and I saw a broken pedestal with a cowbell, and a broken wall next to it.

"You know where we are?"

"I have no clue where we're at. I'll radio Connor." I pulled out my walkie.

"This is Y/n and Serena, over."

"How are you two?"

"We had a run in with 049, but we managed to get away from him. I have no clue where we are."

"What is it like around you?"

"A cowbell, a broken wall, and some doors behind us."

"Okay, first thing, do not ring that cowbell. Go through the broken wall and head left and keep going straight. After 3 doors you'll make it to the checkpoint. Don't forget to put that shirt back on her before you get here."

"Alright! See you then!" I put the walkie away.

"Ready?" Serena asked me, standing at the broken wall.

"Yep! Let's move on." I said as we went through the next 2 corridors. We stopped at the last door.

"Why are we stopping?"

"You need to put some light clothing on, so Connor won't go crazy."

"Oh yeah, I forgot." I took the spare clothing out of my jumpsuit and handed them to her. It was the same clothes she had from right after the breach occurred. After she got them on. I looked at her.

"Let's go." I said, opening the door. She followed me as we went into the checkpoint. We looked to the right to see Connor and Iris standing there.

"Hey guys! Long time no see!" I said to them. Serena ran and tackle hugged Iris to the ground.

"It's good to see you again, Serena." They both got up. I held my hand out to Connor who gladly shook it.

"How you holding up, kid?" He asked me.

"I've been better, and I've been worse."

"Damn straight."

After our small reunion where we talked for a bit, we looked at the door to the entrance zone checkpoint.

"Are you ready guys?" I asked them. They all nodded. I knew the goal was almost in sight.
