Figuring Things Out
*Several Hours Later. ???'s POV*
We arrived at the newly created facility, Site-Zero Alpha. After the fall of Site-17, the foundation started production on the new facility, while the transported SCP's from Site-17 were put into Site-19. Site-Zero Alpha was originally modeled for housing SCP's if something happened at Site-19. We were lucky to have picked the kid up at the right time. I reread her bio and found out a couple new things about her since the last time I've read it. She was luckily wearing clothing while we took the boy, and even if she wasn't, she wouldn't have affected me. If my men were to have been affected, I would have shot them and took the child myself. To be honest, I was even luckier when I overheard Bright talk about having her and another SCP living out in Canada along with the kid. Even more, he said the coordinates to the damn place. What a easy break. I carried the kid throughout the halls of the facility with my four men behind me. After a while of walking, the boy woke up. He looked around, confused. We didn't know what he was capable of, but I took the risk. Since he's young, he probably doesn't know of his powers. Hell, I bet his parents didn't tell him about their past or the SCP foundation. I think the boy had the same powers as his father as he wasn't affected by her presence.
"W-Where am I?" He jumped out of my arms and started looking around in a panicked state. One of my soldiers grabbed him, restraining him. The other soldiers held their guns to the boy as he froze.
"Welcome to the SCP Foundation Facility Site-Zero Alpha, or better yet, welcome to Alaska." I said to him with a grin.
"What? What do you mean?"
"Let me put it into your terms: We are in a large building that houses super deadly creatures that we have to secure, contain, protect, and study. You are potentially one of them and so I brought you here to do the same. Some of these things could possibly end the world." I said in a more easier way for the kid to understand. His eyes widened in a bit of fear.
"But don't worry, we have everything under control here, sport."
"W-Where's Mom and Dad?" He started to tear up.
"Oh, don't worry. They'll be here soon enough, trust me."
"Why did you take me away from them?! What did they do wrong?!" He asked angrily.
"Your father... took something very precious away from me a long while ago, before you were born. This is just...well, lets call it equal punishment."
"Who even are you?" His question made me chuckle a bit out loud. I took off my helmet and mask to reveal myself.
"You may call me.... Director Clef..." Ah yes, I am head director of this facility. The Mysterious O5 council had a meeting and somehow allowed me access to the entire Site, faculty and staff. Most of the workers here are in fact women. Cute bitches under my every watch and word. Sounded too good to be true for me.
"Where are you taking me? What are you going to do to me?"
"One of my men is going to take you to a chamber where you'll be tested with a scientist or two. Go on, take him." I looked from the boy to the guard holding him. The soldier nodded as he walked with the boy down the hall and out of sight. I pulled out a cigar and lit it, taking a deep breath in.
"I need a drink.." I said as I breathed out the smoke from my mouth.
*Y/N'S POV*
The feeling of water hitting my face woke me up. I was on the couch with my head in Serena's lap. She was crying, her tears hitting my face and her smooth hand stroking my hair. She and I had bandages around the top of our heads to help the wounds from earlier.
"Y/n? Y/n!" Serena smiled happily with tears in her eyes.
"Serena..." I reached my arm up to her face and caressed her tear-soaked cheek.
"Thank the lord, you're okay!" I slowly sat up, holding my aching head.
"Connor... Damnit... I couldn't save him!" I said angrily, and groggily. I slammed my hand on the table in front of me creating a loud bang hurting my hand in the process.
"Good to see that you're awake, Y/n." The other officers were outside standing watch as one came in. Her name was Alina. She's the leader of the officers assigned to us that had a Russian tongue, but knew English surprisingly well.
"Thanks, Alina..." I rolled my eyes.
"Serena doesn't remember much of the event that happened, can you recall what happened at all?" She asked me. She really didn't care much for my health, she just needed answers.
"We were watching TV and Connor heard some noises outside and went to see if it was an animal or something. It turned out to be four heavily armed men. They busted down the door and two of them pinned us down while another had Connor."
"Anything else?"
"A man walked in. He seemed different from the others, maybe the leader of the four. He also seemed to know who Serena and I were somehow. That's all I can remember at the moment. It couldn't have been Bright, since he wouldn't do anything wrong."
"Interesting." She radioed in to Bright and spoke to him about everything.
"What are we going to do?" Serena asked.
"I don't know, Serena. I do know one thing though."
"What's that?"
"We're getting him back. No doubt in my mind."
"But how? We don't even know where they took him."
"Yeah, You're ri-.... WAIT!! I remember something! The guy said something about meeting back at Zero Alpha." I said, surprised I was even able to remember anything. Alina looked at me.
"Are you sure that's what he said?" She asked, putting the radio back to her face.
"I'm positive." I nodded. She spoke into the radio until her eyes widened a bit. She turned to me and handed me the radio.
"He wishes to speak to you." She said. I nodded again, taking the radio.
"Hello?"
"Good afternoon, Mr. L/n. I want to... apologize for what happened to your son. It must be very hard for you and Serena." He had a slight giggle to his voice.
"Bright, explain to me who did it, why, and where?" I said in an angry and serious tone.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to disclose who and why, but I do know where. Site-Zero Alpha is up in the Alaskan Wilderness. It's not too awfully far from here, since we're in northwestern Canada."
"Why cant you tell me who took him? I need to know!"
"That's private information, classified rather. O5's orders."
"And who the heck is this, O5?"
"A small group of people who have access to things even I can't access without their permission of course. People who know things that no one can ever know but them. People who control the entirety of the SCP foundation and what it does." He said to me.
"Oh.. So that's why you can't say anything."
"Precisely."
"Can't you just get the people at Zero Alpha to bring Connor back?"
"I'm not the director of that Site."
"Then who is?"
"Classified."
"Damnit! Hmm." I thought for a bit.
"I'm curious as to what you're pondering." He said to me.
"I'm figuring out a way to get our son back. I have a plan forming in my head at the very moment."
"Interesting, you're thinking about getting him back yourself?" I chuckled a bit.
"Oh yeah, It's all coming together." I grinned. Serena tilted her head in confusion.
"What do you mean?" She asked me.
"We will need Serena's file as well as mine. Wait, do I even have a file?" I asked him.
"I can arrange that, and yes, you do have a file."
"When will you be here?"
"Give me a couple days."
"Alright, I'll wait for you. When you get here, we'll speak in person about the full plan."
"Splendid." We both hung up on the radio as I handed it back to Sasha.
"What are we gonna do?" Serena looked at me.
"For now, nothing until Bright gets here."
*A Couple Days Later. Connor's POV*
I was stuck in a white cell with a bed, a table, and a bookcase full of books. I had several toys and other things strewn about that I played with. scientists came into my cell from time to time to give me weird tests to see how smart and how strong I am. It was really strange. Anyway, I---
Suddenly, the door opened as a scientist came in with a pencil and paper.
"Another test?" I rolled my eyes and asked, turning my head away from the lady.
"Look, I hate doing this as much as you do. I don't care about this facility or anyone in it. The director is an asshole who harasses the staff here all the time. We can't really do anything about it, so we just have to put up with it. Just, work with me here, okay?"
"Fine." I sighed afterwards, turning to her. She sat at the table as I scooted to the opposite side. She put the paper and pencil in front of me. I looked down at the paper and noticed that it was math. It varied from simple kindergarten math straight to.... I didn't even know what the heck that was... It literally gave me chills. The last test I did was history, which I did somewhat okay on. Mom and dad helped teach me a lot about most subjects, dad mostly.
I took a deep breath and did the best I could on what I knew. I was only 8 after all. After a bit, I stopped, knowing I couldn't continue with this torture. I put my pencil down and sighed.
"Is that all you can do?" She asked me.
"Yeah, I can't do anymore. My brain can't handle that much, plus, most of the stuff on here I couldn't even understand."
"I see. He has a normal mental capacity of an 8 year old in all subjects. He has also yet to show any signs of physical prowess." She said the last part into a small microphone connected to her lab coat.
"Is there anything wrong with me?" I asked her. I stopped being scared as nothing ever really happened with me, so I thought I was just a normal boy and not some strange creature that Director Clef told me about.
"So far... No, there's nothing wrong with you, besides being the product of two other SCP's. Though we will test again soon." She pushed her glasses up, then stood up. I only sighed. Suddenly, a cockroach entered the room. I smiled a bit, knowing I wouldn't be totally alone. The lady immediately stepped on it, killing it instantly. My smile turned into a frown. She left the room quietly, the remote door closing behind her with a whir and a thud. I crawled over to the dead bug, sadness in my heart. I put my hand over it, simulating a small grave. I then felt movement under my hand, so I lifted it to see the cockroach in perfect health. I stood up, stepped back, and looked at my hand nervously.
"D-Did I...?" My eyes widened. I didn't know what was going on. I suddenly got dizzy and super sleepy. I put my hand to my forehead. I felt... drained. A second ago, the roach was dead, its insides splattered on the white floor and its body parts in pieces. Now it's crawling around happy as can be.
"I'm... Gonna lay down for a bit. I'll worry about it when I wake up..." I walked over to the bed and laid down under the covers.
"I have no clue what just happened, but... it was kinda weird." I sighed before falling asleep.
*Y/N'S POV*
It's been a quiet couple of days, as there was no sign of Bright yet. We were able to clean the house up and put up a new front door since the dumbass soldiers busted it down. I had the plan carefully and meticulously drawn in my head. I had no clue what the layout of the site was, but I kinda just had to go on the fly. The officers were totally in the plan as well. They were the biggest piece of the plan actually. At the moment, Serena and I were sitting on the couch watching a bit of the cooking channel. Serena hates it when I watch Gordon Ramsey because he swears a lot. She has been worrying and worrying about this entire endeavor, which was normal. I was worried for my son as well, but I knew we were going to get him back no matter what. He doesn't deserve this, any of this. She then looked at me with a small frown.
"... Are you going to kill people again?" She spoke from the silence.
"Most likely." I sighed sadly, looking downwards. She looked down as well.
"Why... why must you have to kill people? Why cant you just sort out problems with words?"
"Serena, not everything can be solved with words. And not only that, we have a reason to be violent with them; Not just with the guy who took our son, but with the Foundation itself. You should be angry as well."
"I am... Just... I just can't bring myself to take someone's life away from them, no matter what they've done. That's not even because I'm religious, but my heart can't take that."
"I understand... I personally didn't want to go back to doing it again, but the foundation left me no choice. God I'm starting to feel a bit like John Wick now."
"Who?"
"Let's just say the greatest actor, rather, the greatest man to ever live." Suddenly, I heard the sound of a helicopter in the distance getting closer.
"It looks like he's here." She said, gulping a bit.
"Yeah..." The helicopter soon landed next to the house, the loud noise coming to silence. After a couple seconds of waiting, we heard the knocking on the door. I got up and walked to the door, opening it to see Dr. Jack Bright In casual clothing. It was kind of weird seeing him in this state, now knowing full well what he's capable of. Yes, I've read everything he's not allowed to do.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't Bright. How the hell are you?" I asked him. Holding my hand out for a shake. He firmly grasped it and shook it kindly.
"I'm alright. Sorry if I came a bit late, there's a reason for it."
"Come on in, so we can talk about the plan for the upcoming infiltration."
"Alright." He said. I moved out of the way as he came in. I shut the door and went over an sat next to Serena. He went and took off his shoes, then came and sat on the chair next to the couch where Serena and I sat.
"So what took you long?" I asked. I didn't really care that he took a bit longer than I wanted him to, but I bet he had a good reason, being a doctor and all.
"I did a lot of in-depth research on Zero Alpha. I was even able to visit there myself to see the place."
"Ah, I see. That's good. What did you find out?" I asked him.
"There aren't many anomalies there. The explosion of Site-19 was able to kill and destroy most of them off. The ones that survived were captured several kilometers away from the Site. The other ones were sent off to this site before the explosion."
"So, I'll expect to see some familiar faces when we go?"
"Precisely. Also, the size and layout of the facility is different. It is a lot smaller and less organized than Site-19."
"Interesting. So, everything is kind of close together?"
"Right."
"What if there were to be a breach at this one?"
"There are nukes on site if that were to happen."
"Good.... We'll probably need them."
"I-I see." Bright looked the other way, then back at me.
"Mind sharing the entirety of the plan with me?" He asked. The officers all came inside and stood around the couch to hear the plan.
"Yes, me too!" Serena looked at me. I sighed and nodded and proceeded to tell them the entire plan.
"Well, we start out by...."
*A Couple Hours Later. Connor's POV.*
I slowly awoke to a small headache. The last thing I remember was the cockroach coming back to life under my hands. I got up and fixed my bed the way my mom showed me how to. I looked around to try to find the cockroach that I somehow brought back to life. I then looked up and saw it right above me. I smiled a bit. It then fell off of the ceiling. I cuffed my hands and was able to catch it. I giggled and looked at it.
"I'm kind of happy to not be alone. I have you with me. You may not understand me, since you're just a roach, but I'm happy to have you here. I'm going to name you Papa Roach, after my dad's favorite band." I said to the little guy. Suddenly the same scientist from yesterday came in the room unexpectedly. I jumped a bit due to the metal door quickly opening without warning, the roach falling to the floor. Her eyes quickly fixed on the bug. After looking at her for a second, I realized she was carrying a good sized black case; almost like a brief case.
"Damn roaches, can't seem to die." She stormed over to it, stepping on it instantly, killing it once again. She made sure to twist her ankle a bit to rub it in on the roach. I frown once more.
"What is it do you want this time?" I asked her my own eyes fixed on the bug. She walked over to the table and sat down, setting the briefcase on it.
"Another test. Come, Sit." She ordered me. I sighed and walked over and sat with her.
"What am I to do on this one?"
"Open the case.."
"What is it?" I asked before putting my hands on the black case.
"Just open it. It's not a bomb, if that's what you're thinking." She rolled her eyes as I flipped each latch on the case, opening it up to reveal a clarinet. I tilted my head in confusion.
"A clarinet?" I asked.
"I want to see if you can put it together and play it correctly." She looked at me.
"I see." I didn't know exactly how to put it together, but I could figure it out with a bit of time. This was definitely easier than doing math. I looked at it and started piecing it together slowly, luckily being able to get it.
"Here, wet the reed with your mouth and put it on the mouthpiece." I did as I was told and she put the weird metal ring around the mouthpiece, keeping the wooden thing still.
"Okay, now what?"
"Play the instrument." I shrugged and blew into the clarinet. What you might have expected was the elegant sound of clarinet. That wasn't the case. It really sounded like a untitled goose getting stepped on by a big buff guy, peace never being an option. The lady covered her ears and I quickly covered mine, dropping the clarinet. The sound echoed throughout the chamber.
"OW!! That was loud!"
"Damnit, kid!" She got up and grabbed the clarinet off the floor. She took the wooden thingy off of the mouthpiece and threw it away in the trash can in my room before disassembling the instrument and putting it back into its case.
"Hey... Can I have some food? I haven't eaten much.... The only thing you feed me is cereal in the morning and give me water when I need it. I'm starving."
"No! Shut it. Go back to doing whatever till the next test." She said, leaving the room again with the case, which left me alone again. After a bit of silence, I looked over to the dead Papa Roach on the ground. I slowly walked over to it and crouched over it. I gulped a bit before putting my hands over it again like the last time. I was nervous, not knowing what was going to happen. Suddenly, I felt Papa Roach crawl out from under my hands. I stumble backwards onto the floor. It came back to life again. Looking at my hand again, I scooted back towards the wall, placing my back against it.
"A-Am I really.... one of them?? One of those... Creatures that he spoke about? I.. I... Feel.... Sleepy..." I soon close my eyes and sleep against the wall.
*Clef's POV*
I stood in my office, staring at the letter I tried to give to Meri on her 16th birthday many years ago. I kept reading it and reading it over and over, still questioning myself if it was a good idea to do what I did that day. I heard a knock come to my office door as I tossed the letter aside.
"Who is it?"
"Dr. Itsuki, Sir!"
"You may enter." She used her keycard to open the door to my office. The door opened and she walked in, pushing up her glasses.
"I finished another round of testing with the new subject."
"Results?"
"Nothing. He just seems to be a normal boy. Nothing special about him besides being the son of SCP-166. I don't see why we still have him here. Its so frustrating having to run these stupid tests with no results."
"It's for personal reasons, Dr. Itsuki. Reasons you wouldn't understand."
"Some weird family thing?"
"... Something like that." I looked away from her a bit.
"I'm sorry."
"It's nothing really. A brat took away my daughter, so I took their son."
"166 is your daughter?"
"It's a long story, don't feel like explaining it."
"Y-Yes, sir. So, what would you like me to do?"
"Keep running tests on him. His folks are sure to arrive soon to try and rescue him. I bet they're planning something big, I'll kill that bastard and take back what's mine." I giggled to myself evilly as I started twirling a Glock 17 in my hand.
*Y/N'S POV*
".....And that's basically the gist of it." I finished speaking. It took a couple hours of careful explaining to get it through to them. It took a while for Serena to understand it, but Bright had a small smirk on his face.
"Ah.. That's a very clever plan indeed. I'm impressed you thought of that. Well done." Bright cheered.
"Thanks!" I snickered happily.
"So, let me get this straight... We're getting locked up again?!" Serena asked, surprised.
"Yep! Trust me. We have to look to the officers to help us. They'll be the most important part of this plan." I said looking at Alina and the others. They nodded, knowing full well what to do.
"When are you planning on doing this?" Bright asked,
"Tomorrow morning." I said plainly.
"W-W-What?! I-Isn't that a bit too sudden?!" Serena asked me worryingly.
"It'll be fine. We have the files to prove that we've been captured. The officers will pose as working officers of the site. We just got to get there by heli."
"Will I be wearing clothing when I go in?" she asked.
"I... hmmm." I looked at Bright.
"Bright, was her file updated after her new clothes were made?"
"Yes, she should be able to wear her clothes I made her while she's being captive."
"Good, that makes it easier on us for escaping with Connor. How long will it take us to get there by heli?"
"Couple hours at best. We're not too far from the Alaskan border and the site is a bit further into the wilderness from there." Bright looked up in thought.
"Perfect. We're all set. I'll leave it up to you when we start this, Alina, everyone." I look around the room at the officers as they all nod.
"Bright, you go with Alina and the others, and be here early in the morning."
"Alright. See you two in the morning." Alina said, walking out the door with the other officers and Dr. Bright. After closing the door, Serena and I just looked at each other.
"Wanna go to bed?" I asked her.
"Sure. We'll need the sleep for tomorrow." She looked away.
"You alright?" I put my hand on her shoulder.
"I have a weird feeling... Something isn't right about the guy who took Connor. I don't know why, but..."
"Well of course something's not right about him. He took our son."
"That's not what I meant."
"Then what do you mean?" I tilted my head.
"I... D-Don't know." She looked lost in thought.
"Hey.. We'll get him back. And if we have to go through him to do so... So be it. I'll protect you and Connor with my life." I smiled at her. Her eyes teared up as she leaned forward and kissed me on the lips. I kissed back happily, holding her into my arms. After a couple seconds, we broke apart. I nodded at her as she did the same back. We then got up and went to bed to rest for tomorrows... Infiltration.
