06. lovers in the shade of

hangyul woke up the next morning, feeling happy already. it was probably because of last night that made him get up all giddy, skipping to dohyon's room and waking the boy up for school.

"it's time to wake up baby" hangyul giggled, rubbing dohyon's stomach, "you're adorable"

dohyon whined, rolling around so that he was on his stomach, "five more minutes mommy"

"you're going to be late dohyon" hangyul stroked his son's soft hair, "aren't you excited to see your friends at school?"

"jinwoo is sick so i don't want to go to school" dohyon mumbled, pulling the blanket up. hangyul frowned, hearing about the sick boy.

hangyul kneeled down by dohyon's bed, "don't you think jinwoo would be happy if you went to school?"

"of course not" dohyon rubbed his eyes, clearing his vision, "school is no fun with out woowoo"

hangyul sighed, a small smile still on his face, "but if you go to school, jinwoo can get better soon don't you think? i can also ask uncle wooseok and uncle jinhyuk to pick you up after school so that you can visit jinwoo"

dohyon's eyes flashed opened, nodding right away at the older. he got up, making his bed and walking to the bathroom to brush his teeth with hangyul. they both got changed and headed to the kitchen together, dohyon sitting on his chair while hangyul prepared breakfast.

"i don't want cereal mommy!" dohyon complained, pushing the bowl of cereal away, "i want milk bread!"

hangyul pushed the bowl to his son and smiled softly, "we ran out today baby. mommy promises to make more at the bakery"

dohyon being the good kid he was, reluctantly ate the cereal. he still wanted his milk bread, but he didn't want to see his mommy sad. he slurped the remaining milk and let out a refreshing 'ah' before taking his bowl and putting it into the sink.

"'m done mommy" dohyon exclaimed, running to the door to put on his shoes. hangyul got up to wash the dishes and hummed that he heard his son rushing off to pack his homework in his bag and set of clothes for his sleepover.

hangyul put on his own coat while dohyon put on his, slipping into his vans and opened the door of his apartment, "ready?"

dohyon nodded, grabbing onto hangyul's hand and holding one of hangyul's fingers. the walk to school was normal. they occasionally talked about random things and about dohyon's obsession with the dinosaur plushies he saw at jinwoo's house that one time— god he never stopped talking about that, but hangyul didn't mind.

"maybe we can buy a new one for jinwoo someday" hangyul suggested, looking both ways before crossing the street with dohyon right beside him.

"jinwoo likes pink mommy! mommy likes pink too!" the cheerful boy exclaimed, skipping along the path, "maybe we can get him a pink dinosaur!"

"of course we can" hangyul giggled, letting go of dohyon's hand once they were on school grounds. he watched as dohyon ran to the door and entered, after waving and kissing his mommy's cheek of course.

hangyul made sure dohyon went into the school before turning around and walking back to the cafe. maybe he'll see the ceo again. his cheeks turned pink at the thought of bumping into the vampire.

though he hadn't seen the ceo the whole day. he was at his night shift, all along in the bakery with a few customers sitting down and enjoying their dessert. dohyon was having a sleepover at jinwoo's place and he couldn't help but feel— empty.

what was he thinking? the ceo had better things to do then go visit a bakery. now he was the one being delusional, thinking that he had developed some sort of relationship with the older. god he was so stupid.

he went to sleep that night, feeling a bit of his heart broken into pieces. he decided that maybe it was because the ceo was busy preparing for the idols' comeback and that he'll visit tomorrow. that seemed to temporarily heal his broken heart.

however, that didn't seem to happen. the handsome ceo was nowhere to be seen.

"mommy" dohyon poked his mother's cheek when he got to the living room in his pajamas, "are you okay? you look sad mommy"

hangyul faked a smile, "i'm fine dohyonnie. you don't need to worry"

dohyon squinted his eyes, "i don't believe you mommy" he climbed onto the older's lap and settled himself down.

"you're smart aren't you?" hangyul pinched his son's cheeks, cooing at the soft squishy cheeks.

"of course i am! i'm mommy's son!" dohyon giggled, hugging hangyul with his tiny arms.

a smile crept on his face— a real one this time, "well you remember mr. ceo?"

the boy nodded, eyes lighting up once his smart little brain figured out why his mommy was sad, "mommy has a crush on mister?"

hangyul's cheeks reddened, surprised at how dohyon could easily figure that out at his young age, "w-well yes of c-course he's handsome after all"

"and mister hasn't shown up in two days and so mommy is sad?" dohyon cocked his head to the side, as if asking if he was correct.

hangyul's jaw dropped, nodding shortly after he regained his composure, "you're a really smart boy baby"

"mommy shouldn't be sad because of mister" dohyon pouted, "i'll protect mommy if mister hurts you or makes you cry!"

hangyul beamed, hugging his son tightly. he was so lucky to have such a beautiful, caring son, "well he is busy since he's a ceo dohyonnie. maybe i was just lucky to meet him personally"

dohyon shook his head, "mister really liked you mommy! and i'm sure mister is going to come to the bakery tomorrow!" dohyon reached up to pat his mommy's head, "so don't cry okay mommy?"

hangyul nodded, letting out a little giggle, "i love you dohyonnie"

"i love you too mommy!"

as if dohyon could predict the future, seungyoun did indeed show up at his bakery at the crack of when it opened. there was only one figure that hangyul knew was behind the black mask and black glasses. cho seungyoun.
