Getting to Know you

Your POV
He smiled warmly and shook my hand "The pleasure is mine, my name's Mark." Mark said politely. I smiled, I had to admit, he was charming. "You know..." Mark began "I was wondering when someone was going to introduce themselves to me." Mark said chuckling a little "I'm the first one?" I asked, already knowing the answer. "Well...yeah! Every one else would just stare at me... It was extremely awkward" Mark explained, I mentally rolled my eyes 'yeah, they're all too busy talking about how 'hot' you are' I thought, I began to slip from reality but quickly snapped back "Anyways, do you want to sit with me and my friends during lunch Mark?" I asked, smiling a little. "Sure, that'll give me time to know you all!" Mark said excitedly, I smiled, knowing we would become friends easily. But my smile soon came to an end whenever the thought of my absent best friend crept in my train of thought. "Anyways, I'll meet you during lunch!" Mark said turning to leave "sure, see ya then I guess." I replied waving, losing the excitement in my voice a little.
*time skip to lunch 'cause classes suck*
I busted out my class doors 'IM FREE FROM THE HELL OF MATH' I exclaimed in my head and rushed down to the cafeteria to eat shit disguised as food. I didn't care if the food was terrible, it was food, and it was a signal to leave math. As I saw Mark I waved to him, my smile widening and I plopped down in the seat next to him, my friends showing up soon behind me. After all of my friends introduced themselves me and mark introduced ourselves to each other, I enjoyed his company, he made me feel safe and made me feel a happiness I didn't feel with my other friends. We eventually exchanged phone numbers, so that we could stay in touch. And then all too quickly, the bell rang. I hugged Mark goodbye, I had already felt so close to him already and felt weird about it. As I pulled from the hug I gave him one last wave goodbye and rushed to my parent's parked car. My mother always had picked me up with a smile... But today she looked so sad, it made me shift uncomfortably "uh... Hey mom..." I said undeniably awkwardly. My mom looked back at me "honey, when we get home we need to talk about something... Serious" my mom sighed. I felt a pit of dread start inside my stomach 'important, that's always the excuse for bad news' I thought sitting back nervously, watching as gray clouds began to creep across the sky.
