Day 26: Denial

*This piece of work may not perfectly reflect grief, but I did try my best. I promise to write a sequel with better representation. Don't fight*

That night went from perfect, to absolutely awful. That one bit of news ruined that perfect day, the one both boys would remember forever. Once that news was delivered, Bakugou fell back into bed, not able to hold back his sobs. Kirishima knew it was coming, but he really didn't think of how crazy Bakugou would get. He just held the blonde close to him, letting him cry into his chest until he passed out. Kirishima waited until his fiancee fell asleep before crying silently to himself. These next few months were going to be hard, but they could do it. Together.

The next morning came, the blonde waking first. He stifled a yawn, reaching up with his free hand to free his eyes of eye boogers. Momentarily, he forgot what had happened the previous night. It took him a few minutes, then it hit him like a bus. His eyes couldn't produce tears anymore, but he let out a dry sob. That instantly woke the redhead holding him.

"Katsuki?" Kirishima muttered, looking down at the blonde in his arms. He knew what was going on, he just couldn't bring himself to say anything. It hurt him to see his precious fiance so hurt. He wished they could just go back to the previous morning when Bakugou was laughing and smiling, joy filling his whole body. Now, he was just...a dead man walking. All feelings have left him, not able to produce tears anymore. There was too much sadness, and Kirishima knew there was no way he could stop it, and that hurt.

"S-She isn't r-really de-ad...r-right E-E-Eijirou?" Bakugou didn't even attempt to make his voice sound normal. It was cracked and broken, especially after all the crying the previous day. When those broken words left Bakugou's mouth, Kirishima felt his heartbreak. After watching Bakugou struggle once, he really hoped he wouldn't have to see it again. Much to his despair, he had to. The blonde's mother was gone.

"Katsuki...she is. I...really...I'm so sorry babe." Kirishima didn't know what to say, hugging the blonde in his arms a little tighter. The smaller boy didn't even answer him, only pushing himself farther into the redhead's chest. Bakugou didn't think it was real. He was in a dream. Smacking his head lightly on Kirishima's chest, he kept telling himself to wake up. He would wake up, and his mother would be okay. Her surgery would go well, and she would still be here with him. That, though, wasn't the case.

"Katsuki...I know this is hard, and I know I probably don't understand what you're feeling right now, but....I promise that I'll help you through this. We can do this together, okay? I love you." Kirishima was trying to offer the blonde some sense of comfort, but at this point, there was nothing he could say to help Bakugou. He felt as if a piece of his heart had been stolen from him and shattered into a million pieces. Like he lost a chunk of his soul. It was something Kirishima couldn't relate to, so there was nothing he could do or say to help his fiance. They just lay there, Kirishima holding the smaller blonde to his chest.

After a few hours, Bakugou had finally calmed himself enough to look up at the redhead. When he saw Kirishima face, he tried to force himself to smile. He knew Kirishima would be with him through all of this. The redhead frowned, making the blonde force that smile a bit more.

"Katsuki...you don't have to force it...it's okay to be upset," Kirishima told him, pressing a kiss to the shorters forehead. Bakugou looked into his fiance's red eyes, then let the smile drop.

"I'm sorry...I just...fuck." Bakugou murmured, turning away from his partners gaze. Kirishima just pulled the blonde to his chest again, hugging him close.

"It's okay Katsuki...you don't have to know. I'm not going anywhere, I'll help you get through this."
