I'm Wishing
Queen Grimhilde was once the beloved queen of her kingdom, ruling side by side with her wonderful husband and lonely stepson. However, during a horrific war, the king was lost, causing Grimhilde to slowly lose her sanity and distance herself from everyone she held dear, including her increasingly attractive stepson, Snow.
Now, the king had gifted her a mirror from her late father's shop, one that was possessed by the spirit of her dead father, the one who so cruelly called her ugly when she was a child. But when he was in the mirror, he was cursed to tell her the truth always.
On this particular day, the queen was beginning her morning ritual of approaching the mirror and saying the words that would make him show himself.
"Slave in the magic mirror," she recited. "Come from the farthest space. Through wind and darkness I summon thee...speak! Let me see thy face."
On cue, the face appeared as thunder cracked and wind howled, filling the queen with joy, sorrow, and anger.
"What wouldst thou knowest, my queen?" he asked monotonously.
"Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?"
She expected to hear the same answer that she did everyday from daddy dearest: her. But what he said next threw her for a loop.
"Famed is thy beauty, Majesty. But hold, a lovely servant I see. Rags cannot hide his gentle grace. Alas, he is far more fair than thee."
She threw her cape up. "Alas for him! Reveal his name."
He spoke as if he were reading from a script. "Lips red as the rose, hair black as ebony, skin white as snow."
Her mouth fell open as she grabbed her broach. "Snow White!"

Outside, the young prince was scrubbing around the courtyard's well, yet another present for his stepmother gifted by his father. Sighing, he dumped the bucket of water out, then sat by the well, birds surrounding him.
"Want to know a secrete?" he asked innocently to them. "Promise not to tell? We are standing by a wishing well."
Snow:
Make a wish into the well
That's all you have to do
And if you hear it echoing,
Your wish will soon come true
He leaned over, still singing as it echoed back.
Snow:
I'm wishing [I'm wishing]
For the one I love
To find me [To find me]
Today [Today]
I'm hoping [I'm hoping]
And I'm dreaming of
The nice things [The nice things]
She'll say [She'll say]
Ah ah ah ah ah [Ah ah ah ah ah]
Ah ah ah ah ah [Ah ah ah ah ah]
Ah ah ah ah ah [Ah ah ah ah ah]
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah
As he was bent over, a princess had ridden up to see her beloved of whom she had been forbidden to see in so long. Grimhilde had discovered that her stepson was beautiful enough to attract a companion, her jealousy rising once again. So, she had made up lies at first that she did not want to see him and longer and, to her, that he had grown tired of her, knowing that he may have any maiden he chooses and that he could find one far prettier than she. But when that did not work and they had gone to the other to confirm for themselves, she outright forbade Snow to ever see her again. As heartbroken as he was, he both loved and feared his stepmother enough to reluctantly comply.
Now, the princess, Y/n, was climbing over the wall, so glad to see him again.
Snow:
I'm wishing [I'm wishing]
For the one I love
To find my [To find me]
Today
She was already behind him, her reflection right alongside his.
Y/n:
Today!
"Oh!" Startled, he jumped up.
"Hello. It's been awhile, hasn't it? I didn't frighten you, did I, hon?" She wanted to approach, but Snow ran back inside, frightened more of his stepmother than her.
"Wait! Wait, please. Don't run away. Please, not again." She looked up at the window where he was hiding.
Y/n:
Now that I've found you, hear what I have to say:
One song
I have but one song
One song only for you
One heart,
Tenderly beating,
Ever entering,
Constant and true
He blushed as she sang, holding his hands to his chest and fixing up his clothes away from the window before looking back out, out longingly, at her.
Y/n:
One love
That has possessed me
One love
Thrilling me through
One song
My heart keeps singing
Of one love
Only for you
He sighed dreamily as a bird landed on his finger, then flew to Y/n. She smiled down softly at it and stroked his head with her smallest finger before letting it fly off again.
She looked up as Snow ran down the steps to pull her into a hug.
"Oh, Y/n, dear, won't you ever forgive me?" He felt horrible about ducking her the last few months, although he deemed it necessary to protect her. But now all that matterd was being with her again.
"Of course I do, my love." She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
Meanwhile, from the window, the queen angrily slammed the curtains closed.
-
The queen had called for her huntsman shortly after, ready to take action.
"Take them far into the forest," she commanded. "Find some secluded glade where they can pick wildflower."
"Yes, Your Majesty." He bowed a little, respectfully.
She continued on. "And there, my faithful huntsman, you will kill them!"
"But Your Majesty!" he cried in horror. "They're only children!"
"Silence!" She rose, green eyes aflame, pointing violently at him. "You know the penalty if you fail!"
He looked at his feet. "Yes...Your Majesty..."
"But to make doubly sure you do not fail..." She took out her box, the one that she had forgotten was a third present from the king, and opened it to demonstrate. "Bring back their hearts in this."
-
The deeper the huntsman took the two, the darker it seemed to get. But, of course, they were too busy being in love to notice this. Snow was humming to himself, holding a bouquet of flowers, while Y/n picked them.
Snow was actually suited in proper attire for once: a blue dress shirt and yellow pants with a red cape while Y/n was wearing her best f/c dress, a veil, and her crown.

As Y/n bent over, she came across a small bird, singing sadly to himself. She bent over, smiling, and picked him up.
"Hello there."
"Chirp."
Snow walked over and took him, concerned. "What's the matter? Where's your mama and papa?" He looked around before realizing that no other bird could be spotted. Why, I believe your lost."
He twittered back sadly.
"Oh, please don't cry."
The huntsman looked around.
"Come on, perk up. Won't you smile for us?" Snow asked.
He chirped happily.
Snow chuckled a bit. "That's better. Your mama and papa can't be far."
Y/n pointed at a tree. "There they are!" She turned back to the small bird. "Can you fly, buddy?"
He spread his wings and took off.
"Goodbye," Snow waved. "Goodbye!"
He was snapped out of his trance with the bird when he heard a loud, shrieking scream. Turning quickly, he saw Y/n covering her face, the huntsman's dagger raised. He grabbed the princess into his arms, his eyes shut tight.
The man's hands shook. "I can't...I can't do it." The small knife fell as he dropped to his knees, grabbing onto the prince's leg. "Forgive me. I beg of Your Highnesses, forgive me."
"I don't understand," was his unangry reply.
"She's mad. Jealous of you. She'll stop at nothing."
"Who?" Y/n asked as she let go of her prince.
"The queen," he confessed.
They both looked at each other in terror. "The queen?!" they both demanded at the same time.
"Yes. Now run, children. Run, run away. Hide in the woods. Anywhere. Never come back. Now go. Go! Go! Run! Run! Hide!"
They looked at him, at each other, at the woods, then ran into the woods, where everything seemed demonic in the dark on top of their fear. An owl shrieked at them, then a bunch of bats. As they continued to run, Snow's pants got caught on a branch. He gasped, Y/n helping him out. They both fell into a pond, then scrambled up, their hair and clothes soaked, when they saw logs that looked like alligators.
Finally, Snow looked at all of the trees that looked like monsters, all of them. He tried to turn away from them, but they were surrounded, so that anywhere he looked, that was all that he was
Screaming, he collapsed into the ground, sobbing, Y/n breathing heavily next to him. But she still had enough of her mind left to reach over and pull his head onto her lap, where he buried his head and continued to cry into the fabric.
