Chapter 3

The flight went well. After getting off the plane, Betsy saw a nice girl at the airport with a sign with her name on it.

-Elizabeth?- she asked uncertainly.

-Better just Betsy.

-Oh yeah. Certainly! Hello Betsy. My name is Kelly. I will be your camp guide. We have to wait for a couple more people and soon we will go to the camp.

-Fine. How long will we wait for them? It's not difficult for me at all, I just have to drink my allergy pills if we are here for more than three hours. I am literally allergic to airports and big cities.

- I think half an hour will be enough for us. The rest of the guys should be about to land. What an interesting allergy you have. For the first time, I hear about such a thing. - Kelly was surprised.

- Believe me, I surprised quite a few medical luminaries in my life.

Smiling, Betsy remembered how they went from doctor to doctor, and they all just shrugged their shoulders. Meanwhile, she was getting worse and worse. Betsy was literally choking every day, and the pills were helping less and less. Kate was just horrified and desperate. Until they got to a very old professor who said he had only met such an illness once, and the only treatment that worked was fresh air. Without hesitation, Kate and Betsy left Toronto, away from the big city, cars and factories.

- We need to wait for another guy and a girl. They're both your age, so I think you'll quickly become friends. They're both flying from Ottawa, so they'll be on the same plane any minute. - Kelly reassured.

She was nice. She was warmly dressed, not according to the weather, with a huge woollen scarf and a thermos of tea in her hands. She was all comfort. Betsy definitely liked her.

As Kelly said, they didn't have to wait too long for other volunteers. The boy, Joe, wasn't in the mood to talk. He quickly said hello and buried himself in his headphones. All questions were answered in monosyllables, yes or no. It was absolutely unclear to Betsy what he was doing at the language camp because he was supposed to talk as much as possible. But she still hoped that this was the very first feeling, which, as a rule, was erroneous. Overall, Joe seemed like a very simple guy, just a little sleepy. Wide trousers, a plaid shirt, a backpack with millions of pockets and huge headphones.

But the second volunteer, Sonya, was completely different. It was hard to call it simple. Kelly and Betsy looked at Sonya with their mouths open. Betsy was sure that this girl had mixed up the plane and had flown to the wrong place. And she probably needed to go to the Hollywood red carpet or at least to Milan for fashion week. Long, perfectly styled hair, high heels, makeup, nails with the complexity of the design, which Van Gogh could envy. And the 8 pieces of luggage that arrived with her did not fit into the concept of a language camp. On the bright side, Sonya talked a lot.

- All in all, this experience of communicating with guys from countries which are a far cry from the whole civilized world will give me a million subscribers on my social networks. - Sonia said, pouting her lips. - Do you even have an Instagram or Twitter? Even Tik-Tok?

- No, - lied Beth. In fact, she had both Instagram and Twitter. But there, in addition to her sister and Amanda, a couple of friends and a grandmother, only Amanda's secretary was subscribed to her. And he did it either out of pity or for his own selfish purposes of rapprochement with the boss. Sonya stopped wasting time on Betsy and continued to communicate. Only not with them, but in social networks. It seemed like she just wouldn't shut up. She even showed her new friends to her followers but quickly fell behind them. Her page was clearly for Sonya's solo. Everyone else was just a background for five minutes or so. It suited everyone.

Everyone was very lucky that Kelly's car was a minivan. But even so, they had to huddle very closely inside, as the luggage filled the entire space. Joe quickly hid in his huge hood and looked like an owl. As soon as the van started, Joe fell asleep or pretended to. Sonya continued to broadcast something to her subscribers. And Betsy sat forward next to Kelly. Kelly poured her trademark tea from a thermos.

-Thanks! This is really a very tasty tea. I can even say that this is the most delicious tea in my life.- Betsy could not tear herself away from the mug. Every sip of tea literally fired up her brain. As if she did not drink tea with honey but morning coffee. Although even coffee had never been so invigorating for her.

-Truth? I'm very pleased. I gather herbs for it in the mountains. There is such wonderful air there. I love that place. I am sure you will like it too. But I'm surprised. Usually, on the contrary, everyone wants to sleep from my tea with honey.

-Yes? Maybe this is how the local air affects me. I am very excited.

It was pure truth. The views of the city quickly changed to mountains, Betsy opened the window, and even though they were driving along an asphalt road, she already felt that the air here was very clean. A couple of times, they saw deer along the way. She was surprised by their size. It's one thing to see a caribou in an animal show or a book. It is quite another to see these beautiful proud creatures live. Even from a distance, they seemed huge to her.

They did not notice how they got to Banff and the camp. They were quickly given a tour, shown the buildings, and given the keys to the rooms. Since it was late in the evening, everyone was given snacks and offered to rest until the next morning. Kelly left for another batch of students. As soon as Betsy entered the room, she immediately called her sister. They, too, had just reached the hotel in Paris and were very tired. Betsy quickly took a shower, scattered her things, and as soon as her head touched the pillow, she immediately fell into a dream.
