Chapter Two

Ju Haknyeon's eyes instantly land on the familiar black vehicle with dark tinted windows that is waiting to transport him to his next location. His schedule is such that he is booked constantly. Running from one thing to the next.

But that's the life of an Idol in K-Pop.

He has a photoshoot to do now with his group's leader.

The back door is open for him to get in. It usually is. He likes his driver too, most of the time he's super nice and respectful. He gets him from each item and location on his schedule safely.

Haknyeon smiles and walks toward the vehicle with a purpose. His mind races with thoughts along the way. He climbs in and sits down, punching the button that controls the door to open or close.

"Annyeong, Jin-hyung-nim," he greets his driver.

There's a loud, echoing click as the doors lock shut. Haknyeon knows this is normal, but he jumps in place at the noise.

The young idol for The Boyz then glances down at his cell phone, which is sitting in his lap. It chimes, making him jump again. His screen lights up at a new text message notification from Lee Sangyeon.

"Haknyeon-ssi, are you on the way yet?"

Haknyeon feels the transport van lurching forward. He taps a response back to him: "Yes, Sangyeon-hyung, on the way now. Be there in 10 minutes, Hyung."

"Did you have a good time at the recording studio?" the driver questions.

Haknyeon's blood runs ice cold then. That voice is not Jin's. It is much deeper and colder. He finds his voice and is able to stammer out, "J-J-Jin-hyung-nim? Are you feeling okay?"

Haknyeon's stomach churns with worry and it begins to twist into knots. His mind flashes to the worst possible thoughts. He'd heard about it, all the horror stories that you never think are possible. Idols being kidnapped. But with tighter security lately, he hadn't heard anything and hadn't considered it. Especially not under Cre.ker Entertainment.

"What's frightening you, young Ju Haknyeon? You don't trust me?" the driver says, glancing with dark, beady eyes into the rearview mirror.

How do I get out of this? Maybe I can make up some excuse...

Haknyeon begins to feel sick as anxiety floods through him. "I--" he begins to say, before he is cut off abruptly.

A gloved hand shoots out behind him. He can barely get out a gasp of surprise as the cold leather presses over his mouth, stifling any noise. A wet rag or cloth touches his lips and a bittersweet scent filters into his senses.

The music video for "Maverick", his group's latest comeback title track flashes into his mind. Except, he's playing Sunwoo's part and a complete stranger is playing him. Now he understands Sunwoo's terror, even if it was staged.

This is real.

His vision blurs, a series of fuzzy grays fill his sight and he feels his body going limp. The phone slides out of his hand, off his lap and clatters on the van's carpeted floor.

Where's Jin? How did they--? Why did they--? What is going on?! Haknyeon's mind races with millions of questions until it can't anymore as the drug takes its control on him.

Slowly, a pitch black settles in and then nothing.
