Chapter Five

I drop my phone. What had I just heard? Was that for real? It sounded so real. And the more I think about it, the more the voice that had shouted for help sounded just like my beloved ultimate bias or favorite.

So, who kidnapped Ju Haknyeon and why?

This is sounding more and more like one of Pattersson's thrillers and I don't like it one bit.

I can't text or call the number back as it is blocking me from doing so, sending me right to an automated, generic voicemail.

There was something in the message that spooked me. Even more than Haknyeon's kidnapping and being very clearly tied up.

It was the very creepy line, "I told you I knew your cute little secret."

Whoever kidnapped my ultimate K-Pop bias knew me. They'd also put the note in the book. They also potentially saw me, studied me, stalked my every move up until now. The person knew I'd be at the library and also select that book. They knew me well enough to know my likes.

That scared me senseless.

I rack my brain for names of people I know who might be behind this.

But no one comes to mind.

I rarely have any enemies. At least that I know about.

So who kidnapped Ju Haknyeon?

I know that I'll need some help and possibly need some protection. I can't be too cautious now. I snatch my phone back up and dial my best friend's number. And yes, my best friend just so happens to be in K-Pop as well.

"Avalynn, girlie, what's up?"

"Hey Shinwonie," I say with a sigh, glancing around the room, nervously. "You won't believe this, but I can explain everything to you when you get over here."

"Whoa, Ava, slow down. What do you mean?"

"Shinwonie, please get over here. I'm frightened. I promise, I'll explain everything when you get here."

"Okay, okay, Ava, I'll be right over," Shinwon's voice displays concern over hearing the panicked and scared tone I exhibit.

"Thank you," I tell him.

"No problem."

We both hang up.

Now it's a waiting game. But I wonder, how long does Haknyeon have?
