The Dark Rising

Soooo I'm going to stop indenting because it takes forever.....thanks for reading!

As Cassiopeia walked home with her Great Uncle, he explained that she wasn't allowed to go near anything triangular. She thought this was stupid, even though she spent most of the next week avoiding triangles.

She was so happy about staying in an actual mansion, and seeing Fiddleford, even though he was a bit...off.... she was really impressed with his lab though. The whole dining room was filled with scattered bits of electronics, all seeming to lead up to a large device in the middle of the room. It looked like a weapon, like a gun, or a bomb. It was alarming.

"What's that?" Cassiopeia blurted out.

"An explodamajigy. Nothing you need to worry about, it shouldn't go off in the house." He scratched his beard. "Now your room is upstairs to the right, and don't mind me downstairs. Goodnight."

"Goodnight Great Uncle Fiddleford."

-------------------------------------------------------
Pacifica didn't come the next day. Or the day after that. Maybe she forgot where she was supposed to pick her up?

The only other people she saw besides her family was an older man, who called himself Stanford Pines. They spent all day working on the device in the dining room, locking Cassie out. So she contented herself with walking around the garden, identifying the different types of plants.

After a couple of days, she was bored of seeing the same scenery. Even though she wanted to go outside, she wasn't sure where to go, or who to talk to, or stay away from, or how she should talk...........

Fiddleford would take her, right?!

Cassie knocked on the door, and heard a bang. She scurried back against the wall, hoping she hadn't caused anything major. The only result was the opening of the door, and Stanford's face sticking out.

"Uh, hello sir..." she wavered off.

"Hello Cassiopeia. What is it you need?

She took a deep breath. "I was wondering if Fiddleford could walk me around town."

Her Great Uncle heard this, and came to the door, and said "Cassie, ya know I gotta finish this. The explodamajig will be unstable if we don't put the nuclear reactors in at the same exact time."

"Yes, but if you go to the shack in the woods, called the Mystery Shack, my niece and nephew can show you around." returned Ford, cautiously.

"Oh. Ok. I'll go now." She said, the disappointment emanating from her.

Fiddleford smiled sadly as he watched her go.

-------------------------------------------------------
The Mystery Shack wasn't hard to find. Some doofus must have gone around the whole forest , putting up signs with arrows around them. She remembered something about the Mystery Shack, which was that the bubbly girl, Mabel, on the bus told her to go there.

At first, all Cassiopeia wanted Mabel to do was leave her alone. Now that she thought of it, it was kind of nice that she had already met two new people, and had become friends with them. She sort of liked the attention Mabel gave her. Although, now that they weren't the only two people that could sit together, Cassie wasn't sure that Mabel would like her at all. Pacifica never came. Why should she expect any different from Mabel?

Cassie sighed and resolved to turn around when she finally saw the decrepit Mystery Shack. And Mabel.

She soon learned that if you can see Mabel, she can see you.

Now she had to go. Great.
