The Story I'm Plannin'

As the softly glowing sky fell in the distance the forest fell silent in fear of the dangers left lurking in the now peaceful dark. Clouds left fighting for a spot in the dimming light. Stars shone white against the black nothingness known as the sky. The stars brought fleeting bursts of light to the land below, only just managing to break through the gaps in the heavy layer of cloud.

Down under the floating battle of the sky, the forest below slowly lost all its light as even the stars fell victim to the wrath of the clouds. Green leaves fluttering in the soft breeze, colorful flowers dancing on the soft grass. A lantern is lit, creating a soft yellow glow in the surrounding land. Such a peaceful calm, one could even hear the crackling of the small fire as it illuminated the sleeping woods.

The one who lit the small fire was nowhere near as calm as his surroundings, for he was scared. Scared of what lurked behind this peaceful façade, what dangerous beasts could pounce from their darkened shelter as soon as his guard was let down. He had every right to be on guard, he was in the dark forest for goodness sakes!

The cowering boy was known around the village as a strong and brave role model. All the young children were raised to look up to him; he was incredibly strong, he had good looks, and he was a prince in both attitude and standing. What was there not to love? It turns out there really isn't much there to that's real. The big strong man all the children in town are aiming to be like when they grow, is merely a bluff made to impress his father with high expectations that continue to rise as he grows older.

Currently, the handsome man was crouched by the base of a large tree with his giant shining sword and shield in front of him almost as if trying to hide him from the 'danger' around him. Anyone from the town who saw him would simply think that he was on guard, thinking something may attack. In actuality, he was preparing himself for a long night of jumping at the slightest sound.

The boy was a prince back in the village, they called him 'The Prince of both name and status' as he was constantly attempting to flirt with the local ladies and, more often than not, succeeded. His outfit and style always perfect, rivaling only the best designers, from the clothes he wore daily, to his formal wear it would always be just right. His hair styled to highlight the natural beauty on his face but somehow looking like he isn't too hard to look good. As he portrayed his image as such, he grew the trust of the whole village, thus earning him the lucky post guarding the village from the forest. Luckily for him, he had to do this once a week but it still too much for him.

Usually, he would be acting out some kind of play at this time, his glorious hair would glow in the dimmed light of his room. Now he was lying on the ground cowering behind his shield with his once beautiful hair in complete disarray with mud and twigs spiking through it in all kinds of directions, but he didn't care, he simply wanted to make it out of there alive.

The Prince had been sent there because of the recent struggles they've been going through, the surrounding villages have been threatening to invade their happy little town if they couldn't get crops to grow soon. However, the problem wasn't that the crops wouldn't grow, it was that they were being stolen whenever the farmers had managed to get anything significant to form.

~ I know that I keep repeating myself but I haven't actually tried to write a long story before so I am sort of winging it.
