Getting Answers From A "Spy"
They all sat in the library. Dean and Sam sat across from Cas and... Abigail, or whoever she was.
"Where is Felicity?" Cas asked. "Do you know?"
"She's up here," She pointed at her head. "Right in here, tucked away where Zozo was."
"Do you know how Zozo died?" Sam asked.
"I killed her. I harnessed the powers that Felicity now has, since she's a fledgling, and used it to kill Zozo."
"How did you do that?" Cas asked. "That sort of ability would take years of practice. You would've only had a day."
"Only a day? Has it only been a day?"
"How long has it felt like?" Dean asked.
"What year is it?"
"2014," Sam answered. "It's November, almost Thanksgiving."
"Huh. I thought it was at least 2134. Around Christmas."
They all gaped. 2134?
"One hundred and thirty year difference," Cas marveled. "It's remarkable."
"So you've had that long to practice... whatever it is you did exactly?" Dean asked.
"Precisely."
"Abigail," Cas began. "Wherever Felicity is up there, is she safe?"
Abigail smiled faintly. "Yes. She's fine. Don't worry."
Cas sighed with relief. His Felicity was safe. That's all he wanted.
"So, who are you?" Sam asked. "How exactly do you fit into this picture?"
"Why me, you mean? I don't know. She needed our energy in particular, but I'm not sure why."
"Who were you before you died?"
"Abigail... Peterson? No... Peters. I... I find it hard to remember much of anything anymore."
"Well what do you remember?"
"I... I had a husband. Mark? Matt? I can't even remember that. I do know I was expecting a child. I was barely two months pregnant. He didn't even know. I was gonna tell him when...."
"I'm sorry. You said you were shot?"
"Yes. Now that, I remember. His name was Rick Mathews. We were business partners. He was never reliable. When I discovered this scheme of his, this company backstab, working-for-the-enemy sort of thing, I confronted him. Things got heated, and I got shot with a .45 Caliber."
"And then somehow you ended up inside Felicity's head," Dean added. "What the hell?"
"You read my mind."
"Where is Felicity?" Cas asked. "Inside her mind, where is she?"
"In the deepest, darkest part. It's buried so deep, it's impossible to access unless you're unconscious."
"That explains why it was nightmares," Sam thought aloud. "It had to be nightmares, because she couldn't get into it while she was awake."
"Yes. I can try to find her, but it will take time."
"Please," Cas begged. "You have to find her. I want to see her again. The real her."
She nodded. "It shall be done. I can't guarantee a quick retrieval, but I will find her."
"Do you require anything?"
She shook her head. "Just rest. I can't find her in a waking state, so I will need sleep."
"Let me show you to your room."
Cas lead her to Felicity's bedroom and she laid down on the bed. Before he left, he needed to tell her something.
"Abigail, when you find Felicity, can you tell her something for me?"
"Of course."
"Tell her..." He wanted to tell her he loved her, that he would always love her. But the thought of letting those words leave his lips frightened him. He'd never told that to anyone before. He never thought he would. It didn't just frighten him. It terrified him. "Tell her I miss her. Tell her that the first thing I do when she comes back is hold her in my arms and never let her go."
She smiled. "You want me to tell her you love her, don't you?"
He sighed lightly. "Yes. But... the thought of admitting that worries me. I've never said such a thing in my life. And... the thought of someone else saying it for me, it just... doesn't seem right."
"I understand. Just know that she loves you, too. I know, I've been in her mind for what felt like centuries. She loves you, Cas."
The sound of the shortened version of his name coming from Felicity seemed strange. It wasn't really her, but it was her voice saying it.
"Just find her as soon as possible."
"Of course."
"And what will happen to you? Will you stay up there?"
She sighed ever so slightly. "Just know that the one you love will be safe. You have my word."
