"I never imagined myself telling you girls about this," mom said.

Rey and I exchanged looks, as she entwined her fingers.

"A long time back, when I found out I was pregnant with you two, I was so depressed and stressed and worried. I nearly aborted you two but…" she sighed and looked at us. "Remember the doctor that treated you Raven?"

I nodded in confusion.

"He was there, all the way of my pregnancy. He stopped me from doing things that I'd surely regret later. Even though he wasn't the father, he was there. He also helped me financially. After you two were born, he still was there. He cared for you both and treated you both like you were his own daughters. For three years, he was there then… Something happened one night and that resulted in me carrying another child again."

Rey started coughing hard, it seemed like the saliva she had swallowed went to the windpipe. I got up and ran to kitchen, filled a glass with water and came back to the lounge.  I gave the glass to her as I started,

"So we have a half sibling?"

"You have a half brother."

I remembered to the night where I was thinking that maybe I had a sibling I never knew about and here mom was, telling me what I had suspected.

"Where is he?" Rey asked as she put the glass on the table.

"He's with his father. I let him claim him after birth," mom said unsure.

"When are we going to meet him?" I asked

Mom paused and sighed, "They are coming tomorrow."

"Why are you only telling us this now?" We both asked.

"Because his father and I are back together."

Rey and I both gasped and our bottom mouths fell to the ground.

"I know it's a huge thing and I'm so sorry for telling you girls now. I should have done it earlier but I couldn't."

"It's okay mom, we understand," I said looking at Rey who was glaring with fuming eyes at mom.

I nudged her shoulder and she glared at me then stood up.

For a short while there was an awkward silence then I started, "I can't wait to see my brother, maybe we might have a lot in common."

(Next day)

I had a really hard time choosing what to wear but I soon found something.  A cute summer dress and some sandals.  I looked at the mirror and was satisfied with myself.

I went down the stairs and into the kitchen.  Mom was there sipping black coffee. She was wearing a waist skirt and a matching blouse with heels.

"Going somewhere?" I asked as I opened the fridge and took out an apple.

"Will is taking me out for the whole day," she grinned, looking up at me with shimmering eyes.

Will is the doctor and the father of my half brother.

"Ooh, that's nice," I smiled taking a bite on my apple.  "I thought you were going to be with us."

"Oh no. He already knows me. And by the way, Rey won't be with you."

"Why?"

"Well she said she had dance class so it's just going to be the two of you."

I scoffed.  Using the excuse of dance class to run away.  How nice.

"I'm sorry but… oh they're here," she said as the door bell rang. She left the kitchen and I took my last bite, then straightened my dress.  How awkward this was going to be.

"Will," mom said as she opened the door and hugged him.

"Im glad to see you again."

"You too," Dr Will said kissing both her cheeks.

Mom made way for him to enter and he got in and headed straight towards me. I gulped. Somewhere inside of me was a feeling of disgust, pain and anger. I was calm the day before but now… I feared that all that was bottled up inside of me would explode.

"Raven," he said as he opened his arms for a hug.

I barely knew him.  Though he was there ever since I was born.  He was like a father I never knew and here he was expecting me to embrace him. He wasn't my actual dad but yet still he expects a hug.

I faked a smile and hugged him.

"It's nice to see you again Doctor Will,"  I said.

"Oh please, Will would do just fine."

Now came the time I was never prepared for. The time where I was to meet my younger sibling.  My brother.

"Raven," mom said, "This is Brandon, Brandon this is Raven."

I smiled at him as he entered.  He was a handsome young man. Totally handsome.  His brown wavy hair was combed back and he was wearing a white T-shirt and ripped jeans.

He looked at me and faked a smile then went back to his phone.

"Well then, We will give you two a day to get to know each other," mom said.

"See you two in the evening," Will said as he and mom went out.

I stared at the door then at Brandon who was texting whoever on his phone.

"Uhm. I guess you know me already," I started.

"Is it true that you put a girl's life in danger for attention?" he asked looking up at me.

"What no. Its not. Those are all lies."

"Don't worry, I believe you," he said going back to his phone.

"In order for us to get to know each other you need to put that phone aside Brandy."

He stopped typing and glared at me.  I grinned.  "Brandy,"I said again.

"Dare call me that again," he said.

"Are you hungry?" I asked before he could continue.

"No,"

"Well then. Let's go to my room."

I went up the stairs and he soon followed behind.

"So this is my room," I said as he reached the door.

"I thought it would be more girlish than this," he said looking at me.

I laughed.  "I'm not that type. I'm a modern girl."

"I can see," he said walking up to my guitar.

"Let me guess. You know how to play," I said folding my arms.

"Yeah. A bit. I'm more of a drummer."

I smiled.  "That's great."

"What instruments do you play?" he asked.

"All," I said sitting on my bed as he gave me my guitar.

"Seriously?" he asked.

"Yes. Seriously."

For the first time that day he actually smiled at me. A real smile. My little brother was so cute.

"So you're fifteen?" I asked as I tuned the guitar.

"Yep."

"And I'm turning eighteen," I sighed.

"When?"

"The first of August."

"That's like two months away."

"I guess so."

"What song should I play where you can duet?"

"Is there a guitar version of Lovely?"

"I'll try," I said strumming a tune.

Soon enough I got the hang of it and it came out perfectly. Brandy really had a good voice.  A fantastic one. I had a feeling he got it from me. Some how.

After a while we went down to the kitchen to get a snack and we spent half of the day getting to know each other. Seems like he was a fan of gospel rap songs and he introduced them to me.  People like Lecrae and TobyMac.

Afterwards.  We watched a movie on Netflix in my room while he clicked pictures of himself looking at the camera and I focused on the movie.

"Memories," he grinned.

I smiled at him before going back to the movie.

"Raven," a soft voice cooed.

"Mhm?" I said trying to open my eyes but the ceiling lights blinded me. I hissed as I rolled over to my back and ended up on the floor.

I groaned as I saw mom giggling at me.

"Not funny," I said.

"Brandon?" she cooed at the sleeping boy.

Oh my gosh.  We had fallen asleep watching the movie and now it was dusk.  The last thing I remember was staring at my open window, my head rested on my hand that rested on Brandy's shoulder.

"It's time to go home," mom said as Brandon rubbed his eyes.

"Nooo mom can't he have a sleep over?"

"Yeah?" Brandon said.

We both gave her puppy eyes but she resisted.

"You can meet tomorrow," she said as she helped me get up.

We went down the stairs to find Will seated on the couch and Rey getting in.

"Why Renee, You only coming back at this time?"mom asked.

"I went out with my friends."

Mom glared at her and sighed.

"This is your half brother," she said.

Rey looked over to Brandon who was now back on his phone.

I tugged at his shirt and he looked at me like he didn't know what was going on then to Rey.

"Oh hie," he said blankly and got back to his phone.

"Hie," Rey smiled.

"Well we better go," Will said and everyone got out and he and Brandon headed for their car.

"You got my number right?" I yelled at Brandon.

"Yeah," he yelled back.  "I'll text you."

He was such an angel.

They got into the car and Brandon nodded at me.  And I smiled back and lip synced a bye as they hit the road.

"Did you have a great day?" mom asked me as she gave me a hug.

"Yeah."

"And I missed it," Rey said as she stood at the door.

Mom and I both laughed and got into the house.

The stars illuminated, filling the world with light.  The moon laughed down upon the earth as the street lights were switched on.  And nobody was to be seen walking around.
