Chapter 9 (Rough Start)

"Are you sure you don't want a slice of pizza?" Toy Chica wondered.

"I don't have the time," you mused as you continued to work out a plan on a few sheets of paper; the five animatronics, as well as Foxy beside Balloon Boy, were sitting with you at one of the tables in the dining area.

"Sugar, the pizzeria opens in six hours, you have plenty of time," Mangle pointed out.

"I know," you sighed, setting down your pencil, and looking up at the animatronics. "I'm just so pumped to give you guys the kind of attention you deserve!"

"We're happy that you're helping us," Toy Freddy mentioned, and you smiled at him.

"Alright, I know you guys may not like this, but we're gonna keep everyone on stage; Toy Freddy, Toy Chica, and Toy Bonnie, that is," you said, and you got a look of annoyance from Toy Bonnie, as well as looks of concern from Toy Freddy and Toy Chica. "Yeah, I said that you guys probably wouldn't like it, but I think it would be best for the kids to come to you. There will be hourly performances, like normal, and while you guys get ready for the next hour, I can clean you up, or work with you if I need to. Does that sound okay?"

"I don't like it," Toy Bonnie huffed, crossing his arms.

"Ahoy, I-I know th' o-le crew 'n I are-aren't really a-a part o' this-is, but do ye plan-plan on doin' some-thin' wit' us?" Foxy asked.

"Actually, Henry, the manager, planned on opening a new place with you guys. So, you all will be put back together before then. Oh, Halloween is just around the corner, and I've got a great idea for you guys. For everyone, in fact," you replied.

"Wha' a-bout Balloon Boy, here?" Foxy wondered as he put his hand on his shoulder.

"Hello," Balloon Boy said.

"Well, Balloon Boy doesn't really pose as much of a threat, sorry. Really, Marionette doesn't either. So, the two of you can continue to do what you guys usually do," you mentioned, and Balloon Boy stared at you blankly; you smiled nervously, and the sound of his usual chuckle made you relax.

"What about me?" Mangle asked.

"Okay, so, Mangle . . . Um, I think it would be best if we were to keep someone in your room. Not because of a 'posibble accident,' but to keep the toddlers from destroying you again," you suggested.

"Again?" Mangle questioned.

"Oh, I'm getting ahead of myself: I plan to put you back together, and keep you that way," you explained, and Mangles eyes widened. "And maybe we you can give you an attraction that isn't just to entertain a bunch of toddlers. I think you should be given as much consideration as the rest."

Mangle walked over beside you, and you watched her questioningly. She carefully wrapped her arms around you and hugged you gently. You hesitantly put your arms around her, and she whispered, "Thank you."

"Oh, it's no problem, really," you chuckled, and she pulled away.

She crawled under the table and sat back in her seat, and you grinned at her. Toy Bonnie put his arm around you, and you looked over at him. His ears twitched as he looked at you sincerely. You smiled at him warmly, and picked up your pencil to continue on your plan.

"What should we do if someone brings up the incident?" Scott wondered.

"Tell them that you aren't supposed to talk about it. If they keep asking about it, tell them that they can talk with 'the manager,' " you replied, and he nodded as he hopped off the stage, going to tell the rest of the employees.

You looked around the pizzeria, there were a few adults with their children, but that was about it; even the teenagers that were there yesterday, decided that the place was too boring. You sighed, and Toy Bonnie looked over at you.

"Don't worry, boo. The place only opened about an hour ago," Toy Bonnie assured you quietly, and you smiled, looking back at him.

"Thanks, Bonbon," you murmured.

"Um, we'll be starting a show here in a few minutes," Toy Freddy mentioned, hinting for you to get off the stage.

"Yeah, I'll go and check on Mangle," you said, getting his point.

You carefully hopped off the Show Stage, and walked towards Kids' Cove. You waved to Balloon Boy as you passed him, and he looked over at you. You knew that if it weren't for the fact that the employees and customers could hear him, he would have greeted you, or chuckled. You walked past Marionette's box and through the doorway, to see Mangle looking down at the floor in discouragement.

"Hey, Mangle," you said.

"Oh, hello, (Y/N)," she sighed.

"You sound disappointed, what's wrong?" you worried.

"Nobody's come to visit me," she mentioned.

"I'm here, aren't I?" you chuckled, and kneeled down beside her. "It's okay, Mangle. I'll have one of the other employees put you back together tonight, and tomorrow, you'll be good as new."

"They're afraid of me," she mumbled, and you looked over.

". . . I'm not afraid of you. I know it wasn't your fault; and I'll make sure to let people know that it wasn't," you assured her; she looked up at you, and you smiled at her.

You locked the front doors, after telling Scott goodbye. There had been more people coming in throughout the day, but there wasn't near as many as there usually was. You sighed as you put the keys in your pocket, and walked towards the Show Stage. The animatronics had already gotten off of the Show Stage, Mangle was scaling the ceiling, and Balloon Boy walked past the tables, probably heading to the Parts/Service Room to get Foxy.

"(Y/N)?" Mangle said as she stopped above you.

"Yeah?" you wondered, looking up at her.

"I've been thinking, about you putting me back together," Mangle started as she lowered in front of you.

"Oh, don't worry, I've already had Scott talk to one of the employees. They said that they couldn't do it tonight, but that he would be here tomorrow night," you assured her.

"I don't think I want to be fixed," Mangle blurted, and you raised an eyebrow.

"Huh?" you questioned.

"I, as well as the rest, have already gotten used to this 'body.' I'd think it would be odd if I were to look different than I do now. I mean, I wouldn't be 'Mangle' anymore," she explained.

"Are you trying to say, that this is who you are now?" you enquired.

"Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying," Mangle clarified.

"Well, okay then. As long as you want to stay this way, I'll come up with an excuse for Scott to tell the guy," you mused.

"Why not tell him yourself?" Toy Chica wondered.

"What, talk to a complete stranger? I-I don't think so," you chuckled nervously, and Toy Bonnie's ears twitched.

"Aw, are you shy?" Toy Chica cooed, and you blushed some.

"No, I'm not shy. I'm just introverted," you explained, rubbing the back of your neck sheepishly.

"You're cute, that's what you are," Toy Bonnie gushed as he walked up to you and pulled you into a hug; he released you to see your face, and when he saw that your blush had gotten brighter, he snorted.

"Are you guys a couple?" Toy Chica wondered, a bit of hope in her voice.

"What? No!" you blurted.

"Why not?" Toy Bonnie wondered, and you were about to say something, when you huffed at him, giving him an annoyed look.

"I can't date an animatronic. That'd just be wrong," you shuddered.

"But we're not normal animatronics," Mangle pointed out.

"Yeah, you guys are possessed, by children. Besides, an animatronic wouldn't be able suit my needs," you replied.

"We've got pizza here," Toy Chica commented.

"And a place to sleep," Toy Freddy added.

"You guys, I don't think she's talking about those kinds of needs," Toy Bonnie snickered.

"Thank you, Bo-"

"Wait, but we can always hug each other. That's what we did last night, right?" he asked, suddenly feeling confused.

"Yeah, but that's not what I meant," you said.

"What other needs are there?" he wondered, one of his ears tilted over questioningly.

"Well- Uhm . . . Nothing," you gulped.

"Oh. Okay then," he said, not for sure if there was really nothing more.

". . . Hey, I found this thing in one of the present boxes," Mangle brought up as she took something out from behind her. "I heard that it's called a 'paddle ball.' And, watch this."

Mangle thrusted the rubber ball away from her and when it came back, she smacked it with the wooden paddle. She continued to repeat the process, looking over at the rest of the animatronics in amusement, who were all in awe.

"Woah," Toy Chica gasped.

"Lemme try!" Toy Bonnie exclaimed excitedly.

"Here," Mangle said as she handed it over to him.

Toy Bonnie held it up, balancing the ball on the paddle, before pushing it into the air. When it came back down, he missed it, and he "humphed." He tried it again, still missing, he whined and looked up at you bashfully. He looked over at Mangle questioningly, and she gestured for him to push it away from him. He nodded and did so, succesfully bouncing it off the paddle once. He gasped and looked up at you for your approval, and you giggled at how cute he was.

"Lookie!" he crowed as he continued to bounce it.

"O-okay, can I have it back?" Mangle uttered nicely.

"Just a sec," Toy Bonnie muttered, starting to get cocky, as he flipped the paddle upside down, looking over at you smugly.

You smiled and rolled your eyes, and his ears twitched. He kept his gaze on you, and ended up missing, causing himself to completely mess up. You chuckled, and he blushed as his ears fell to his sides. He handed it back over to Mangle, and she started to play with it.

"I believe there's another one somewhere. Ask Marionette," Mangle muttered, keeping her attention on the paddle ball.

"I'll go see," you commented.

You walked towards Marionette's box as the animatronics sat at one of the tables. Balloon Boy walked in the dining area, with Foxy behind him. When you got to Marionette's box, you could hear his music box playing from the inside. You tapped on the lid, and it opened a bit, letting Marionette peek out.

"Hey, Marionette," you said.

"Hello, (Y/N). Do you need something?" he wondered.

"I was wondering if there was another paddle ball," you replied.

"There is one under the prize counter," he told you.

"Okay, thank you," you said, and he closed his box.

You walked around the counter, sliding the back open and looking through the toys. You picked up a blue paddle ball, and closed it back. You walked back to the animatronics, and Toy Bonnie looked up at you as you approached him. You held out the toy, and his ears perked up. He grabbed it from you and started to play with it.
You smiled as he watched Mangle, trying to imitate what she was doing. Toy Chica and Toy Freddy were talking at the table, while Balloon Boy and Foxy talked to each other at the Game Area. You yawned, and watched Toy Bonnie. His ears twitched, and he looked over at you, stopping with his paddle ball.

"Are you tired?" he worried.

"Yeah, a little bit," you mumbled.

"Why don't you go on to sleep, then," he suggested.

"I guess I can do that. Night, everyone," you said.

"Oh, goodnight, darling," Mangle replied.

"Sweet dreams, (Y/N)," Toy Chica exclaimed.

"Sleep well," Toy Freddy added.

You walked towards the Show Stage, and you heard the rest continue what they were doing. Toy Bonnie lifted you up, cradling you, and your eyes widened in surprise. You looked over at him, and he carried you to the stage, stepping up onto it.

"What are you doing?" you wondered.

He stayed quiet, and walked up to the hatch, lifting it with his foot and kicking it open. He made his way down the steps and through the kitchen. You huffed as he walked through the swinging doors, and into the employee's lounge. He walked up to the sofa and carefully laid you down.

"I could've gotten here myself, you know," you grumbled.

"Shh," he hushed you as he kneeled down.

He dragged your suitcase out from under the couch and unzipped it; you assumed him or another one of the animatronics had moved it a few days ago. You propped yourself up with your elbows, wondering what he was doing. He quickly pulled out the pillows and blanket, before shutting it and zipping it back up, not wanting to be nosey.

"Bonbon?"

He pushed the suitcase back under the couch, and stood up. He set the pillows under you, and you raised an eyebrow at him as he gently pushed you back. You shifted, setting your head comfortably on the pillows. He unrolled the blanket and tossed it over you. You grabbed it and fixed it the usual way you did. Toy Bonnie leaned down to you and gave you a "peck" on the forehead.

"Goodnight, boo," he whispered, and you smiled as you closed your eyes.

You looked around the pizzeria, the business had been doing wonderfully that day. The animatronics had hopped off stage to dance with customers to the music that played on the speakers. You looked over at Balloon Boy, who was handing balloons to children. He handed one a large handful, and the child was lifted up some. Balloon Boy laughed with the children, and you smiled.

"Hey, (Y/N), where do you want me to put these spare parts?" Foxy asked as he walked up beside you.

"Put them in the Parts/Service room. Duh," you sneered, and he nodded, walking back towards the Main Hall.

You sighed and rolled your eyes. There wasn't much you could do, so you decided to walk through the Main Hall, and into the office. You sat in the chair and set your feet on the desk, folding your arms over your chest.

"Miss?" a girl's voice said behind you, and you turned around, to see a large group of children; their clothes were tore in places, and they had blood on them.

"You all look familiar," you brought up, completely disregarding their appearances.

"You spoke to us in your last dream," she replied.

"Dream," you wondered, and your body started to feel numb as everything slowly faded.

"Try to stay asleep," a boy said; you looked down at your hands, they looked sort of fuzzy.

"Good," the girl said and you looked up at her. "Just don't close your eyes."

"Am I asleep?" you wondered, looking down at your hands again.

"Yes," she said, and you looked around, everything seemed much more colorful than before.

"That explains a lot," you said, recalling the animatronics dancing, the kid floating with the balloons, and Foxy coming out in the middle of the "day" with no problem with his speech.

"Just try to stay asleep," the boy said.

"I'll try," you said, quickly glancing down at your hands, before looking back up at them. "Who are you guys?"

"We are the spirits trapped in the animatronic's bodies," another boy said.

". . . Why do you keep contacting me? And through my dreams, that is?" you wondered.

"You are the only one that can help us," the first girl said.

"And through your dreams is the only way we can physicaly talk to you," another girl said.

"You all seem intelligent for a bunch of kids," you pointed out.

"Some of us have been in the animatronics for years, so we've been able to learn from what we've heard and seen," the girl said.

"Why haven't you guys left yet?" you wondered.

"We can't. We haven't been put to rest, so we can not move on," she told you, and the rest of the children looked at each other, then to you; your body started to feel weird, and you looked down at your hands, getting rid of the feeling.

"What's holding you back?" you asked, scratching the top of your head.

"William Afton," she said dully.

"Who's that?"

"He murdered us," one of the boys added bluntly; one of the children's eyes started to go dark, and a few others tried to calm him down.

"How would I be able to help you?" you questioned, still unsure why they would contact you.

"You are the only one that knows about us. You can seperate us from the animatronics," the girl said, and your body started to tingle again.

"How am I supposed to do that?" you wondered, looking down at your hands, but this time the feeling didn't go away.

"I don't know," she mumbled.

"Uhm, I think I'm waking up," you uttered as things started to get blurry.

"Someone is trying to wake you up," she replied.

"Quick question, before I wake up: can you guys see and feel things through the animatronic's bodies?" you wondered, trying to keep yourself from leaving them.

"We can see and hear things, but we can't feel anything," she explained, and you furrowed your eyebrows. "But do not worry, the animatronics have gained their own consciousnesses. So, you don't need to feel weird if you were to happen to form a 'relationship' with one of them."

". . . Wait, what's that supposed to mean?" you grunted as everything started to fade away, and the children snickered to each other.

"(Y/N), wake up," you heard Toy Bonnie sing quietly, and you peeled your eyes open.

"What?" you mumbled, looking up at him groggily.

"Good morning, boo-tiful," he snorted, and you smiled. "It's almost time to open the pizzeria," he said softly, and you wiped your eyes as you sat up.

"I just had the craziest dream. Wait-" you mused, and quickly punched Toy Bonnie's chest, jerking your hand back as pain surged through it.

"What was that for?" he wondered.

"Just checking something," you winced, gripping onto your hand.
