Chapter 7 (Truth, Trust, and Tears)

"Do you trust me?" Toy Bonnie asked.

"Yes," you told him.

"Huh," he mused.

"What, I'm telling the truth!" you blurted.

"I know, you are telling the truth," he replied.

"Oh," you muttered bashfully.

"Are you afraid of me?"

"No."

"Hm. Let me rephrase that: are you afraid of what I am capable of doing?" he uttered clearly.

"Well, no. Not really," you said.

"You're lying, (Y/N)," Toy Bonnie grumbled.

"What, I-I'm . . ." You sighed.

"If you don't tell me what's wrong, I can't help you," he mumbled, holding your eye contact.

". . . Wh-what if your spirit, or the others', snaps, and ends up hurting me or someone else? What if they don't stop?" you croaked, and Toy Bonnie loosened his grip on your hand.

"It'll be alright, beautiful. We'll make sure it won't happen," he assured you, and you blushed at the name he called you.

"Is that the nickname you're giving me?" you chuckled.

"Not for sure. I want to give you a nickname that you'll love, one with meaning," he mused as he let go of your hand, stroking his nonexistent beard; you chuckled at his obscurity, and his ears twitched.

"Bonbon?" you said.

"Yes?"

"I have a question for you."

"Hit me," he boasted.

"Do you trust me?" you asked, looking into his eyes for the truth.

"Wha- Of course. Why wouldn't I?" he babbled as his ears fell to the side; his pupils narrowed as he watched for your expression, your poker face made him nervous.

"Bonnie," you cooed, and his eyes expanded as he blushed lightly at your soft voice.

"What?" he chuckled nervously.

You gripped his hand, holding it gently. He looked at his hand, and then back up at you. You smiled softly at him as you tilted your head some. His blush got brighter, and he avoided your eyes. You grabbed his other hand and wrapped your fingers between his. He quickly looked up at you, and you looked at him innocently. Toy Bonnie looked between your eyes, unintentionally zooming in to see your face better. He whined and closed his eyes, and you couldn't help but giggle.

"I'm sorry!" he blurted, and your eyes widened. "I don't know why I don't trust you! I-I want to trust you. I just don't know how to."

"I want to trust you too, Bonbon," you admitted, and he opened his eyes to look at you.

"H-how can we earn each other's trust?" he wondered.

"Well, we could do 'trust exercises,' but that sounds kinda la-"

"Yeah! Wha-what are trust exercises?"

"Oh. Um, they're like these things you do to learn to trust someone else," you explained.

"What are some?" he asked.

"The only one I know is the 'trust fall.' But I don't think I could catch you if you were to fall over," you muttered.

"Why not look something up on your phone?"

"I guess I can do that," you muttered as you took your phone out of your pocket; you unlocked it and opened up safari, typing in some words, before it gave you suggestions.

"Click on that one," Toy Bonnie said as he pointed at the screen, getting off the table and crouching beside you.

" 'Trust exercises for couples'? But we're not a couple," you told him.

"We're best friends, right?" he asked, and you nodded, wondering where he was getting to. "Aren't best friends just like couples, and vice versa?"

"Pfft. Yeah, I guess. But don't complain if there are these really 'mushy' things," you scoffed.

He snickered and you tapped on your screen, pulling up a list of websites. You pressed on the first site, not bothering to read the short description. Up came a picture of a man and woman embracing, and you squinted. You quickly scrolled down, looking for a bold headline. When you got to one, you stopped and read it.

" '30 minutes of compassion'? Ew," you cringed.

"Oh, come on, read what it says before you judge it," Toy Bonnie commented, and you looked over at him, to see him looking dreamily at the screen in thought.

"Fine. 'I feel that people should bond first, and converse second.' Blah, blah, blah. Um, 'So before you get into the more difficult exercises-' whatever. Uh, oh. 'For this exercise, you begin in however way you feel, you engage with each other in however way you feel, and you complete the exercise in however way you feel. Do whatever makes you both feel the most comfortable and cared for,' " you read, and scoffed, grumbling, "This sounds lame."

"Just keep reading," Toy Bonnie mused.

" 'You can embrace each other in your arms, or you can take turns being the "big spoon" partner who envelopes the other. Or maybe you don't physically immerse with each other at all, but you maintain eye contact for a few minutes.' Eh, 'Be sweet, soft, and loving with each other. Bond first, converse second. This will set the stage for the depth of the following exercises.' I don't think I want to do the other exercises, nor this one," you groaned.

"What? I think it'll be fun. Why don't we try it?" he suggested.

"I'm not spooning with you," you told him, and his ears twitched.

"I'm not saying we do that. It said that we could hold each other in our arms, or we don't have to do anything physical at all," he said, hoping that you'd be convinced.

"Ugh, what do you want to do?" you griped.

"Uhm, okay, so . . ." he started, before looking at you gently. "You seemed kind of, nervous, or hesitant, to hug me for very long? Why's that?"

"Um . . . I know this may sound really cheesy, but I haven't actually hugged someone with meaning, in a long time," you confessed, rubbing the back of your neck sheepishly.

"What do you mean, 'with meaning'?" Toy Bonnie asked.

"Usually I only hug people to be polite, just a side hug, and a pat on the back, as well with my family. But, when I wrapped both my arms around you and hugged you tightly . . . I don't know, I've never hugged someone like that," you mused, and dropped your hands in your lap.

"Then why'd you pull away so quickly?" he asked.

"Well, I kind of surprised myself, embracing you like that. And, I didn't want to seem awkward. You know, hugging for too long, or something," you muttered.

"You don't need to feel awkward around me, especially with hugs. If I could, I'd hold you in an embrace for forever," he babbled, but when he realized what he had said, he blushed brightly, and you giggled, causing his ears to drop to his sides. "U-um, forget that last part. Just know, that I won't feel uncomfortable, and I'll make sure you won't feel awkward. Okay?"

"Okay," you whispered.

"Do you want to put on a timer for 30 minutes? Or do you just want to go for however long?" Toy Bonnie wondered.

"We can go for however long we feel. Uh, should we stand up, or sit down together?" you asked nervously.

"I don't know," he said as he stood up, you scooted the chair back to give him room.

He looked around, his ears twitched in thought. He walked up to you, and you attempted to scoot back for him, but he quickly grabbed the chair arms, startling you somewhat. He gently grabbed your hand and led you up. You stood up, and he immediately wrapped his arms around you, and pulled you into his chest. You froze with your eyes wide, not expecting him to be so assertive. He embraced you softly, and you slowly wrapped your arms around his torso. You hugged him tightly, and he gently squeezed you, making you feel welcomed.

He chuckled and you smiled, closing your eyes and resting your head on his bow tie. You sighed, relaxing completely into his arms. He blushed lightly, closing his eyes as well, and carefully rubbing his chin on the top of your head. He hummed, which started to sound more like purring the more you listened. You giggled, and he started to slowly sway your hips with his, side to side.

You wanted to say something to acknowledge your contentment, but you decided to not ruin the moment. The two of you slowly swayed in momentum, feeling like you were on a boat in the middle of the sea. Toy Bonnie opened his eyes and moved his head off yours. He moved his hands up, and started to play with your hair; goosebumps formed on your arms. You hummed to show your satisfaction, and Toy Bonnie chuckled. A tap on the head and a "mwah" sound, made you raise an eyebrow. You opened your eyes and leaned back some, looking up at Toy Bonnie curiously; he tilted his ears.

"What was that?" you asked, and Toy Bonnie stopped swaying.

"What?"

"The 'mwah' sound, and the tap on my head."

"Oh," he mumbed, blushing lightly as his ears twitched. "I was just giving you a kiss on the head."

"Oh," you replied, smiling and blushing some as you laid your head back down on him.

Toy Bonnie slowly continued to rock you side to side. You closed your eyes, getting back to the peaceful state you were at before. Toy Bonnie sighed as he layed his head on yours, careful not to make you uncomfortable with his weight. You smiled, and started to doze off. Your legs gave out, but Toy Bonnie's grip on you kept you from falling. He jolted up, looking at you worryingly as you smiled at him sheepishly.

"Sorry. I started to fall asleep," you said bashfully.

"Oh, why don't we do something else then?" he commented.

"But, I want to keep hugging you," you mumbled as you stuck your lip out.

"We can sit down, and you can go to sleep in my lap," he chuckled, and you nodded, blushing somewhat.

He pulled you back to his chest, squeezing you tightly, before letting you go and stepping away. You smiled at him, and he looked around the room. He walked along the right wall of the room. He moved to the corner and lowered, putting his hands behind him as he stretched his feet out. He scooted back, leaning into the corner; he shifted some, getting comfortable. He looked up at you, and you tilted your head.

"Come here," he gushed as he patted his lap.

A timid smile stretched across your face as you walked towards him. He followed you with his eyes, watching you tower over him. He put his hands out, looking like he was cradling an invisible baby. You nodded, getting what he was gesturing to. You crouched down, and twisting some, you carefully sat across his lap. He put his arms under your knees and around your back, lifting you up and pulling you close to him.

You adjusted your position, tucking your knees against Toy Bonnie's side, before leaning into his chest. He wrapped his arms around your shoulders, gently rubbing the side of your arm. You unintentionally sighed, and closed your eyes. He reached his hand up and pushed a strand of your hair out of your face. You smiled, and scrunched your shoulders, rubbing the side of your head against his chest. He chuckled, seeing that you were being shy. Your smile slowly faded, and your body relaxed, as you calmed down. Your breathing steadied, and Toy Bonnie sighed, feeling that you had fallen asleep in his arms.

"Aww, you two are adorable!" you heard someone distant, exclaim.

"Shh! You'll wake her," you heard Toy Bonnie whisper, and the voices started to become clearer as you gained consciousness.

"We need to be getting back to the Show Stage," Toy Freddy spoke.

"I know. What am I supposed to do?" Toy Bonnie worried, gesturing to your limp body.

"You could wake her up," Toy Freddy suggested.

"What, and ruin their moment?" Toy Chica scolded him.

"The moment's been going on for over six hours," Toy Bonnie sighed.

"You don't like it?" Mangle wondered.

"No, I love it. I just haven't been able to clean my guitar yet," Toy Bonnie whined.

"I swear," Toy Chica muttered a scoff.

You felt one of Toy Bonnie's arms slip under your knees. He shifted some, pulling you up as he somehow stood without stumbling. He walked forward some, holding you "bridal style."

"Why don't you move her into the Parts/Service Room? That way the employees won't see her," Toy Freddy suggested.

"And put her at risk of being hurt? No way," Toy Bonnie hissed, tightening his grip on your form.

"Foxy can make sure nothing happens to her," Toy Chica assured him.

"You want me to trust that raider with my boo?" Toy Bonnie blurted, holding you close to him.

" 'Boo'?" Toy Freddy wondered.

"Yeah, like 'boo-tiful.' Because she's beautiful," Toy Bonnie explained, and Toy Chica and Mangle "awed"; you giggled, and Toy Bonnie looked down at you questioningly. "I think she likes it."

"I think, she's awake," Toy Freddy grunted.

"Hey, (Y/N)," Toy Bonnie spoke softly, trying to catch your attention, but making sure he didn't wake you if you were still asleep.

"Let me-"

"No, I got this," Toy Bonnie hissed.

He grazed under your knee, and you flinched. He snorted and started tickling your side. Your eyes shot open as you burst out in laughter, and you squirmed away from his hand. He laughed, and Toy Chica squealed as Toy Bonnie hugged you tightly. You grinned at him, and he carefully set you down.

"All right, now can we go, before an employee gets here and sees us?" Toy Freddy griped.

"I'll catch up to you in a sec. You guys go on," Toy Bonnie said, waving them off; they left the office, leaving you and Toy Bonnie alone.

"Hey?" you chuckled.

"You like your nickname? I came up with it while you were asleep," he crowed.

"Although, I don't usually like it when other people call their partners 'boo,' because it's cringy," you started, and Toy Bonnie's ears lowered. "But, when you say it, it's cute."

"Yeah? I thought, like, I could use it like, 'Hey, boo, I love you,' or 'That's my boo over there, the cute one,' " Toy Bonnie babbled as his ears perked up, and you giggled as your cheeks warmed up.

"I like it," you chuckled, and Toy Bonnie's ears twitched.

"Well, I should be getting to the Show Stage," he said as he grabbed his guitar.

"Yeah," you muttered.

"Oh, here," Toy Bonnie murmured as he took a keychain off one of the tuning pegs of his guitar, holding it out for you to grab.

"Oh?" you said, holding your hand out and catching them: they were the keys to the pizzeria. "Thank you."

"Not a problem. See ya later, then," he twittered, winking at you as he walked back and out of the room.

You smiled at him, and when he left, you looked around the room. You rolled up the chair, and sat down. You wondered what you would do in the meantime, waiting for your shift to start. Kicking your feet up onto the desk, you crossed your arms and relaxed. You thought about how the pizzeria was shutting down soon, and how you could prevent that from happening. You sighed, trying to think up a solution.

"Miss?" you heard a girls voice call out, and you fluttered your eyes awake.

"Hm?" you hummed, looking around, to see a group of children crowded around you.

"Hello, ma'am. Are you one of the workers here?" the same girl asked you.

"Oh," you said as you took your feet off the desk. "Yeah. I was working the night shift. Looks like I ended up falling asleep."

"Night shift?" a little boy asked curiously.

"Yeah, that's when someone works after the place is closed for the night. They make sure the crew, Toy Freddy and all his friends, don't cause too much mischief," you chuckled, and the kids "wowed" and gasped in wonder.

"Is it true that they walk around at night, looking around for someone to kill?" one worried, and the others looked at you eagerly.

"What? They do walk around at night, but they're only looking for someone to entertain," you replied in assurance, and the kids sighed and laughed in relief.

"Do they try to stuff you into a suit?" another kid asked.

"Gee, you kids have vivid imaginations. Look, the crew don't want to hurt you, they only want to entertain you all. They even have these 'abilities' to protect you at all costs," you assured them.

"What about that man?" one of the girls asked, and the others mumbled to eachother.

"Yesterday? That was only a mistake. Mangle thought that man was trying to hurt a kid, and so she reacted, without thinking. I made sure she heard about it though, and she is extremely sorry for doing what she did," you explained, trying to leave out things they didn't need to know about.

"We meant the other man," the girl replied.

"Is he gonna come back?" another quavered.

"Who?" you wondered.

"He's not going to hurt us again, is he?" a boy whined.

"What, no. Whoever you all are talking about, I'll make sure he doesn't hurt you again. Who are you guys talking about?"

"I just want to go home," a girl cried, and you scooted back some.

"I want my mommy and daddy," another boy whimpered, and the rest started to cry.

"Oh, it's okay guys. I can take you home, I'll take you all to your parents," you tried to comfort them, but they continued to cry.

You pushed the chair out from under you and stood up, seeing now that they were all covered in blood, and their clothes had shreds in them. They began to hug each other, trying to comfort one another. A wet feeling made you bring your finger to your eye. You felt tears slide down your cheeks, you never liked when other people cried, especially kids. The children looked up at you, and they all embraced you in a hug. You kneeled down, wrapping your arms around them and closing your eyes.

You opened your eyes, your arms were folded on the desk, underneath your cheek. You stretched as you sat up. You wiped your eyes, feeling that they were wet, and looked around. The hallway was lit up, and so were the Party Rooms. You took your phone out of your pocket, it was around 11 AM. You sighed, wondering if an employee had saw you asleep, and just left you to get some rest, or not. Before you had fallen asleep, you had thought of a way to try to keep the pizzeria open. You had come to a plan, but you didn't know if it would work.

(Author's Note) I don't blame you if you find some of this chapter cringey. I hope you enjoy it otherwise.
