Chapter 15 (Confession)
You unlocked the front doors, as it was 10 AM, time to open the pizzeria. You and Scott had been cleaning the place since around 6 AM. You looked over at Toy Bonnie and met his eyes, he quickly looked away and you chuckled; you had caught him staring at you multiple times, and he had the same reaction every time. Scott sat at one of the tables to rest for a minute, and you walked up to him.
"How do you think we'll do today?" you crowed as you tugged at the sleeve of your uniform.
"I think we'll do as good as we've been doing," Scott replied.
"Me too," you agreed as you smiled and nodded.
". . . Hey, sorry again, that I wasn't able to be here yesterday," he mumbled.
"No, it's fine," you assured him.
When the front doors opened, you looked back, to see a few employees walking in. You smiled and looked back at Scott; he nodded as he stood up.
You walked through the Main Hall, searching for the animatronics. As you turned into the "office hallway," you glanced into Party Room 4, and saw Toy Freddy with a group of people. You poked your head around the corner, in Party Room 3, and saw Toy Bonnie surrounded by a group of children. You stepped into the room, and Toy Bonnie looked up at you. As you gazed at each other, the room around you seemed to blur; you smiled lovingly, and his ears twitched. Before the two of you could get too deep into each other's eyes, a kid tugged on Toy Bonnie's arm.
"Toy Bonnie, what's it like to be so tall?" the kid asked.
"Mm- I feel grown-up," Toy Bonnie replied.
"Cool," the group of kids said in unison.
"Why don't you kids go to the Marionette and ask him how it feels to be tall," Toy Bonnie suggested, and the kids looked at each other, before running past you and out of the room.
"Hey, Bonbon," you said.
"Hiya, boo," Toy Bonnie crowed, and you smiled.
"Do you have a minute to talk?" you wondered.
"I believe so," he chuckled.
You jumped onto one of the tables, and sat down. You brought your legs up and crossed them, sitting "Indian-style." Toy Bonnie tilted his head as you tapped the edge of the table. He walked up to where you gestured and stood in front of you. You looked up at him, and his ears twitched. You thought now would be a good time to tell him how you felt.
"Okay, I just need to tell you something," you started, taking a deep breath.
"I can take it," Toy Bonnie bragged.
"I-. . . Uh. This is a whole lot harder than I thought," you murmured, suddenly realizing that you didn't think this through enough.
"What is it?" he asked.
"I-I don't really know how to say it. Well, I kinda know how to say it, I just don't know how to get it out," you explained, and scratched the back of your neck.
". . . Hey, I need to be getting to the Show Stage. A show is comin' on here in a couple minutes," he revealed bashfully.
"Oh, go on then," you replied.
Toy Bonnie nodded, and started towards the doorway. After he left the room, you sighed as you stared ahead. You unfolded your legs and dangled them off the edge of the table. You hopped onto the floor, and dusted the back of your pants off. A little girl quickly stepped into the room, but paused as she looked around the room in confusion.
"Excuse me, miss," the girl spoke up as her eyes landed on you.
"Yes?" you wondered.
"Where's Toy Bonnie?" she asked you.
"He's on his way to the stage. A show's about to start," you told her.
"Ooh," she squealed, and walked through the doorway; before she turned around the corner, she looked back at you. "Thank you."
Before you could reply with a "You're welcome," she ran off. A warm smile etched its way on your face. You walked through the doorway and around the corner; you made your way through the Main Hall, and stepped into the dining area. The animatronics were already in their places on stage, as people were sitting and standing near the tables, getting ready for them to perform.
As Toy Freddy greeted everyone, you made your way towards the back of the crowd. You waved to Balloon Boy as you passed him, and he slowly waved his balloon in response. You walked into Kids' Cove, and Mangle quickly looked up at you.
"Hey," you said.
"Hello, (Y/N)," she greeted you.
"I assume Toy Chica's already told you about what I said yesterday?" you wondered as you sat on the floor beside her.
"Yeah."
"Mm- I tried to tell Toy Bonnie how I felt about him, but I hesitated, and I couldn't get it out fast enough; he had to get to the Show Stage," you sighed.
"Don't worry, darling. You'll tell him eventually," Mangle assured you.
"How do I tell him?" you asked.
"Well, I've never had to talk about this with anyone, so I don't know for sure. Maybe you should think it out, and tell him tonight," she suggested.
"I've been thinking about it, just not about how I was gonna get so nervous. If I can't catch him after the show, I'll do what you said, and wait until tonight," you mused.
"Okay then," she said, and you pushed yourself up.
"See ya later, Mangle," you added as you walked towards the doorway.
Mangle waved at you in response, and you stepped out of Kids' Cove. As you made your way towards the stage, you heard Toy Freddy and the other two, singing a cover of "Dream Lover" by Bobby Darin. You walked past the tables and stood beside the Main Hall doorway. When they finished, an uproar of people clapping filled the pizzeria.
"That was great you guys," Toy Freddy crowed as he looked at Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica.
"Ya think so?" Toy Chica chuckled.
"Of course it was," Toy Bonnie bragged.
"We'll be back up here in about an hour. So, don't you go nowhere," Toy Freddy told the audience.
As the animatronics started off the stage, you quickly jumped up to Toy Bonnie. Toy Freddy and Toy Chica carefully hopped off the stage, and Toy Bonnie looked past you at them. When he looked back at you, you smiled sweetly, and his ears twitched.
"Hey, Bonbon," you muttered as you straightened his bowtie.
"Hi, did you need something?" he wondered.
"Yeah. I wanted to tell you what I was going to tell you earlier," you said as you looked up at him.
"Uhm, can this wait for later?" he whispered, and looked past you. "I've got a group of children who are waiting for me."
"Oh," you mumbled as you looked towards the floor.
"Sorry," he muttered as he walked past you, and you looked back at him.
You sighed, watching him walk up to a group of kids, and kneel down to them. You walked towards the hatch, deciding that you could go to the gym to take a shower, and tell him later. Maybe, you thought, you could think of a better way to tell him. You lifted the hatch and closed it behind you as you walked down the steps. As you walked through the kitchen, a few chefs waved at you, and you waved back.
When you got into the employees' lounge, a few employees who were sipping on their cups of coffee, suddenly gulped down their drinks nervously. As you walked towards the couch, they passed you and left. You scrunched your eyebrows in confusion, but continued, to kneel down in front of the couch. You pulled out your suitcase and got your drawstring bag out, putting in what you usually did; you pulled out your "BOO-tiful" shirt, thinking that it would make the moment better, as well as your black skinny jeans.
You locked the front doors after watching Scott drive off, and turned to see the animatronics already off stage, as usual. You walked with them to one of the tables, Mangle following along the ceiling. Everyone sat in their usual spots, as Balloon Boy went into the Main Hall, for Foxy.
"Business today was good," Toy Freddy brought up, breaking the silence.
"Yeah," you agreed, not really paying much attention.
"There were a lot of kids coming into my room!" Mangle gushed.
"That's great!" Toy Chica crowed.
"Hey, Bonbon," you whispered as you looked over at him.
"Yeah?" he murmured back.
"Can you meet me back towards the office, in a few minutes?" you requested quietly.
"Is something wrong?" he worried.
"No, I just want to talk to you about something," you assured him, and you looked up to see the rest of the animatronics staring at the two of you.
"Okay," he whispered.
"Uhm, you guys probably heard all of that, but I'd like to excuse myself anyways," you spoke nervously as you stood up from your chair.
"You," Toy Chica giggled.
"Sh!" you hissed, and she put her finger on her beak as she winked at you.
You quickly walked into the Main Hall, before anybody else could say anything. You passed Balloon Boy and Foxy, exchanging waves, and stepped around the corner. You took a deep breath as you leaned against the wall. Toy Bonnie probably wouldn't wait too long, so you had until then to get yourself ready. You pushed yourself off the wall as you shook your hands.
"You've got this," you told yourself, trying to get yourself excited. "This is the moment."
You hopped in your steps, unknowingly pacing back and forth. You went through what you were going to say in your head, over and over. You punched the air, and chuckled, feeling really confident and eager. You turned towards the doorway when you heard footsteps. Toy Bonnie stuck his head around the corner, his ears twitching. As he stepped through the doorway, all of your confidence drained from your body.
"Hey, what did you want to talk about?" he wondered, and you gulped.
"Well . . . I just wanted to-. . ." You paused, taking in a deep breath. "Here."
You reached into your pocket, and stuck a dollar bill out for Toy Bonnie to take. His ear tilted over, and you smiled at how cute he was. He gently grabbed the bill, looking at it peculiarly, and looked back up at you in confusion.
"A fifty dollar bill? What's this for?" Toy Bonnie wondered, and you put your hands in your pockets bashfully.
"I lost the bet," you replied as a timid smile made your lips twitch.
"Bet? What bet?" he asked, and you scoffed.
"I don't have to spell it out for ya, do I?" you sneered, and Toy Bonnie tilted his head; you waited a second for him to get it, and his eyes widened as his ears twitched.
"You- Are we thinking of the same bet?" Toy Bonnie blurted in excitement.
"I believe so," you giggled as you nodded.
"Really?" he exclaimed, and you chuckled.
"Yeah," you said, and he pulled you into a tight hug; you hugged him back.
"I-I can't really take this from you, though. I wouldn't know what to do with it," he told you as he gently pulled away from you, and stuck out the dollar bill.
"Thank goodness," you muttered as you grabbed it from him and stuffed it back in your pocket. "I can't afford to lose fifty dollars."
". . . But, what about all those things you said?" he mentioned. "About me being an animatronic?"
"Well, all of that is kind of true, but that's not really the reason," you explained.
"What do you mean?"
"I said all those things to try to push my feelings away."
"First of all, I want to mention that you have feelings for me," Toy Bonnie bragged, and you chuckled. "Second, why would you push your feelings away? Isn't that, like, a bad thing?"
"Yeah, but I don't want to get my hopes up," you said.
"What?" he asked.
"I-I don't know how to explain it," you mumbled as you scratched the back of your neck.
"Whatever it is, I mean, we can get through it together, can't we?" he wondered hopefully, and you sighed.
"I don't want to lose you by chance, but then again, I can't just not help those children," you mused as you ran your hand through your hair nervously.
"Children?" he questioned in bewilderment.
"Ugh, I don't know if I wasn't supposed to tell you, but your guys' spirits have been contacting me," you told him hesitantly.
"Our spirits?" he asked as his eyes widened.
"Yeah, they've been telling me about how I can 'separate' them from you," you muttered.
"Oh . . . That's fine, then," Toy Bonnie assured you abruptly, and you scrunched your eyebrows.
"Bu- What about-. . . What?" you blabbered in confusion.
"It's fine. We can just try to work past that," he explained unconvincingly, and you squinted at him.
"Are-"
"Hey, why don't we go tell the rest the good news," he suggested as he grabbed your wrist and pulled you along with him.
He pulled you past the doorway and into the Main Hall. You tried to keep up with him as he dragged you through the hallway. As the two of you got into the dining area, the animatronics, including Foxy and Balloon Boy, looked up at you and Toy Bonnie. Toy Bonnie walked you to the table that they were sitting at. He pulled you forward, and you stumbled in front of him; he gripped your shoulders, keeping you from falling over, and you tensed.
"Good news, guys!" Toy Bonnie gushed.
"What's the good news, Bon?" Toy Chica asked innocently, and Mangle snickered.
"(Y/N), why don't you tell them," he suggested.
"Oh, I told Toy Bonnie that I love him," you admitted shyly, and the animatronics' eyes lit up.
"Love? Isn't that kind of a big deal?" Toy Freddy wondered.
"That's what I told her," Toy Chica mentioned, and Toy Freddy looked over at her questioningly, and then back to you.
"And the rest?" Toy Bonnie said enthusiastically, and you looked back to see him staring at you with wide eyes, his ears twitching every few seconds; you felt suspicious about his behavior.
"Are you guys together now?" Mangle asked in excitement.
"No, we're not," you replied as you squinted at Toy Bonnie skeptically.
"Oh, why's that?" Mangle uttered in disappointment.
"Yeah, why is that?" Toy Bonnie asked in fake disappointment, and you glared at him.
"I already told you," you grumbled.
"But you didn't tell the others. Tell the others," he replied as your glare deepened.
"I told him that we can't be together," you stated blankly, and Toy Bonnie's pupils dilated as he held your eye contact.
"Why can't you guys be together?" Toy Chica mumbled.
"Because, if I separate your spirits from you, you may not come back," you replied as you looked back at the rest, their eyes widened as they shared glances with each other.
". . . Spir-its?" Foxy asked slowly as his gaze remained on you, and you gulped.
"Gee, you look awfully tired," Toy Bonnie said in fake worry as he looked over your shoulder and at your face; he started to push you towards the Show Stage.
"I do?" you managed to say as he pushed you up onto the stage.
"Why don't you get some rest," he added as he stepped to the side and lifted up the hatch, gesturing for you to go down the steps.
"You don't want to come with me?" you wondered.
"Mm- I think I'm just gonna talk with the rest, for a while," he replied, and you hesitantly started down the steps.
You kept eye contact with Toy Bonnie, starting to feel worried about his behavior. When you got far enough down, he shut the hatch with a loud thud. You ran your hand through your hair as you made your way into the employees' lounge, suddenly regretting bringing up the spirits. You didn't know he, or the rest, would react that way; nor did you know what their future intentions were going to be.
You pushed past the double doors, and stepped into the employees' room. There wasn't much you could do, but wait, and you could get some sleep in the meantime. You pulled out your suitcase, taking out your toothbrush and toothpaste, as well as a few other things to get ready for bed; a set of pajamas were included.
(Author's Note) I am so, so sorry about the two week long wait; it'll probably be the longest I'll ever leave you guys hanging. Other than me not being motivated enough to write, I don't really have any plausible excuses.
