The Firestarter sketch/character study (The 90's Kids)

Here we have the amazing Firestarter, one of the main characters of The 90's Kids

-

The Firestarter's origins are majorly unknown, even by the other Kids, and frankly she claims that the memory is 'behind a door, that is locked, made of steel, is also somehow on fire, and for good measures has bars as well'. Whatever it was that happened, it's linked to why she had such horrible burn scars, but not her prosthetic, she can remember clearly that she had it before the burns. Found by Thomas, Wind Chester and Ace back when they were all around the age of six, she was running from a child asylum ward. Her existence in the asylum was later 'forgotten' when a six year old Thomas sacrificed the head warden to the ITS and stole the records about her, these records were later burnt by The Firestarter. Despite her injuries associated with fire, she's not at all afraid of it and is in fact a total pyromaniac. When the Kids banded together and started the circus, she turned her addiction into a circus act.

Personality wise The Firestarter is very candid, meaning she's truthful and pretty straightforwards, and disregarding the massive lie she and the other Kids are hiding (something that wracks the heck out of her nerves) she won't lie or beat around the bush. While she's a little more serious and mature then Wind Chester, she does love fun and mischief and is the only other Kid that will join him in his pranks. The Firestarter is a 'hurt me once I'll kill you twice' kind of person, and doesn't handle betrayal all that well to the point that if you hurt her enough she will lash back and never trust you again. She can be a bit naive and awkward, namely when it comes to emotions and relationships, she doesn't understand either all that well. Her methods usually include setting things on fire, though for the sake of her friends she will try not to cause trouble, when it comes to the other Kids, she is extremely protective. To sum it up, she's most of the time an honest being that tries to have fun, she  likes being a bit crazy and fire happy, but she's at the same time a raging ball of nerves that easily lashes out at high stress situations and finds it difficult to forgive. She's a bit of a adrenaline junky, but not a fear junky, she doesn't like nor handle scary things all that well.

Relationships:

Thomas- Like the other Kids, Thomas is her leader and she respects him and follows him without question. She usually playfully calls him 'boss' or 'Tommy', and like the other Kids usually calls for him when things go badly as she understands how powerful he is and even slightly fears his powers. After not only saving her from being dragged back to the Asylum, but later saving her from one of Pipra's gangs after she was fooled into believing the leader loved her when really he had ill intentions, The Firestarter began to believe that she was truly in love with Thomas and couldn't think of anything else the 'warm, hopeful and gushy' feeling inside her whenever she was near him could be.

Rice Field- Rice Field is everyone's voice of reason, but mainly she's such for The Firestarter. The two are on the opposite sides of the spectrum in almost every aspect, but when push comes to shove they can accomplish almost anything together. While The Firestarter states she finds it irritating to have someone constantly tell her she can't burn things or that maybe it's a completely bad idea to actually juggle flaming chainsaws, she will never admit that she's secretly grateful that someone is there to keep her from being too crazy. Being the only two girls of the group before Echo came along, they often have girls nights where Rice Field tries (and fails) to do something with The Firestarter's hair. The Firestarter claims the consequence lessons she teaches spawn from Rice Field's lectures, proving she does actually listen. The Firestarter is painfully oblivious to Rice Field's crush on her.

Ace- Like the other Kids, The Firestarter can understand his form of communication. Because Ace can't spwak and doesn't show a lot of emotion, The Firestarter finds it actually very easy to relate to him and understand him, she finds Ace's prescience and 'not doing the whole emotion thing' calming and likes how he doesn't 'yell' at her when she doesn't have the best idea. Together they work out emotions for each other, though most of the time it ends up with either admitting it's unreasonably difficult.

Wind Chester- Typically her partner in crime as well as a playful rival, if something is crazy you can safely bet that they'll do it even if they've most likely been told that they aren't allowed to. This doesn't mean she can stand his puns though, and whenever he makes one she can't help but groan and threaten to set him on fire, but she would never... hopefully. The two however work flawlessly together and because of that they often have duel acts together.

Huxley- Like the other Kids, The Firestarter will protect Huxley with her life and wants what's best for him, even if that means hiding everything from him. Though she understands she's not the best role model, she does her very best to be there for him and tries to teach him all the life lessons she can, mainly ones on safety and how actions can have consequences. While they unfortunately have a high chance of not hitting their marks, it's the thought that counts. She also helps in teaching him a lot about how fienkins are, and she's more then glad to help him with his schooling at any time.
