Azmorvin piyan (puffball)
(The puffball sketch was drawn a while ago while the piyan sketch was drawn today August 9th)
Azmorvin:
Species name: Azmorvin (sometimes called Azmors for short)
Name meaning: 'Azmor' meaning 'black' in Blahscabysan
Pronunciation: Az-mor-vin (Common) Awh-zz-moah-veen (Blahscabysan)
Core type: dark core
Size: males and females are typically the same size, the average Azmorvin will be 6-7 feet tall (182-213 centimetres)
Weight: the average weight is typically anywhere between 140-180lbs (63-81 kilograms)
Wingspan: averagely 13-16 feet (396-487 centimetres)
Description: Azmorvin always have coal black skin, digitigrade legs, black feet with pointed toes, and three markings on both sides of the face (the third marking is past the eyes in males). They have slim bat like membrane wings with two hooked talons, only the males will have the wing markings on the bottoms of the webbings as well as the ringlets, both genders however have spots along the backs of their wings. Males talons are larger, a noticeable feature is his many bioluminescent markings, these again male exclusive only. Females have markings on their faces as well, but only males get wing markings, this feature is to both show off well being and health as well as warn away rivals or predators. Both genders have three small spikes on the bottom of the wing membrane, which have a channel of poison in them. Males are tipped white, well females are all black. Both male and female glow, males just glow brighter. They have no hair at all, the closest thing to such is the fluffy white fur to grow around their necks, males will grow a full collar while females just grow this on their shoulders. This fluff is always white and has the texture of cotton, as it never stops growing it must be trimmed, often weekly. A ridge of small stubs goes down the azmorvin's head, stopping just at between the shoulders. Markings of both genders can be purple, blue, red, orange, aqua, light green, or lavender in colour. They always have orange eyes with light green pupils, and like their markings, they glow in the dark. Azmorvin blood is purple red in colour, and along with all other body fluids, it glows when inside the body, but when it leaves the body it will slowly lose its glow no long will be bioluminescence. When it comes to clothing a male will wear next to none as a means to show off his body, more particularly his markings. He has tougher skin to deal with the cold. A female wears far more clothing, as she is less colourful she's far better at camouflage.
Diversity (features found in their species alone): Azmorvin have a unique trait of having a sibling partner, this twin will mentor their own child and they will take their twin's children in turn should they have any. Their eyes are uniquely coloured, and the fur around the shoulders being the only hair on their body is too a feature found in their breed alone.
Group species or solidarity?: more often than not they are a group species. They can sometimes found on their own, but over all they prefer to live in larger numbers. A pack can have up to twenty members.
Habits: Azmorvin have the habit of being very....Hissy. They also are more active at nighttime, sleeping throughout the day in their secure dens. They are very territorial, and will not hesitate to send a intruder running for their life. They also have a habit of making contact with each other's wings, this system of nudging, tapping and grooming is a way of bonding and is done throughout members of the clan to strengthen connections. They will also "purr" when happy.
Social system: Azmorvin live in a tight clan system, where they have a leader leading them, and establish a hierarchy almost like rankings for the members based on skill and age. This clan is closely bonded, and all members know each other, therefore psychical touch is a must, referring to the wing contact. The leader will choose an "beta" who will be next leader. This is decided by a clan vote and election.
Apprentages: wings, no tail
Weapons/attack forms/abilities: Azmorvin are made of dark energy, and that gathers in their cores. That being said they can see, move faster, and heal faster in the dark. They can use their talons and fangs as weapons, but being said, their fangs can be quite brittle at times if they bite wrong, therefore well not in use, they stay retracted. If they break, they'll grow back luckily, but it's still painful. The main weapon is the deadly venom in their fangs and blood. This venom is designed to stop the prey's heart and close up the lungs, causing the prey to die of suffocation and blood clot. The prey will almost instantly start dying after about a minute of the bite. In that minute, there is a cure. An anti-bite from a different Azmorvin will cure the poison. Azmorvin are known to make spears and fight with those as weapons.
Life cycle: From birth, a Azmorvin pup will have no markings and very small talon-less wings. They can't walk, or see or hear. They rely heavily on their parents, and will be on a steady diet of chewed up food supplied by ether parent as regardless if the relationship is male female, male male, or female female, parenting is a shared task and is done by both. The venom from the parents saliva will leave the food toxic, this will jumpstart the pup's core to start making its own venom and help their immune system. At two months, the pup will be able to fully see, and crawl. At three months markings appear, and the pup will start walking on all fours. At the age of 1300 (twenty six human years) their wings are more developed, and although still flightless, twin talons will have appeared, and the pup will start favouring walking on their two feet rather than four, and will start trying to fly. At the age of 2000 (forty human years) they are a full grown adult fully capable of flight. They have the life expectancy of 10,000 years (two hundred human years) but it depends on if they live in the clan or not. A loner had a major setback in life expectancy, being only 5000 (one hundred human years), which is half. It can also depend on how good at hunting and avoiding predators that loner individual is. A lone Azmorvin is almost unheard of however due to their twin relationship.
Food source: They are hunters, often known to hunt at night, but will go during the day as well, using deadly venom to catch their meaty prey. This prey can range from most small animals, to bigger herbivores, to birds, to fish, even smaller species of piyan on very rare occasions (cannibalism is a last resort). They hunt alone, and will eat their first catch, than will stay out to find another one and bring the next one to their family. Both genders hunt, hunting styles often being stalking, dive bombing it from high up giving a swift bite than retreating and letting the venom kill, to using their markings to attract unexpecting food. Their core (the centre chamber of all piyans) are rather hardy, and can digest bones and fur should they consume such. That being said, they can eat also plants, more so sticking with soft fruit they can suck the juice out of. They have been known to sharpen sticks and build pit traps and even snares to catch prey.
Family: Like all piyans (with the exception of Velzdra), Azmorvin are monogamous. Meaning they mate for life. During a certain season males will do the best to impress the one they love, if they become mates, they'll stay completely faithful to each other, even if one of them dies. Because of this, making sure to pick carefully is a golden rule. A mated pair than if choosing to do so will have a pair of offspring or adopt a pair, (however having just one child or three isn't unheard off, it's just most common to have just two) these twins will be normally very very close and help each other, keep each other company, and more often than not stay this way all throughout their entire life. Parent Azmorvin share the task of raising the two pups in a turn system, where one stays and cares for them while the other hunts or gets water. As they get older, the pups will be taught how to hunt, fight, and many other skills needed for survival by ether of the parents twin sibling as a mentor figure. If the parent's sibling is no longer alive or the parent was an only child, the pup will be raised by a member of the leader's and parents choosing.
Heath: Azmorvin naturally are hardy, and don't get sick often past your common cold. They can break their fangs due to their brittleness, but they'll grow back. After lots of hunting or fighting, they can get a low toxic level, causing them to be sluggish and have slow reaction times. Being a single elemental core of pure dark energy, they are free from Core Corruptions. The worse they can get is that they use their poison up, and will be unable to glow for a while until it's replenished.
Bio sum up:
Azmorvin live in a close clan like societies, they inhabit both planet Itoreh and Gaelistor of the galaxy Doran and are suited for places that have trees where they can make camps and small huts to live in. They like each other's company and touch, however will be extremely territorial to outsiders or threats, and wouldn't hesitate to kill. From birth to juvenile stage, they will have a quadrupled walking style, but by adulthood will be full bipedal. They have a deadly fatal venomous bite, used for hunting, eyes and markings are bioluminescent which whe needed can be dimmed, all traits making it a perfect nighttime ambush hunter, they prefer solo hunting, and poison their prey to kill it before feasting, than dragging the rest back home. They have powerful wings, and are very fast silent flyers, and can easily reach speeds of 160.934kph (100mph) and are very maneuverable and stealthy. They generally are short tempered, hissy, and often grumpy, and are have little tolerance with those who invade their territory.
