Edgy Encounter
[Jaimie's POV:]
I sat down for a couple minutes there in the middle of the room. Most tears were gone. "Jaimie?" I heard, come up from the balcony. It was Gene. I smiled at her, and I was glad to see my best friend one on one again. I don't know what would happen if I told her what just happened to me. "Why are you down there?" I was now standing up again. "I was just doing a bit of exploring.. it took me a minute to realize that we started here..." I laughed a bit. Gene smiled. "Did you find anything cool?" I walked up the stairs to her. Gene shook her head in dissapointment. "Nope. Couldn't find anything. But this place looks really beautiful during the day..." Gene started to look at her surroundings. "Yeah it is really pretty, in fact it feels..more relaxing? I don't know. The atmosphere just makes everything a little better I suppose." I didn't want to nerd out to her, but it really is nice. Gene looked back at me. We began to walk. "Do you think this house is Britt's?" She asked, as we shuffled down the hallway. We were heading back to the room where we were all in before. "Yeah. I mean, look at this." I said as we stopped by that same painting. "Read the caption." I glanced at the painting. The temptation to tell her the information I heard just before was to real. Gene read the caption, actually quite shocked. "It even looks like her, too." I looked away from the painting, and back at Gene. "....I actually just ran into Britt." I said. God dammit. What was I supposed to do? And what is going to happen now that I told Gene? Gene looked shocked. "What?! How'd you get away?" She was obviously intrigued. I sighed. "She wasn't there to fight me. Apparently because of what happened to Bryce yesterday means that she may give us a day to relax....or at least try to." Gene nodded. "Well, that seems fair. Is that all she said?" I looked at her with a calm expression. I couldn't tell her, it would give her stress...and that is the last thing we need right now. "Yeah. That was it." My heart broke. I just lied to my best friend. I didn't want to, but I don't think she would handle being told that there was a more powerful demon than Britt lurking the halls with us very well. Nobody really would, to be honest.
Me and Gene walked inside the room. Jake smiled. "Oh good, you guys are back!" He said. Everyone was there. "What is it? Did you find something?" I asked, intrigued and interested. "Yep!" Jake nodded happily. "Me and Tyler found a really cool room. It's small, but it's like a library." It wasn't surprising that Jake was the person to point this out. He can nerd out sometimes. Says the one who was amazed at the architecture of this place. "Maybe we should go check it out then. It sounds interesting, and for all we know there could be something there worth the look at." Finny said, trying to spark an interest. And she was successful. We all headed out the door, Jake leading. There was twelve of us remaining, and hopefully that number will stick for some time.. I don't exactly know what Britt meant. What will happen if we do run into this.. 'she' person.. and honestly, i'm not the one curious enough to find out. But at this rate..I just want to save my friends and keep them alive. The twelve players, Gene Hadley, Ruben Oxford, Mordecai Jones, Tyler Jones, Finny Pierce, Morgan Powell, Mason Parker, Marshall Hudson, Kiera Thompson, Kate Fletcher, and Jake Shaffer, were now all in to play. Britt was sugar coding that Bryce's death was a warning. And how things were going to get rough.
I guess I must of been visibly thinking because Marshy looked at me. "Jaimie, what's up?" He said, trying to be protective and helpful, which was never really a problem. I looked back at him. "Oh, just thinking. Sorry." I smiled a bit. "No need to apologize. Thinking is good to do, because some people don't know how." Marshy sighed. Kate then looked back at Marshy. "Just like you." She smirked, teasingly. Marshy chuckled. "Well, your not the sharpest tool in the shed either, Kate." Marshy smirked back. Kate and Marshy were frenemies. I couldn't tell if they meant it or not. "Ooh, Burned." Ruben chimed in, chuckling a bit also. "Oh shut it, Ruben!" Kate nudged him. "You all are immature beings. I swear." Kate turned. I guess being modest makes her feel proud? This wasn't new to any of us, to say the least.
We then arrived at the small room finally. "Here!" Jake said happily. "Good job." Morgan scoffed. "It only took you an hour to get your shit together." Jake turned, facing Morgan. "I am not taking any of your bullshit right now." Jake huffed and turned around again. I looked all through the room. "Holy crap. There's gotta be something here. A clue, at least!" Mason glanced all over the room. This place was filled with books. "Mason's right, there's gotta be something.." I said as I looked around also. I walked toward this desk, that was very old fashioned. I looked through the drawers. Nothing. I scanned the top of the desk. "These are just regular books." Finny said and sighed. "Nice going, nerd. There's nothing here." Cai groaned in annoyance. Jake sighed. "Thanks, Cai. Love you too man." Kiera looked at some books on a shelf. "Oh lighten up. Jake had a good idea to see if anything was here. Even if there isn't, it still is worth a shot." In my opinion, I agreed with Kiera. I mean, we could use any information or clue now. I also wonder sometimes on how Marshy feels about this.. him and Mary are really close for siblings. They rarely fight and when they do it's usually just stupid disagreements. I put my hair behind my ear, turning on a lamp on another desk. There was a small card just laying there on the desktop. "Hey, what's this?" Marshy was the first person to turn over and look at what I've found. I read the card heading. "The Alison Family.." I somewhat mumbled. The rest was all in really detailed script, handwriting. It is difficult to figure out. "Must be Britt's last name." Morgan said, standing next to me. "If only I could see what it says-" I said, but all of a sudden cut off by Jake. "Ooh!" Jake's face lit up. "I can try and decode it!" He seemed excited. We might as well give it a shot. "Knock yourself out." Marshy added, swiping the card from in between my fingers giving it to Jake. Marshy's expression was blank, but Jake's looked like a kid on Christmas receiving the toy he waited all year for. Jake sat down, scanning the text. "God, your such a nerd." Cai sighed. He obviously wasn't interested in any of this. "Nerds are smart though, unlike you." Ruben looked down at Cai. "Did I ask for your opinion, numbnuts?" Cai grunted at Ruben. "Nope." Ruben smiled teasingly. Tyler smiled also, oh the joy of seeing your sibling get a taste of his own medicine.
After a few minutes, Jake sprang up out of the chair happily. "I got it!" All of us suddenly looked toward him. "What does it say?" Tyler asked in curiosity. Almost everyone was interested in knowing. Even I was. "It reads "The Alison Family, I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Britt was always so nice and joyful, and it aches our hearts to hear that she had disappeared. We are here to comfort you if needed. With kind regards..." Jake then squinted down at the small piece of paper. "I can't read out the name. Sorry." He tried a smile. "No, Jake that was amazing." I smiled at him. "I never could of decoded that. Your talented." I smiled again, cheering him up. He smiled back. "Thanks, Jaimie." Kate looked amazed. "That truly was something. Well done." Jake looked happy. "Thank you, Thank you." Jake's glasses were glared due to the light. "This gives us more info on Britt." Mason said while thinking. "The more we know, the closer we might get to finding Mary." Marshy added. "I guess she wondered off or something of that matter.. the painting of her in that one hallway looked young..and she probably was." Gene said as she thought out loud. "Hey guys, I hate to ruin your little teamwork moment, but I think we should get going." Kiera said as she pointed out the window. It was already sunset, and we didn't even notice. We all headed out. It didn't take long for it to get dark again. We could barley see through the hallway. Marshy found a lantern in one of the rooms and took it for a light source. I stayed close by him. The atmosphere was creeping me out. "Where are we?" Mason said, squinting and trying to look forward. "I can see jack shit." Morgan scoffed. "Yeah, nice job captain obvious." Mason ignored her. We all suddenly heard scratch- like sounds, paired with patting of heavy boots. I flinched, clinging onto Marshy's arm. "What was that?" Tyler pointed out, the air grew thick. We could barley see anything, and were hearing noises. We all turned slowly, and Marshy stuck out the lantern, but it didn't help at all. "Who's there?" He called. No response. The noises grew closer. My heart was racing. All of ours were, to be honest. The noises got closer, and closer. Marshy held out the lantern a little bit more. There was silence for a moment. "Heeeeelllllllooo!" A cheery, happy voice said, as the figure came into view. We all screamed, Ruben and Marshy tried to punch him. He simply dodged. "Nyeh." The man said, throwing a jelly bean at both of them somewhat gently. "Ow." Marshy and Ruben and said at the same time as a jelly bean thumped their foreheads. We all then got a better view at this weird person. He had blue hair, and could easily be mistaken for a girl. He had a red tie under his blue hair, and an army looking suit on. He also had a huge freaking bag next to him, which was highly questionable..regarding his appearance. Marshy looked down in suspicion. "What's in the bag? And who are you?" He questioned him, raising an eyebrow. The blue-haired man smiled happily. "I'm Quirk!" The twelve of us just looked at Quirk in silence. "Is this guy for real..?" Morgan whispered. "Then what's in the bag..?" I said, looking down at the huge piece of luggage on the floor. "Oh! This thing??" Quirk opened the bag. Most of it was filled with weapons. And ammo. Marshy's face lit up. Oh dear lord. "Can I take these twin pistols?" He asked. Quirk's smile seemed to stay. "I don't usually hand strangers guns on principle, but you seem like perfectly sane non-homicidal party-thrower, so SURE!" He exclaimed. He obviously did not know the situation that we were all facing. But Marshy was trained. He went hunting almost every summer, he took me once, that was a lot of fun. I hope we can do that again, once we get out of here. "Ha!" Marshy said, smiling. "Britt's gonna have hell to pay." His smile turned into a smirk. "Marshy, don't go over your head about this..this is unusual." Kate pointed out. She was right. And Marshy knew there was something not right here. This person, popping out of nowhere, with jelly beans and a bag full of guns shouldn't be trusted. "I know." Marshy raised the gun at Quirk. "You with Britt?" He interrogated. Quirk looked confused, almost terrified. "Who's Britt? Is she British?" Marshy just looked at him with a blank expression. This guy couldn't be working with Britt. Marshy lowered the gun. I mean, honestly. He could be playing us, but then again he seems very confused an unaware where he is. And in my opinion, the way he's handling it I can assure you he's not faking. But it still seems weird to me. Marshy took the pistols and ammo. "Control yourself with those, tiger. Bullets may not even work." I looked at Marshy. I can tell he knew I was right. "Yeah, but it's worth a shot!" Marshy smile grew. "Get it? Shot?" He said almost laughing, holding up the double pistols. "What the hell is even going on." Cai chimed in. "Alrighty, welp i'm going to go now. Gooooodddddddddbyeeeee!" Quirk said, in a triumphant manner. He left a faint trail of jelly beans. He picked them up when he realized some fell. And there he went, fading into the darkness. We all just stood there in confusion and silence. "What in the name of frick was that." Mason stated, breaking the silence. "Whatever. Let's just keep going." Cai grudged, as we all started to walk down the hall again. I was still standing close to Marshy. That was....a little weird. But Marshy got a weapon out of it, and hopefully that can help us.
Hopefully.
