CHAPTER 3

A/N: Teresa Palmer is Ayla.

AYLA

As I was walking out of the door to take the trash out, I look over the area. There were guards all around everywhere. I don't know how I will get Milo out of this place. it was kind of like a prison. no one could get out, least of all Milo.

I went towards the rubbish truck and shucked the bags inside. I bang on the back to indicate that they can leave now. I watch the truck leave to the next pack.

I went back inside of the house when I gasped. I know! I rushed back outside and stared at the truck. It passed right through the guards. They didn't even check it. My heart was beating with excitement. Milo could ride in that truck to the Blood Moon Pack. I could put him in a rubbish or something. Chuck him in the pack and then he can get out and find his father.

He will leave tomorrow morning when the truck comes back. I felt hope for my pup. I could feel my wolf become content with the fact that by this time tomorrow, Milo will be free. And so will I...in my own way.

SOLOMON

I walked to the lounge when I saw Sophie, "Hey Sophie, I was wondering where I could find some extra blankets?"

She looked up from her phone and smiled, "Check the guest bedroom, should be some there."

I nod my head, "Thanks!" I walked down the hall and entered the guest room. It was so clean and the windows were so clear. I opened the closet and took a pile of blankets. Before I left I walked to the window. I looked out into the open where I could see the pack members going about their daily deeds. All this will be mine soon. I have to be a good Alpha.

As I turned to leave, I stopped. Something caught my nose a scent. I turned back towards the window and stared around it. It smelled of something. I dropped all the blankets and took a step closer. I touched the window curiously. I leaned my head in and took a deep whiff. I stumbled backward in shock. My eyes widen and my heartbeat increased. It can't be...can it? I was so confused. How could this be? I took another deep inhale of the scent and was instantly hit with memories. It was familiar. It was comforting. It was hope. It was Ayla. I caught the scent of my lost mate. She's here somewhere.

I turn and sprint out of the room, completely forgetting anything about the blankets. My mate was near. I felt my wolf spirit lighten in excitement. It could sense our mate. She's here in this pack somewhere.

I never thought would smell that scent ever again. It was beautiful. It smelt like vanilla with a hint of spice. It was just amazing.

17 YEAR OLD SOLOMON

I was waiting in the school carpark for Ayla. I had our two coffees in hand. I looked at the entrance of the park and saw she was walking in with a hoodie and hair in a ponytail. She walks up to me and greets me with her usual perfect smile.

"Good morning, Solo."

I give her, her Chai Latte with extra cinnamon, "Good mornin. Why are you all smiling."

She shrugs her shoulders, "I don't know, I just woke up feeling happy today."

I raise my one brow in question, "You're never happy when you come to school. You always say its the high school WITHOUT the musical."

She laughs, "I know! It's so weird. I just feel...positive. Maybe something good will happen today?"

I shrug my shoulders, "Maybe...anyways. I am not positive, so can we please just go to class and get this day over with?"

She rolls her eyes, but smirks, "Alright, grumpy ass...let's go!" She says cheerfully and I groan. This is going to be a long day.

It was finally lunch time. I went to the cafeteria and sat at my and Ayla's usual spot. I was flicking on my phone while waiting for her. As I was waiting...I was thinking. She has been my best friend for a while now. Ever since Xander was gone...I wasn't myself...and I'm still not myself. But when I met Ayla, she changed everything. She was always so happy and so bright. Being around her instantly lightened my mood. She just radiates happiness. It's contagious. You can't help but be the same. She made me more into...me again.

When I first met her...I thought of her as just a good friend...a sister maybe. But now, I have these other feelings involved. I know it's wrong because I should be waiting for my mate...but I just feel so connected to her. She has somehow, without me even knowing really, become my everything. I don't know if I should tell her or not. If I do tell her and she doesn't feel the same way, our friendship could fail. And I don't want that, I don't want to stop being friends. But if I don't tell her, I feel like I might regret for the rest of my life.

I look up from my phone and search the room for Ayla. She hasn't come yet and it's been a while. That is until I see her talking to a table full of boys. I couldn't help myself, I stood up from the table and made my way to her. She gave me a questioning look as I stood near her. The table was male wolves. I made sure they knew what pack I was from by showing my dominance over their wolves. Most of them averted their eyes from me.

"You good?" I asked her.

She took her time answering as she was studying my face in question. She slowly nodded her head and said, "Yeah...I'm fine. The boys here were inviting me to a party."

I looked at the table and raised my brow, "A Party?"

One of the boys nodded, "Yeah a party...a-and you're invited of course."

I turn to Ayla and ask, "You wanna go?"

She smiled and nodded her head excitedly, "Yes! This will be my first High School party!"

I looked back at the boys and say, "I guess we're coming then."

The boy nodded his head and yet still have not met my eyes. That's right you little shit. You don't go near her without coming to me first.

"C-cool, I guess we'll see you then." The boy said hesitantly.

I just grunted. I walked away back to my own table. I looked back over my shoulder and made sure Ayla was following, which she was.

When we sat down, I got my lunch out of my bag and started eating. I looked up and Ayla was just sitting there staring at me with her brow raised.

"What was that about?" She asked.

I shrugged my shoulders, "What was what about?"

She rolled her eyes, "Don't play games with me. You know what I mean! Why did you get all...Alpha on them?"

I stopped chewing and thought about it. Why did I get all Alpha on them? I swallowed my food and raised my gaze back to her's.

"I'm possessive."

Ayla crossed her arms and raised her head in defiance, "I'm not an object Solo." Solo A nickname she has found for me.

I could see she was a little annoyed with me right now. And for some reason, I couldn't have that. I leaned in closer. Her eyes widened slightly and she tensed. I looked her in the eye and said bluntly, "I don't like it when boys talk to you like that. I know what they're like. I know exactly what their thinking or what their intentions are when they talk to you. And let me tell you, it isn't pure. Possessive wasn't the right word to use. I am extremely protective of you Ayla. If I can prevent disaster happening to you...I'm going to make sure it doesn't happen. So know this...I will always be here for you, whether you want me to or not."

AYLA

I will always be here for you....

That was what Solomon said to me all those years ago. My heart ached because even though, as hopeless as it is, a part of me will always believe it. Even after he treated me crappy.

I walk up the stairs and into my room. Milo was there reading one of is books with the lamp on beside him. This book was about stars. I smiled. He was as obsessive as I was of stars.

He looks up from his book and smiles when he sees me, "Hey Ma."

I sat next to him and kissed his head, "Hey baba, what you readin?"

He looks down at the book and says, "Me and Lamp were reading about stars. Can we go stargazing one day?" He asks Hopefully.

I nodded my head and ran my fingers through his hair, "Yeah Baba, you will go star gazing. Maybe you and your father can."

Milo looks at me questioningly, "What do you mean Ma? I thought my Pa couldn't see me."

I took a deep breath. I grabbed a hold of Milo's shoulders and turned him towards me.
"Milo I need to tell you something."

"What is it Ma?"

I stare at him and say, "Milo, this is very important. Do you understand me? And you can't say anything to anyone. Okay?"

He nods his head seriously.

"You are going to escape here, okay? You are leaving tomorrow to go see your father. And you won't come back here, ever."

Milo frowned, "What? Why? What do you mean escape? We're not trapped. And what about Old Ken? Is he going to come to?"

I felt the tear prickle my eyes.  shook my head, "Old Ken is NOT coming with you. Milo, you have to know, we have been trapped here. This place is not a good place. It is not your home."

Milo stood up with his hands fisted, "You're making this up! We aren't trapped! This is our home."

The tears filled my eyes like a cup. I shook my head again, "No Milo no. I came here when you were still in my belly. Old Ken captured me. he has kept us here as prisoners like from your storybooks. Old Ken is the bad man, Milo! Your father is the good man."

All of this information was so overwhelming for Milo. Everything he had ever known was a lie.
"If Pa is the good man, then why isn't he here saving us! This is not like my storybooks!"

"Because your Pa doesn't know where we are. We are lost and he can't find us. But he can find YOU. don't you want to see your Pa?"

Milo began to cry, "You lied to me! You said that this was my home! You're a liar Ma! You're a liar!" He screamed.

I cried and nodded my head, "I am a liar baba. But I did it to protect you. I couldn't let Old Ken hurt you."

Milo buried his head in my chest and cried, "I'm scared!"

I hold him tightly and say, "I know Baba, I know. But you have to know that the world is a beautiful place," He lifted his tear stricken face to me. I cup his small face and wipe his tears away, "You will go on so many adventures, Milo. You will discover the world. And you can look at as many stars as you want. You are going to have friends. You are going to be able to play outside whenever you want."

his eyes widened in shock, "I can play on the grass whenever I want?"

I nodded my head and smiled, "Yup. And you will have your Pa and his family to care for you."

Milo suddenly frowned and said, "But you're my family Ma. Aren't you coming with me?"

I sighed and shook my head, "Not this time baba. I will escape another time. This time it has to only be you."

Milo grabbed a hold of my shirt, "But I'm scared! I don't want to go witout you! You have to help me!"

"I will tell you exactly what to do Milo. My voice will be in your head every step of the way. You are going to be okay."

Milo sniffled and asked, "So what do I do then?"

SOLOMON

I was sitting in the library area, drinking my coffee and obviously reading a book. The fire was roaring which was nice. As I sipped my coffee my peace was broken when I saw Kendrick walk in. I groaned in annoyance. I try to ignore him. But that was hard when he started to talk.

"I have a few questions, Soul."

While looking at my book  sighed and said, "Like I've said many times...to you I am Solomon."

"Right...Solomon. I was curious. My daughter has been passed over to most of the men in your family because all of them have found their mates...do you not have a mate?"

I snapped my book shut. This bastard is getting on my nerves, "My mate doesn't want me. Okay? So Please, do me a favour Kendrick...and fuck off."

Kendrick swallowed and looked a little nervous. He nodded his head and stood up to leave.

"Why'd he have to bring up Ayla." I mumbled under my breath. However, seeming as Kendick had frozen in his place, I'd say he heard me.

He slowly turned around, his eyes slightly wider, skin slightly paler, "What'd you just say?"

I tilted my head, "What do you mean?"

"The name, you just said."

"Ayla," I growled angrily.

"Who is she?"

I stood up and snarled, "Why do you need to know."

" I would like to know the mate that didn't want you. You are marrying my daughter after all. Call it a father's curiosity."

"Ayla is my mate. She left me five years ago. I went looking for her. But I always came back empty handed. She's probably married to another wolf and already has a couple of pups."

Then I heard him whisper to himself, "Or just one pup."
