Chapter 5: Soldier

Izuku stood nervously outside Nezu's office.

Nezu was the smartest being on earth, and Izuku knew exactly why he had been called here.

He knocked hesitantly on the door.

  "Come in!"

To anyone else the voice sounded kind, welcoming. Izuku knew better. That was the voice of a calculating tactician.

Izuku opened the door, stepping into the small office.

"Ah, Mr Midoriya! Welcome! Please, sit down. Would you like some tea?"

Izuku shook his head, politely declining.

"Very well, let us get down to business. Midoriya, what is your quirk? What does it do?" The bear like creature asked.

  Izuku sighed, slumping in defeat.

"I call it the System. Basically, I'm like a videogame character, with stats, skills and upgrades. The system, a screen I can see and interact with, gives me quests and rewards from time to time. I've been doing quests and upgrading myself since I was 4, mainly Strength and Intelligence, because school automatically gives me a few points for doing work."

Nezu smiled, a twinkle in his eye.

"I'm curious, how is your intelligence Increased? What does upgrading it do? What rewards are you given for completing these quests?" He asked.

"Well my base intelligence is about 400, but with certain items equipped I can boost it to 750. 400 points into Intelligence is about 200 iq, if the scaling remained the same. Increasing intelligence also increases my mana, which is the energy I use to use skills." Izuku explains.

  Nezu nods intently.

"Rewards can vary. I can get bonus skill points, items, armour, things like that."

  Nezu laughs.

"Thank you. Now if I may ask.. what was that armour you used on the field yesterday?"

It was Izuku's turn to smile, standing from his seat.

"It's my most powerful set of armour. It increases my stats drastically, and gives bonuses to certain skills. It also has two of its own skills embedded in it, Appearance Befitting a Monarch and Aura of Despair. Appearance Befitting a Monarch gives me a big boost in power, but it makes the armour visible to everyone. Aura of despair is like a crushing weight, forcing you to kneel before the Shadow Monarch."

Izuku's armour forms around him again, as he utters the skill's name.

Nezu stares in amazement at the dark armour, the smoky crown and cloak.

Izuku hides his armour again, sitting down.

"Are you still wearing the armour?" Nezu asked.

  Izuku nodded.

"It's just invisible to everyone but my soldiers. I got it through a special part of my main quest, getting a hero costume."

  Nezu's head tilted.

  "Soldiers?"

Izuku turned his head to the right.

  "Igris."

The dark Knight rose from the shadows, his broadsword at his hip. He knelt beside Izuku.

  "My Lord."

"Tell me, how many units are under my control?" Izuku asked.

"You have one commander, which is me. You have one elite Knight, Iron. You have 209 knights, 468 elites, and 392 normal units. You command 1,071 shadows in total."

"Thank you Igris, that is good to know."

The commander if the shadow army returned to his Lord's shadow silently.

  Nezu clapped happily.

"You have greatly intrigued me Midoriya. You should probably get to your first heroics lesson, please send me any other details of your quirk using this number. I will not share it with anyone, although I am incredibly curious." Nezu handed Izuku a slip of paper with a phone number on it.

Izuku stood, nodding to the headmaster.

  "I will, thank you sir."

  All Might was teaching them??!?

Izuku's restless excitement began to rub off on the shadows, making even Igris itch for a fight.

Izuku was the last to exit the hallway, entering gym gamma. His 'hero costume' was a simple black cloak, over a black shirt and trousers. He had the hood pulled up, and the mask design was a simple imitation of his helmet.

"Whoah! Simple but manly! I like it Midoriya!" The redhead exclaimed.

  Izuku smiled bashfully.

"Ah, thanks. It's not that great. I like your's too."

The redhead laughed, introducing himself and clashing his fists together.

"The name's Kirishima! And you're.. Midoriya right?" He asked.

  Izuku nodded.

All Might suddenly appeared, holding two boxes.

"Hello, I am Here!!!" He called.

One he landed, the Hero began the lesson.

"You will be split into teams of two! Half the teams will be heroes, and half of the teams will be villains!! The villains must defend their stronghold, while the heroes must infiltrate the hideout and capture the weapon! Any questions so far?"

Izuku was paired with the bubbly brunette, and they were paired up against Bakugo and Iida.

"It must be fate!" Uraraka said.

  Izuku laughed.

  "Must be.."

The duo stood outside the building, studying the floor plan.

"Man it's hard to memorize all this!!" Uraraka said.

Izuku began to plan a strategy.

"Bakugo will definitely run off on his own, leaving Iida to defend the bomb... He'll come for me, because he'll want answers about my quirk.. answers I'm happy to give."

  Uraraka chimed in.

"If you can handle Bakugo on your own, then I can head right for the bomb!" She suggested.

Izuku smiled "That's a good idea. Yeah, I can handle Bakugo."

  "HEROES, BEGIN!"

Izuku watched Uraraka float up to the top floor, while Izuku entered through the front door.

  "Heeeere Bakugo!! Pspspspsps!!!" Izuku called.

The blonde grenade launched himself around the corner, blasting Izuku full force in the face.

*Shadow Monarch Armour absorbed the flames and smoke, making it stronger*

"Huh? The Monarch armour can level up too???" He said in surprise.

Meanwhile, Bakugo spun around with another blast.

  *The flames have been absorbed.*

  He attacked again.

  *The flames have been absorbed.*

  And again.

  *The flames have been absorbed.*

*Shadow Monarch armour has leveled up!*

Bakugo stared at Izuku, now in fear.

"The hell?? Why aren't you dead??!"

  Izuku grinned.

"You can't kill the master of death."

  All Might was shaking.

*What does he mean the master of death?? What happened to the cameras???*

The cameras around Izuku and Bakugo had gone dark, but All Might could still hear them.

  "Igris." Izuku said.

  Bakugo shouted out in surprise.

"Give me an appearance befitting the Monarch." Izuku said.

Bakugo watched as Izuku was enveloped in black armour, his helmet adorned by a smoky crown.

  "Aura of despair."

Bakugo was forced to his knees, kneeling before the monarch.

  Izuku chuckled.

"Wow, I didn't know you wanted to serve me Bakugo! I'll need to make a new rank though. Below regular.. hm. How about utterly useless?"

Igris threw Bakugo across the hall, slamming the blonde into the wall.

  "D-Deku you piece of-"

Igris grabbed and threw the boy again, angry that he had spoken to his lord like that.

  "Igris, that's enough. Bloodlust."

Izuku watched Bakugo fall to the ground, his body trembling. His eyes were vacant, staring at something only he could see.

Izuku let his armour vanish and walked up the stairs, summoning his shadows back to him.

A few minutes later, and All Might shakily called the heroes victory. The cameras had begun working again, only showing a nearly undamaged hallway and a knocked out Bakugo.
