Chapter 13: Ninja

Izuku sat in 1A, pondering over his internship offers. He hadn't really received any that interested him.

"Who are you going with Uraraka?" Izuku asked at lunch.

"I think in going to go with the martial arts hero, Gunhead!" She replied enthusiastically.

Izuku nodded, returning his attention to lunch.

Aizawa approached their table, tapping Izuku on the shoulder.

"Midoriya, you got a last minute offer from a hero. Their details are all on here, if you want to consider it." He said, placing a folded sheet of paper on the table.

Izuku thanked the tired pro, taking the slip and reading it. His eyes widened slightly.

  "The ninja hero.. Edgeshot?"

  Todoroki looked up.

"The number 4 hero? I heard that Bakugo is going with the offer Best Jeanist, the number 5 hero gave him."

  Izuku nodded.

"I think I'll go with Edgeshot. He rarely sends offers out, so I should take this opportunity."

  Uraraka stared at him.

"But you're more powerful than All Might, why would you need to intern with a hero in the first place?" She asked.

  Izuku laughed.

"I may be powerful, but I still need to learn how to be a good hero, not just a gate clearer. Edgeshot's experience will help me with that."

  The others nodded in understanding.

Izuku looked over to his bespectacled friend.

"Iida, are you okay?" He asked.

Iida's lips made a tight smile.

"I am fine Midoriya. Please do not worry."

Izuku frowned slightly, but didn't push him.

"Who are you interning with Todoroki?" Uraraka asked.

"I will be going with my father. He will be able to teach me to use my fire properly." The boy replied.

After the final bell, Aizawa approached Izuku.

"Midoriya. We've received a call regarding another rogue gate."

Izuku's head snapped up to his teacher.

"Where? How long ago?" He asked.

"An island in Korea. It's called Jeju island, and it was seen forming yesterday by an inhabitant of the island. They had watched the sports festival last week and called us directly. No heroes have gone inside yet, but they are planning a raid on the gate. According to the pictures and energy readings from on site technicians, it's easily an S." Aizawa said.

  Izuku frowned.

"This is bad. If the heroes go inside they will die. Not even the top 20 working together could clear an S gate.." he muttered.

"Would you be willing to go to Korea and aid them?" He asked.

  Izuku nodded.

"Absolutely. In fact, I was thinking about joining Edgeshot for my internship. Could you ask him if he would like to come along and experience a gate? He may need it." Izuku asked.

  Aizawa nodded.

"Most of the top 50 heroes have requested we let you show them the gates. Ever since Nezu informed the hero commission and the heroes of the gates they've been requesting 'training' of sorts. I'm sure Edgeshot will be delighted."

  Izuku sighed.

"Okay. When should I leave?" He asked.

  Aizawa grinned.

"Tomorrow. Everyone else is leaving for their internships tomorrow, so that's when you leave. I'll book you a plane ticket to Korea."

  Izuku laughed.

"There's no need. I'll just ride Kaisel. He's small and fast, so we'll go mainly unnoticed."

Aizawa sighed, nodding and leaving the classroom.

  *Emergency Quest!*

*Clear out the Jeju island Gate before it opens!*

*If you fail to complete this quest the gate will open and the monsters within will destroy Korea.*

  Izuku stared.

  "Clear it.. before it opens??"

  *Time remaining: 30 : 22 : 14*

The next morning Izuku was stood at the train station alongside Aizawa.

"Remember, you're all representing the school, so I want no goofing around." Aizawa said.

A television showing the news caught Izuku's eye.

*The hero Ingenium was attacked last week, but fortunately he is certain to survive through the ordeal. Now, his attacker, the hero killer stain, is still at large, ...*

"Stain.. Hosu.. Iida.. Manual... Of course..." Izuku muttered.

"Tank, take a squadron of knights and guard Iida. Only show yourself if his life is in immediate danger." He whispered.

The shadows slid across the ground, joining the tall boy's own shadow.

Aizawa noticed, but didn't comment on it.

Once the other students left, the pro hero Edgeshot made his presence known.

"So you are Midoriya. I was hoping to teach you some techniques, the way you moved during the festival caught my eye. However, this is an excellent opportunity. Thank you for allowing me to accompany you to Jeju."

Izuku nodded, following Aizawa back to the bus.

"We have 12 hours and 34 minutes until the gate opens, so we should hurry." He said.

Aizawa paused, halfway into the driver's seat.

"Opens..?" He repeated, his eyes wide.

  Izuku nodded.

"The system gave me a new Quest. Clear the gate before it opens, or Korea will be overrun."

Aizawa drove quickly, taking the hero and student to UA and exiting the bus.

"Alright, do you have everything you need?" Aizawa asked.

  Izuku nodded.

  "Kaisel." He said.

The wyvern emerged from Izuku's shadow, startling the number 4 hero.

  Izuku smiled.

"I didn't use my shadows during most of the festival. I asked Igris once to clear out the zero pointers."

The hero nodded, climbing into the wyvern after Izuku.

"Take us to Jeju island Kaisel, full speed!"

Kaisel flapped his wings, launching into the air and flying off of UA grounds, high into the sky.

Edgeshot clung tightly to the speeding wyvern, not out of fear, but necessity. The hero was almost thrown off the winged shadow at the speeds they were travelling.

"By the way Midoriya, what is your Hero name?" Edgeshot asked.

Izuku smiled, his shadows eagerly awaiting their King's chosen title.

  "I'm the Shadow hero, Monarch."
