Chapter Two

3 weeks Later

Jenny and Dean spent the better half "searching" for John rather than finding Sam. And by that, it was more of Dean forcing Jenny to sit in the passenger seat while he drove around so he wouldn't have to deal with Sam's complaints.

"He's your brother, Dean. Not to mention it's your dad we are looking for. Shouldn't Sam help?" Jenny asked, Dean's hands gripping the steering wheel, his jaw clenched tight.

"Who gives a damn, huh? Sam left us to go to Stanford. I mean—" Dean chuckled. "He'd rather be a lawyer than actually help people who are in real danger."

It hadn't been an easy goodbye with Sam, that was for sure. For Jenny, Sam had practically ghosted her a few weeks after he started going to Stanford. It hurt her real bad, too. Someone you've known for so long just up and leaves without a single goodbye. Maybe she should punch him when they meet again.

But for Dean, he was furious with Sam. Leaving this life behind so he could "be normal." Hunters weren't ever going to be normal. It didn't matter when you started, because as soon as you killed your first monster, there truly was no going back. It follows you everywhere, and Sam ignored it so he could be a normal guy. And one thing was for sure... Dean hated normal people.

"Still. It's almost been a month, Dean. It never takes this long for John. You know that." Jenny's eyes had been glued onto Dean for too long, watching every muscle he had twitch with annoys, with nervousness. Maybe with fear.

"I know. But what do you think Sam will do? Drop everything because I asked?" Dean looked at Jenny, his brows knotted together as she shrugged.

"Only one way to find out."

Several hours later

Jenny peeked up through the window, staring into the apartment to see a blonde girl in nothing but panties and a smurf's crop top walking around. Jenny frowned at her attire, questioning if she and Dean should just wait, since she knew how he was.

"What do you see?" Dean whispered, looking around to make sure no one spotted the two.

"Some girl half-naked. I don't see Sa— Oh." Jenny ducked quickly as Dean shoved her to the side, peeking into the glass with a sly grin. "Perv."

"Dammit. There's Sam." Dean turned to look at Jenny, who had her arms crossed, frowning at him. "What?"

"One." She raised a finger in the air. "One comment about whoever that girl is, and I'll punch you to Purgatory."

"Purgatory? Really? C'mon don't be an idiot." Dean scoffed as Jenny frowned again.

"C'mon. Let's not waste our time gawking at women." Jenny moved Dean our of the way, watching as the lights shut off, slowly sliding the window open. Dean clasped his hands together and Kenny frowned, looking at him. "I'm not that short, dude."

Dean shrugged, watching as Jenny huffed, jumping up and sliding into the apartment, rolling and bouncing up onto her feet. There was a slight struggling noise coming from behind her, slowly turning to watch Dean struggle. Jenny slowly pulled out her phone, snapping a photo before Dean finally got inside.

"Thanks for the help." He whispered, most likely glaring at her, although it was too dark to see.

As Jenny spun around, she was suddenly whacked by a fist, falling to the ground. She shook her head from the shock, covering her head as Dean tackled whoever had slapped her down to the ground.

Jenny shot up quickly, wobbling for a moment and gripped into the chair next to her, ready to swing it. She could barely make out the two bodies fighting on the ground, noticing that Dean had pinned Sam to the floor.

"Easy there, Tiger." Dean grinned as Sam stopped squirming, frowning in confusion.

"Dean?!" He yelled, causing his brother to laugh. "You scared the shit outta me! Wait— whose with you?"

"I'm hurt. Really." Jenny frowned as she flipped on the light, Sam's eyes widening even more.

"Jenny?!" Dean got off of Sam, who stood up quickly, towering over the girl a few paces away.

"Hey, Asshat. Thanks for not returning any of my calls... Or emails... Or texts. Or that one bird i sent." Dean frowned, turning to Sam.

"Seriously? You couldn't answer a damn phone call?" The older brother slapped his sibling in the chest, to which Sam scoffed.

"Please, if didn't answer any of yours in the last two years." Jenny frowned as Sam shook his head.

"What are you two doing here?" He asked, Jenny and Dean sharing a look before shrugging.

"Your beer." They answered in unison as footsteps approached, Jenny walking towards Dean as the blonde girl made an appearance, this time wearing very short shorts and the same shirt from before.

"Sam?" She mumbled, rubbing her eyes before they landed on Dean and Jenny. "What—"

"Jess, hey. Uh... Dean, Jennifer .. This is my girlfriend, Jessica." Jenny waved an awkward hello as Dean nodded his head with a smile.

"Wait... brother Dean? You never talked about a Jennifer." Jenny slowly turned to Sam, who smiled awkwardly.

"Once again, deeply hurt." She placed a hand over her heart as Dean pointed at Jessica's shirt.

"I love the Smurfs. You know, I gotta tell you, you are way out of my brothers—"

"Purgatory." Jenny said quietly with a forced smile towards Jessica, who looked at her oddly as Dean clamped his mouth shut.

"I'm... going to go out something on." Jessica began to walk out of the kitchen as Jenny turned to Sam.

"We gotta talk." Jessica paused, turning back to face the trio as Dean turned to the blonde.

"Anyway, I gotta borrow your boyfriend here, talk about some... private family business." Dean smiled, patting his brothers shoulder as Sam shook his head, walking towards Jessica and draped an arm over her.

"No, whatever you want to say... you can say it in front of her." Dean and Jenny side eyed one another, the raven haired girl crossing her arms as she walked over to Sam's fridge, snagging a beer and popping it open.

"Right... Um... Dad hasn't been home in a few days." Dean started as Sam shrugged.

"So? He's working overtime on a Miller Time shift. He'll stumble back in sooner or later." Jenny chuckled, shaking her head as Sam frowned at her. "What?"

"John went on a hunting trip, Sam." Jenny took a sip of the beer as Dean dipped his head down before looking back up at Sam, who's expression hadn't changed.

"He hasn't been home in a few days."

"More like almost a month." Sam's eyes widened at Jenny's comment, Dean turning to look at her.

Sam whispered to Jess before walking towards the front door, Jenny grabbing her beer as Dean and her followed him outside.

"Did he say where he was going?" Sam asked as Dean shook his head.

"If he did, we wouldn't be here right now." Dean muttered as the three headed down the stairs.

"What about you, Jenny? Was this your idea to drag me back into this?" Sam asked as Jenny paused, frowning at the youngest Winchester.

"I thought you could help us." She answered as Sam scoffed.

"I mean, come on. You can't just break in, middle of the night, and expect me to hit the road with you guys." Sam crossed his arms as Dean turned to the two.

"You're not hearing us, Sammy. Dad's missing. I need you to help us find him." Sam shook his head in disbelief, gesturing to Jenny.

"You remember the poltergeist in Amherst? Or the Devil's Gates in Clifton? He was missing then, too. He's always missing, and he's always fine." Sam started to walk back towards his apartment, Jenny grabbing him by the arm.

"I've been with them for the last two years, Sam. John is never gone for this long. We know that better than anyone." Sam looked down at the girl's blazing eyes, frowning as they flickered back and forth. "Are you coming with us, or not?"

"No. I'm not." He answered quickly, shaking Jenny's grip off of his arm. "I told both of you I was done hunting. For good. I'm not going back in the deep end just because dad's been gone longer than usual."

"Come on. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't bad." Dean frowned as Sam scoffed, continuing to follow the two.

"Yeah? When I told Dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45." Jenny clicked her tongue as she turned to Dean, who rolled his eyes.

"Well what was he supposed to do?"

"I was nine years old! He was supposed to say, don't be afraid of the dark."

"God you two just bicker about everything." Jenny walked down the stairs as the two brothers followed after her. Jenny shoved the door to the parking lot open, walking towards the Impala as Dean and Sam continued to talk.

"So why didn't you two go with dad?" Sam asked as Jenny turned to face them.

"We we're working on a voodoo thing in New Orleans." Dean answered, opening the trunk of the Impala and lifted up the spare compartment, showing an arsenal of weapons as Sam quirked a brow.

"He let you guys go on a hunting trip by yourself?" Sam asked as the girl of the trio chuckled.

"Dean's 26. I've been going on my own cases long before I met up with him and John." Jenny smirked as Dean rolled his eyes, pulling out a folder.

"All right, here we go. So Dad was checking out this two-lane blacktop just outside of Jericho, California." Dean handed a photo to Sam, who examined it slowly.

"Some guy named Andrew went completely MIA about a month ago. His car was stranded, no body." Jenny rocked back and forth on her heels, her arms crossed over her chest.

"Maybe he was kidnapped." Sam suggested as the other two shrugged.

"Sure... If the same thing hadn't been happening on the same road for the last twenty years. All guys, too." The raven haired girl said as Sam frowned, Dean taking the article from his brother and putting it back in the folder.

"It started happening more and more, so Dad went to go dig around. That was about three weeks ago. We haven't heard from him since, which is bad enough." Dean shut the Impala's trunk, Sam cleared his throat. "Then... After Jenny got a note from dad the night he left... I got this voicemail last night." Dean pulled out his phone as Sam peered at Jenny suspiciously.

"He gave you a note?"

"Don't question me. He's the one that wrote it." Dean shushed the two as he pressed the voicemail.

"Dean. Whichever of you two hear it first. something big is starting to happen...I need to try and figure out what's going on. It may... Be very careful, Dean. We're all in danger. Keep Jenny safe. I can't risk losing you guys."

"Well look at that, he does have a heart." Jenny joked as Sam and Dean shot her a half-hearted glare, and she smiled innocently.

"All right." Dean cleared his throat, looking at Jenny then turned to Sam. "I slowed the message down, I ran it through a gold wave, took out the hiss, and this is what I got."

He pressed play again. "I can never go home..." Dean presses stop.

"Never go home." Sam repeated as Jenny hummed.

Dean dropped the recorder, put down the shotgun and shut the trunk, leaning on it.

"You know, in almost two years I've never bothered you, never asked you for a thing." Dean raised a finger in the air, poking Sam in the chest.

Sam looked away and sighed, then looked back at the two. "All right. I'll go. I'll help you find him." Dean and Jenny nodded, though the girl seemed more excited about it than Sam's own brother.

"But I have to get back first thing Monday. Just wait here." Sam turned to go back to the apartment, pausing when Dean spoke up.

"What's first thing Monday?"

"I have this...I have an interview." Sam mumbled

"What, a job interview? Skip it." Dean shrugged it off as Sam glared at him.

"It's a law school interview, and it's my whole future on a plate." Jenny gave Sam a look that had the words "that's not happening." written on her face.

"Law school?" Jenny asked as Dean smirked, and Sam rolled his eyes.

"So we got a deal or not?"
