Chapter Thirty-Three
THEN
7:39 AM
Jenny rested against the window sill in her bedroom, scribbling something down in her journal as the cap of her pen swung back and forth between her teeth.
Bobby was downstairs, the smell of bacon wafting around the house along with what smelled like eggs or pancakes.
There was a rumbling noise coming from outside, the cap of the pen dropping from Jenny's mouth as she slammed her book shut, running out of her room. She thundered down the stairs, whipping past Bobby and nearly caused him to drop a plate of pancakes as she flung the front door open.
Leo hopped out of his truck, a beaming grin appearing on Jenny's face as she slipped on her shoes, running out of the house. Leo slammed the door shut, then proceeded to catch Jenny into a tight hug as she laughed with glee, kissing his face all over.
"Where the hell have you been? It's been a month!" She smiled as Leo let go of her, his grin as wide as hers.
"Sorry about not saying anything. My ma wanted me to visit. Wasn't expecting to stay as long as I did. But, I'm here now." Leo smiled, pulling Jenny into a kiss, the woman still smiling as they rocked back and forth.
"Why don't you take it to a room?" Jenny turned around quickly to see Bobby holding a fork, frowning at Leo.
"Hey, Mr. Singer." Leo waved as the older man shot him a glare before walking back into the house. The couple chuckled softly before sharing another kiss, walking into Bobby and Jenny's home.

Jenny snorted as her eyes popped open, glaring as a light beamed in her face. She hummed quietly at the dream, shaking her head. Jenny looked around in confusion, groaning at the throbbing headache that was already forming in the back of her head.
A man tapped on the table. "Rise and shine, drunk. It's 8 am."
Jenny slowly sat up. "8 am? Where the hell am I?" She frowned, rubbing her eyes.
"Louis' Tap House." The man answered. Jenny blinked slowly, the world still spinning as she tried to focus on the guy's name tag.
"Hey... uh— Jenny- huh that's my name."
"It's Jimmy." Jenny hiccuped, looking at the brown eyes man, nodding.
"Right. Jimmy... Um— can you tell me where...." She looked down at her arm, rolling her sleeve up to see poor handwriting on her arm. "That motel is?" She raised her arm to Jimmy, who squinted at her arm.
"It's... Just down the street." He frowned as she nodded, standing up. She wobbled, Jimmy holding his arms out to help. Jenny swatted him away, continuing to wobble as she walked out of the bar.
Jenny covered her eyes as she walked down the street to the motel, doing her best at attempting to remember what she had done last night. She didn't remember getting so drunk. She couldn't remember anything, to be honest.
Jenny slammed into the motel room, hearing the quiet clicks of guns cocking as footsteps rang in her ears. Jenny rested against the door, which then started sliding and she fell forward onto Dean, knocking him to the ground.
"Housekeeping!" Jenny spoke in a high pitched voice, Dean looking down at her in confusion.
"Jen— where the hell have you been?" Jenny's eyes widened as she rolled off of Dean, Sam staring at them with a frown. She sat up quickly, holding her head as the dream — memory — came flushing back into her head.
"I told you guys..." She hiccuped again. "I said I was going to get drunk."
"Yeah. Last week." Sam set his gun down as Jenny nodded.
"Right. I never specified when I was getting drunk."
"You left at one in the morning!" Dean argued as the two stood up, Jenny shut the door, leaning against it again.
"And i'd do it again for a good whiskey." Jenny slurred her words, stumbling over to the closet. She opened it up, frowning in confusion. "Where's the bathroom?"
Dean rolled his eyes, grabbing Jenny by the shoulders and guiding her to the bathroom. He shut the door, turning back to his brother.
After a minute or so, Jenny walked back out, looking less hung over. "Alright. So, do we have a case? I'm hoping it's a ghost because honestly those are a lot easier to deal with—"
"Dad called." Sam interrupted. Jenny's eyes widened as her hands froze mid-air.
"What?"
"He gave us a list of names." Dean answered as Jenny turned to him.
"Names? Like... For a case? Are we going on a case with him?" Jenny's eyes kept flickering between the quiet brothers. "Can one of you say something?"
"What was really in that note, Jenny?" Jenny's heart dropped at the look on their faces. That sobered her up pretty fast.
"Dean—"
"What was in the note, Jennifer?" He repeated, Jenny stepping back slightly. She gulped
, looking to Sam, then to Dean again.
She stayed silent for a moment. "The demon that killed your mom... And my grandmother." Sam and Dean's expressions softened and they gave each other a look, turning back to Jenny.
"Your grandma? Didn't even know she was— y'know.." Dean trailed off as Jenny tilted her head down.
"Yeah well... For a few years... I lived with Bobby after my parents died. Then, I found out my grandma was alive and went to live with her— for a year."
"Just a year?" Sam frowned as the woman nodded.
"One night... I heard her screaming. I smelled smoke and thought she had hurt herself. And when I ran into her bedroom... She was on the ceiling. Her stomach was soaked in blood. And when she was engulfed in flames... John was there."
Dean and Sam's eyes widened even more. "What?!" They spoke in unison as Jenny squinted her eyes shut. "When was this?"
"A week before I met you guys at Bobby's..." Dean frowned in disbelief, turning to Sam then back to Jenny.
"Why didn't you tell us?" Sam asked, Jenny running a hand through her hair.
"John promised me to not tell you guys. He wanted you two to think that the demon would never come back— So you guys wouldn't worry." Dean shook his head.
"And you listened?"
"If it kept you guys from worrying about the damn man, then yeah!" She argued, brushing past the two. She picked up her duffel bag, shoving a pair of her shoes into it.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm packing for the damn case. Unless I'm suddenly unneeded because I kept a secret?" Sam and Dean once again shared a look, the two sighing in unison as they grabbed their bags.

The car ride had been awkwardly quiet for the most part, Jenny sitting in the back, her volume turned all the way down as she played Tetris with a desolate expression.
Dean frequently looked through the rear view mirror at Jenny as Sam drove, the feeling of anger dissipating every time he did. Of course he'd be angry at her for not telling him the truth. But then again, he's never been completely honest with her.
But it's not like he was keeping a secret like that from her.
But he can't be mad at her forever. He couldn't bare to see Jennifer Price emotionally hurt. Because then it hurt him. Even when she's physically hurt, it kills him a little.
"Three different couples. All went missing." Dean started, finally breaking the silence.
"And they're all from different towns? Different states?" Sam questioned, was Dean nodded in confirmation.
"That's right. You got Washington, New York, Colorado. Each couple took a road trip cross-country. None of them arrived at their destination, and none of them were ever heard from again."
"Well, it's a big country, Dean. They could've disappeared anywhere." Sam shrugged. Dean waved a finger in the air, a smug look on his face.
"Yeah, could've. But each one's route took 'em to the same part of Indiana. Always on the second week of April. One year after another after another."
"This is the second week of April." Sam stated the obvious, Dean nodding slowly as Jenny finally pitched her voice in.
"So, John is sending us to Indiana to go hunting for something before another couple vanishes?" She asked. Dean turned to look at her rather than through the rear view mirror, nodding.
"Yahtzee. Can you imagine putting together a pattern like this? All the different obits Dad had to go through? The man's a master." Sam gave Dena an annoyed look, pulling over into the side of the road. "What are you doing?"
"We're not going to Indiana." Gaining Jenny's attention, she paused her game of Tetris, looking up.
"We're not?" Jenny and Dean asked in unison as Sam shook his head.
"No. We're going to California. Dad called from a payphone. Sacramento area code."
"Sam•
"Dean, if this demon killed Mom and Jess— and Jenny's grandma, and Dad's closing in, we've gotta be there. We've gotta help."
"John said he doesn't want our help." Jenny frowned, Sam looking over at her, shrugging.
"I don't care."
"He's given us an order." Dean's voice became more stern.
"I don't care." Sam said firmly, shutting the car off. "We don't always have to do what he says."
"Sam, Dad is asking us to work jobs, to save lives, it's important."
"Alright, I understand, believe me, I understand. But I'm talking one week here, man, to get answers. To get revenge."
"Alright, look, I know how you feel."
"Do you?" Sam's tone caused both Jenny and Dean to look at him, shocked, as he stared at his older brother. "How old were you when Mom died? Four? Jess died six months ago. How the hell would you know how I feel?"
"Well, if you acted like you're mourning—" Sam shot Jenny a nasty glare, to which she clamped her mouth shut for a moment. "How about me, hm? I mean, I may have not known my grandmother as long as you knew Jessica, but I was still young, and she was the last family I had, Sam. You two still have each other."
Sam stayed quiet as Dean looked between the two before he spoke. "Dad said it wasn't safe. For any of us. I mean, he obviously knows something that we don't, so if he says to stay away, we stay away." Dean crossed his arms, Jenny shutting her phone to listen to what everyone had to say.
"I don't understand the blind faith you have in the man. I mean, it's like you don't even question him." Sam flailed his arms around as if it would get his point across. But to Dean, it hadn't.
"Yeah, it's called being a good son!" Dean yelled as Jenny's eyes widened at him. Sam, visibly angry, got out of the car. Jenny and Dean followed quickly after, seeing Sam unloading his things from the trunk. "You're a selfish bastard, you know that? You just do whatever you want. Don't care what anybody thinks." Dean continued as Sam slammed the trunk shut.
"Guys come on—"
"That's what you really think?" Sam talked over, staring down his brother. Dean nodded, brows raised. "Well, then this selfish bastard is going to California." Sam swung his backpack over his shoulder and started walking away. Jenny's eyes widened in bewilderment.
"You can't be serious, Sam." Jenny frowned as she crossed her arms. "Sam, come on—"
"I am serious."
"It's the middle of the night!" Sam shrugged, turned around and started to walk away as Jenny's breath hitched with nerves. "Hey, I'm taking off, I will leave your ass, you hear me?" Dean yelled as Sam stopped, turning around to the two.
"That's what I want you to do." The two brothers stared at each other for a few seconds, waiting. Jenny looked between the two, Dean turning to her.
"Back me up on this, Jen." She looked at Sam, who gave her an unsure look as she shook her head.
"John— John said not to follow him." She stammered as a Dean turned back to his brother.
"Goodbye, Sam." He walked around the car and got into the drivers seat, waiting for Jenny, who was staring at Sam.
"I'm sorry, Sam. But—" Sam shook his head, turning around and walked down the road. Jenny clenched her jaw, shaking her head. "Why can't you just listen?!" She yelled, throwing the car door opened and got into the passenger seat next to Dean.
Dean started the car up quickly, driving off.
"He's selfish, right? Doing this instead of listening to Dad?" Dean asked as Jenny stared at her shoes, quiet. "Jen?"
She looked over at him. "Well... It doesn't really matter now, does it? Sam is, once again doing things in his own. So now that leaves us with two things." Dean looked at Jenny for a moment, then turned back to the road.
"What?"
"Well, for one. It's just me and you again. And two... We have a case to solve."
Jenny and Dean are alone now 👀 wonder what would happen with this information 👀👀
