Chapter 1 - Sam

EDITED! I combined Chapter 1, 2 and 3.

The ship shook, making them all fall against the railings that surrounded the console platform. The young girl and leader of the group took a breath in before running towards the console unit and grabbing onto it. She examined all the buttons, trying to find one that might possibly help them in this situation.

“It seems the engine is giving us problems, young mistress.” Owen, one of her Ood companions told her. The young girl didn’t respond in any way, merely examined the console unit closely in search of something that looks promising.

“I will go check.” Allen, one her Silents companions said in the Silent’s natural hissing voice. He turned around and walked up the stairs and down the corridor. The young girl started pressing buttons, looking as if it was at random but it wasn’t. She knew exactly what to do… sort of.

“The pressure is rising, young mistress.” Simon told her. Simon was another Ood, another companion of the young girl. Owen, Simon and Vincent were the three Ood, Owen being the odd Ood with his translator attached from his tentacles. The other companions of the young girl would be Allen, Roni and Toby. Three Silents. Their names weren’t their birth names, of course, since the Ood’s names were unpronounceable and the Silents had no names. The ship suddenly shook to one side, more force than any other previous shakings. The young girl was send flying, as well as the three Ood who were in the room. The Ood managed to grab onto the railings, while the young girl could only grab onto the doors. The doors opened and she was clawing onto the door handle, now flying outside in space.

“Young mistress!” Owen yelled through his translator, not sounding like a yell at all.

“I told you to call me Sam!” The young girl now identified as ‘Sam’ yelled, sounding a bit distant from flying outside in space. The ship then flew in the opposite direction. The Ood slid to the other side on their backsides, while Sam flew inwards, closing the doors in the process and flew right into the console unit.

“I do not enjoy being thrown around.” Vincent said telepathically, frustrated. Sam chuckled slightly at his slowly rising figure. Vincent is the only one of the three Ood who doesn’t use formality. The ship shook again, making them fly. Sam grabbed onto a lever and it was pulled black as she flew. It all went silent as they fell onto the console floor. Whatever Sam pulled managed to ease the ship.

“Um…okay.” Sam said slowly as she rose to her feet, unsteady but ready for another shook.

“It seems the engine overheated.” Allen said once he returned through the door that led to the corridor.

“Over heated? From what? We haven’t been travelling recently. And where’s Roni and Toby?” Sam asked, suddenly realizing the lack of two companions.

“I don’t know what caused the overheating. And as far as I know, Roni and Toby were in the library.” Allen said, not sounding like a Silent at all with the words he spoke. Then again, the Ood and the Silents didn’t sound like their race at all. Sam was just glad that the two races got along. The Silents even made a type of ‘treaty’ with the Ood, allowing them to communicate with them telepathically. The Silents have changed from what they were before. They were only ‘evil’ because of a misunderstood mission, you could say. But now they were a great ally. They even took down their façade of letting people forget their existence. They had left the Earth and everyone can remember them. Sam recruited them not long after she recruited the three Ood. They were recruited by Sam to be her companions. Sam is a Time Lord, because Time Lady sounds like she should be disciplined and you know…lady like. She had been hiding on the Planet Saxlama, the planet of storage and she only recently popped up. No information goes to Saxlama, and with her not noticing how fast times flies by, she had completely missed the fall of Gallifrey and all the rest of the terrible things that happened. Luckily, she found the 6 she now travels with and made a special type of bond with them. They each have a small white dot on their wrist, which symbolises their fate bond. Whatever happens to the one, happens to the others. It is the ultimate binder that can never be removed, no matter how much you want to. This binder is the strongest bond made in the universe. Fate bond, ultimate binder. It goes by a few and many names, but not many people know about it. It’s main name is simple the ‘universal bond’, and it’s so strong that a Time Lord’s regeneration can also be send through the bond.

“Maybe we should stop somewhere and check the TARDIS, just for in case. I don’t like books falling onto my face.” Toby said once he and Roni entered the room. Toby had a slightly red mark on the right side of his face, probably from a falling book. Sam agreed and they all went to their side of the console unit. This TARDIS was designed for 7 pilots, not like the old TARDIS with 6. It was one of the newer generations, the reason it requires 7. They all started on their work, setting coordinates for Titan, the biggest moon around Saturn. It was a pit-stop for spaceships and rockets. They could examine the TARDIS there thoroughly with tools provided. However, the coordinates suddenly changed on their own.

“Wha-? What’s happening?” Simon frowned as he examined the rapid changing coordinates. Then suddenly, the console unit let out blue sparks, sending them all flying against the railings.

“What’s happening?” Roni questioned as he tried to doge the incoming blue sparks. The ship then went still. Simon went over to the console and started typing away at the normal black keyboard. The inside of the console room was black and white, a normal 21st modern theme. Nothing to fancy. He reached up and pulled down the monitor, turning it to the rest of them. It showed where they were. It looked like a rundown ship by the looks of it. There were some faces, and they were staring at the monitor. They could see the TARDIS? But how? Sam thought worriedly. This TARDIS had a fully functional chameleon circuit, so it disguised itself to fit into the environment, plus it allowed anyone who looked at it to think nothing of it and ignore it. Somewhat like the previous Silents. You forget about it once you look away. So how could these people be staring right at the TARDIS?

“It seems the TARDIS has disguised itself as a black 1980’s police box.” Simon explained with uncertainty.

“Why?” Sam questioned, disbelief still clear in her mind.

“It seems the TARDIS located another TARDIS, but the other one’s chameleon circuit is broken and is now stuck looking like a police box.” He explained to the rest of them. Sam examined the faces. Four humans and a Silurian.

“What should we do, mistress?” Owen asked Sam. She hummed in thought as she examined the faces, looking for some familiarity. None.

“Let’s see what they do first.” Sam suggested. On the monitor is showed one of the humans walking towards the TARDIS. This man wore a black tweed jacket with elbow patches with a white button up shirt underneath. He had suspenders on as well with black trousers and black, ankle-high boots. The thing that stood out the most was his dark maroon bowtie with white spots on it. His hair was a dark brown which was styled to his right. He stood to the door and knocked before moving backwards again.

“Hello! Someone in there?” He called out, examining the TARDIS door by moving his head side to side. Sam turned to the rest of her ‘crew’.

“I don’t think someone would just walk up to a police box which appeared out of nowhere.” She told them and they nodded, agreeing with her assumption.

“Um, hello! Is there someone in there?” He asked again, this time putting his ear against the door.

“What on Earth is he doing?” Sam asked, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.

“We’re actually on Demons Run, mistress.” Owen said, correcting Sam on when she said ‘on Earth’.

“Oh! So there is someone in there! And what’s that? An Ood?” The strange man exclaimed, pressing his ear, if possible, even closer to the door.

“He has a keen ear.”  Roni remarked.

“What’s that? I never heard that voice before.” Sam turned to the Silent and whispered so that the bowtie-wearing man wouldn’t hear her.

“It seems this is before the entire peace treaty and façade fall thing.” The Silent nodded, agreeing.

“Um, hello! We already know you’re there so why don’t you just come out?” Sam rolled her eyes, slightly annoyed.

“We don’t need to if we don’t want to.” The monitor showed the man looking down for a split second before looking up again.

“Um, yes, I guess you can decide what you want to do. But I recommend coming out.” He said with nod.

“And why would we take you up on your recommendation?” Toby said, scoffing.

“Well from just standing out here I can feel the heat radiating.” He told them, Sam slightly furrowed her eyebrows. Sparks then buzzed and they all turned to see blue sparks erupting from the console once more, now at a more furious pace.

“Uh oh…” Then the console exploded into a large, blue flame. All 7 aliens ran towards the door. Sam snapped her fingers and the doors opened immediately, hitting the strange man in the face and letting him fall to the ground. Another explosion erupted, the force impacting on the 7’s backs, sending them flying towards the ground outside. Sam rolled onto her back and snapped her fingers, the door closing, keeping the flames locked away inside. She sighed a breath of relief and let her head hit the hard concrete floor.

“It seems the TARDIS blew up, mistress.” Owen told her once he was on his feet.

“I can see that…” She slowly said, keeping herself calm. The Ood had a small habit of stating the obvious.

“I did say the engine was overheating.” Allen said in their natural hissing voice while rising to his feet.

“And I told you that we haven’t been travelling recently, so how can it overheat?” Sam threw back at him. All the Silents and Ood were back on their feet, looking down at Sam who was still lying on the ground.

“Maybe something got inside.” Vincent said, hissing as he grinded his teeth together.

“Like?” Sam question, rolling her eyes. She looked over to Vincent who just turned away, not knowing what to say.

“Maybe those creepy, awful cyber bugs?” Simon suggested and Sam scoffed.

“Not likely. The scanners were made specifically to track cyber tech.” She said and looked for more suggestions.

“Maybe they upgraded to the point of invisibility?” Roni said.

“To many maybes…” Sam said and threw her head back against the hard concrete floor. She tilted her head so that she was looking at the rest of the room upside down. She saw the confused faces of the humans and Silurian.

“Oh, hello! I’m Sam!” Sam yelled with a bright smile and closed eyes before turning serious and looking at the TARDIS again. She held out her arms and Vincent and Allen helped her up. She then removed some of the concrete dust from her long chocolate coloured hair before walking over to the TARDIS. She was stopped by Roni stepping in front of her.

“You can’t be serious. That’s dangerous. You’ll surely die.” Roni told her, making her frown.

“Watch me.” She tried to sidestep him but she was suddenly swung over a shoulder. She looked down the back and realized it was one of the Silents, because it was a suit.

“Put me down.” She simply ordered.

“I think not.” Allen told her and she sighed.

“Alright, what do you think we should do?” Sam questioned him with a smirk. Allen then started moving towards the doors with Sam on his shoulder and opened the doors slightly to peek inside before closing it.

“The TARDIS will heal itself. We just need to waste time now.” Sam then smiled to herself as she was sat down onto her feet.

“Well then, let’s go waste time.” She said with a smirk and turned around to face the other beings.

“Why are you here?” Her head snapped to the side of her TARDIS where the bowtie man stood, the same place the door hit him.

“Didn’t you see? We crash landed it seems.” She said and he took slow steps towards her, looking a little furious. Sam examined them all thoroughly. She hadn’t noticed It before, but they all carried sad expressions. The 4 humans were the bowtie man, a ginger girl in white, a Roman, and another girl who looked like a maid. The Silurian was wearing a formal dress. Bowtie man had tears in his eyes as did the Roman, but certainly not as much as the ginger girl whose face was complete covered in tears. Another thing she noticed was that the Roman, ginger girl and bowtie man had made three lines on their arms by a black marker they seemingly carried around.

“No. You just suddenly appeared in the middle of Demons Run, right after they took Melody! With three Silents!” He yelled at her, tears roaming as he took a step towards her, but Vincent pushed him back away from Sam.

“Melody?” Sam mumbled to herself, no one hearing the silent repeat.

“Look I’m sorry. It seems we crash landed at a terrible time. I didn’t know we were going to end up in the middle of Demons Run and I didn’t know we were going to end up at some abduction site. It wasn’t even in our control to where we go. I have no idea who this ‘Melody’ is and is it wrong to have Silents as companions? I though they got their rights back after the-.” Sam started but was suddenly cut off as Allen whispered to her.

“To early.” He said before moving away. Sam nodded and continued.

“Sorry. I guess that can be considered a problem if it’s this early. What I’m concerned about is who here has the other TARDIS?” Sam said, staring at each of the faces. All of them looked hesitantly to the bowtie man. Sam looked back at him.

“Good. You going to tell me who you are?” Sam asked, furious with the entire situation. She wasn’t normally like this.

“I’m the Doctor.” He introduced himself and Sam’s eyes shot wide in realization. She looked at the three Silents out of the corner of her eye. Toby seemed uncomfortable, staring at the ginger girl. Allen was looking at the doors in wait of something. Roni was staring at the Doctor with an indifferent expression. Her mind suddenly clicked the last component in place. They were on Demons Run. Sam nodded.

“Alright, Doctor. We are stranded here until the TARDIS is fixed. We won’t mingle in your problems any more. We’re making it worse, I know that. So we’ll just leave. I’m sure that if you want to question me after your situation has been resolved, you’ll know how to find me.” Sam said with a nod before turning to her companions.

“Let’s go.” She announced and walked to the big double doors which were slightly a jar. Vincent forced them open and they all stepped through. Sam stared down the two corridors, deciding which way to go.

“This way.” She said, turning left. Her companions followed.

“Do we have a destination, mistress?” Owen questioned Sam.

“Not really.” She said back before taking a sharp turn and stopping suddenly and quietly. There, down the hall, stood three headless monks. The monks turned to the group. They started to make their way over but Allen quickly stood in front of Sam and attacked the three monks with lightening from his fingers. The monks fell to the ground with an agonizing grunt. Vincent pulled Sam by the shoulder and they all went down the opposite hall.

“Why would headless monks be here?” Sam wondered out loud.

“Why wouldn’t they? This is Demons Run.” Toby informed her. They took another corner and stopped once more. But this time by a door. A large circular door made out of metal.

“The probably got something protected in there.” Sam said, looking over to Vincent. He looked back at her and then at the door. His eyes then turned redder as he walked over to the door. He placed his hands between the two sides of the door and started pushing it open. He had an amazing strength that could beat Sam and the other 5 companions all in all together. When the door was open at a size where one could get through, Sam made her way over to it. She slid through, followed by her companions. It was a dark circular room. No light anywhere except for the small amount that seeped through the doors. Owen stood to the front and held up his translator and lit it. It didn’t make much help but it did do something. It showed a vague figure in the middle of the room. Sam walked over to it, cautiously. When she was right in front of it, she signalled Owen to come stand next to her. As he neared her the figure revealed itself more. It was a gun. It looked like a human 50 cal sniper rifle. But it wasn’t. It was so much more. If you were to open it up, you’d find an unbelievable amount of alien tech inside. It’s maximum range is 80 km of shot. That’s how good the riffle was. It doesn’t have normal bullets, of course. It had a type of materialized laser, stronger than any element found on Earth. Not only that, but the ammunition was unlimited. It took 200 years to create this gun, and who knows how long to collect the materials and work it all out. And now, the blue prints and everything burned with Gallifrey. Which is an unbelievably good thing. This is the first and last Time-Riffle. It’s speed was so fast they say it defied time in the space it flew. But that’s Time Lords for you. This Time-Riffle you see, was made for one person specifically. That’s how Sam recognized it. It was made to fit her hands, her weight, her eye. She was chosen for she is Soldier. The one always leading the front lines. Soldier…otherwise known as Sam.

“How’d they get this…?” Sam wondered out loud as she picked it up. If she would place it on the ground and hold it up, it would reach to her mid-waist.

“This is the Time-Riffle you told us about?” Roni questioned. Sam nodded.

“Yeah…it was in the catacombs of Gallifrey, so no one could’ve founded it. And because it’s locked away here, I assume the monks or whoever don’t know how to use it.” Sam spoke, but a bit too distant for the companions’ liking. She trailed her finger along the body of her riffle. It had one glowing blue stripe down the entire thing, making it look so much futuristic.

“How’d you get here…” Sam trailed off as she was hypnotized by her old weapon. It was so, so long ago…

Soldier was 75 years old, still a kid studying at the Time Lord Academy. Soldier was a secluded kid, always kept away from anyone by the council. You know what they say. Emotions will tie someone down. The only emotion Soldier was allowed was love for Gallifrey and the will to protect it. As soon as Soldier was born all those years ago, she was stolen by the council. She was raised in secrecy for 8 years until she had to go to the Academy. By now her parents would never know that she was their daughter. Especially because a Time Lord’s appearance  doesn’t take after their parents. She hadn’t even received a name when she was taken. They gave her the name Soldier, because that is what they were going to turn her into. A Soldier. The Ultimate Soldier. Her parents’ titles had been Builder and Fox, so she received strength, stealth and ability from her parents. She was perfect for the job. When she looked Untempered Schism, she was emotionless. But she spoke.

“Protecting Gallifrey is my only will.” Is all that she spoke before walking away. The council had taken away her childhood and her emotions. They were despicable. In the mornings she was at the Academy. After Academy had ended she will have physical and intellectual training until 8PM. It went on like this for 67 years before something changed in her schedule. This was when she was 75 years old. She was called in by the council. She thought she would have to give a report on progress like she normally does. How wrong she was.

“Ah, Soldier, please, stand before us.” Lord President said and she did so. The Lord President was the leader of the council, and the council rules Gallifrey. Lord President rules Gallifrey practically.

“Now Soldier, we have been working for more than 200 years on this and we made it specifically for you.” Lord President started as he stepped towards her, a large golden box in hand.

“It took forever to make, but it’s finally done. This is yours.” He said, handing her the golden box. Soldier hesitantly opened it and was surprised at the newly made black and blue riffle.

“It is yours. Use it well. It is the only one of its kind and you’ll never find something stronger. Even a TARDIS doesn’t stand a chance. It was made for you to use in battle to protect Gallifrey.”  Soldier stared at the riffle, cancelling all other thoughts and voices out as she trailed her finger along the body of the riffle. She was hypnotised by it already…

Sam closed her eyes and took a deep breath before turning to her companions. Her eyes were still closed as she raised her arms out before her, the riffle still in them. Allen wasted no hesitation in picking it up from her arms. She opened her eyes, feeling calm now.

“It can’t stay here, but I can’t keep it. I trust your judgement.” She said as she exited the room, the others following. Her companions knew how much its hurting Sam to just see that riffle. Her memories that she had hidden away suddenly sprung up, the reason for her walking so distantly. They walked around the entire Demons Run, facing headless monks occasionally. Once they finally made it back to the room they arrived from, it had been 2 hours. The room was empty, the second TARDIS gone.

“The desktop is going to look completely different.” Roni told Sam, who just merely nodded. She took steps over to the TARDIS and hesitantly placed her hand on the door. She pushed it open and entered, followed by her companions. She was surprised. Comparing this to her last desktop, which was a modern black and white, this was…incredible. You had to take metal steps up towards the console unit. The console unit was on a metal circular floor with glass railings. Besides the steps towards the door were steps in a spiral, going downwards to underneath the console unit. There was also another pair of stairs going upwards to the corridor and other rooms. The console unit’s main colour was black and all the other buttons had a blue futuristic colour on them. The console unit wasn’t physically attached to the ground, but it was floating, a blue sort of flame under it that levitated it. There weren’t cylinders above the console unit like there usually was, instead there was a roundabout screen that also levitated above the console. At the three railings, the steps dividing them, there  were three cylinders floating above them. They were glass cylinders with a blue floating liquid inside of them. If you were to stand at the door and look at the console unit, behind the unit was an extra circular floor that levitated. On that platform was a crescent moon shaped white couch with a levitating glass coffee table in front of it. Against the walls were long and thin columns, and they were attached to the walls, the floor under the console unit platform, and the half-circular ceiling. All of the columns came to the middle of the ceiling, right above the console unit. These columns were a blue, radiating light. Not even sure if they were in glass or any see-through material. Between the columns were the normal TARDIS circles. These circles each were about the size of a soccer ball. They were all packed up against each other and had a white light in them, just not radiating like all the other blue lights. All in all, it was a futuristic blue and it was all levitating.

“Oh my…” Sam gasped as she stepped inside. The lighting wasn’t as bright as her previous one, making it all so much more mysterious looking.

“Now that is what I call a TARDIS.” Vincent remarked as they entered. Sam let her hand slid over all the controls, the entire unit go in a slow and steady up-and-down motion. When Sam reached behind the unit she went to the extra floating platform. She waited until the platform was level with the console and hopped on before it started levitating again. She sat down on the levitating coach, feeling soothed by the motion it makes.

“If this is just the console room, who knows how the rest of it looks.” Allen said as he studied the ceiling. He then looked towards the door which went to the corridor and went up to it and through

“Come here you guys, you need to feel this coach.” Sam said and they all made their way to the platform. They were surprised at first. They had never sat on something that can fly before. They were all relaxed, even Vincent. The time went quickly by before Allen came back with a tray.

“I made us some tea.” He said as he placed it down on the levitating coffee table. Allen gave Sam a cup and she took a sip.

“This is delicious! Owen, you’ve got a rival.” She said with a chuckle as they all took a cup.

“Your skills in tea making in perfect.”  Owen commented, his tea cup already hidden behind his tentacles. Ood do have mouths, how do you think they eat? They just didn’t have vocal cords. The Silent also have mouths, which was a big surprise for Sam for it looked quite odd when they revealed their mouths because it was a round, black mouth.

“This is relaxing.” Sam said, a little while after. A few agreed.

“You know what, tomorrow we’re all going to Midnight. What do you say?” Sam said, but it was a rhetorical question. When she wants to go somewhere, they go.

“Alright then. Midnight it is.”
