23. Consequences

THE NEXT DAY

"Do you have my gear ready?" Logan pats the pilot on the back of his shoulder.

"Yes, sir. It's in the storage area." He responds, putting the plane on auto pilot.  Logan nods walking towards the storage area. "I'll take the next shift, you go get some shut eye."

"Two days left, sir. Don't worry, we'll get there." The pilot reassures him as he enters an empty room.

Philip begins to breathe heavily, unknowing what to do he takes out his gun in panic.

His heart rapidly paces against his breathing. Cold sweat begins to form along his forehead as his body tenses.

Logan grips onto the knob turning it open. At the last moment, Philip decides to hide his gun in his holster.

The door opens wide as Logan's eyes widen in surprise. "Phil???" He stares down at the sweaty man who had his hands up in the air in defeat.

"Hey...." Philip smiles.

Logan shuts his eyes, trying to make sense of it all. "W-what the hell are you doing here?!"

"Logan, buddy. I can explain." Philip gets out of the room dusting himself off.

"How did you even get in here?!" Logan punches his chest in fury.

"I couldn't man, I couldn't let you go alone. This is suicide!" Philip rubs his chest trying to shake off the forceful punch.

"I told you we were done! I even quit!" Logan holds onto the side of stomach in a wince. "God damn it!" He shouts.

"Look at you, you can't even fight like this. I couldn't just leave my partner to commit suicide." Philip points at his partner's wounds.

"I had back up anyway." Logan hisses.

"You're not alone?" Philip widens his eyes.

Logan shakes his head. "My private pilot is going to help me take down this ship."

"Logan, this is crazy talk! How can one man take down an entire ship? You're not James Bond!" Philip points at Logan who slouches forward in pain.

"Watch me." Logan walks past him, hitting Philip's shoulder with his. "I'm going in, alone."

"I'm going with you." His partner insists. "Trust me, two is better than one."

"We're going to swimming towards the ship." Logan waits for the man to object.

"Swim?! Are you out of your mind? You can't even walk."

"I'll be fine." Logan shrugs. "There's more at stake than myself." Philip stays silent as the room door of the pilot opens.

The man aims a gun at Philip. "Sir?" He stares at Logan for a command.

"It's fine, Al. He's with me." His hand lowers at Al, who lowers the gun. "Sorry mate, can't be too careful these days." He chuckles.

"Haha, no harm done." Philip pats the man on the shoulder.

"Al, when the time comes. Use this." Logan unzips his duffle bag and pulls out a sniper rifle.

Al nods, grabbing the large gun. "Just give the signal."

"We'll have to wait out the plan a little longer. Al, contact the Indian Police Service as soon as you get a signal. We need them when the ship lands at the docks."

Al nods, putting on his headset trying to search for a signal as he turns a small knob on the radio.

Jordan relocates his sister into another room. "Stay with her. I'll be back." He places his hand on Sam's as she nods.

Jordan makes his way into the abandoned room where his sister had been. He could hear his father's muffles  and struggles from the closet.

He slowly opens the closet's door eyeing down at his tied father. "I'm sorry father, but it had to be done." Jordan forms his hands into fists.

His father continues to muffle in an anger some tone. Without warning, his son grips onto his head and bangs it on the side of the wall.

His father quickly goes unconscious, stopping the muffles. Everything goes silent again.

Jordan exits the room, shutting it closed. He makes his way into the office, spotting a worker sitting on a chair.

"What happened now?" Jordan rolls his eyes.

"I'm here to speak to the boss." The Asian man frowns with a fresh cut on his face.

"My father isn't here, he won't be here for a while." Jordan sits on the swivel chair folding his hands on the desk.

"Where is he?"

"Gone, recruiting more workers." Jordan clears his throat. "I'm in charge for the time being."

"Yeah, well this Malaysian bitch did this to me!" He points at the deep scratch on his cheek. "I want something done about this!"

Jordan bursts out laughing. "Something done? You wanted this job, suck it up or I'll have you removed." He waves off the man.

"Wait until your father hears about this! He'll surely put these skanks in order!" The man slams the door behind him.

Jordan heavily sighs, looking at the digital clock on his desk.

I had awoken from my sleep, but Sam didn't take notice. She was quietly sobbing at the edge of my bed.

"What's wrong?" I sit up slowly, touching her hand.

"I'm so sorry."  She hiccups. "I'm so sorry, please forgive me." She quietly pleads, digging her face into my chest.

I stare down at her, dumbfounded. "For what?"

"I did something terrible!" She finally looks up at me with a wet face. "I-I didn't mean for it to happen..."

I stare at her in a questioning manner. "What is it? What's wrong?" I could only ask continuously.

"Jordan and I....We....We kissed!" She exhales deeply. "I'm so sorry Ariel!"

"Y-you what?" I pull away from her. "Why?!" My widened eyes stare at her in betrayal.

"I confessed a sin! I should've just kept it to myself!" Sam places her hands at the sides of her head.

The room goes silent as she slowly stops her weeps. "I like your brother. Ariel." She sniffles. "Please, forgive me. I didn't mean-" I cut her off with a repulsing stare.

"How could you?!" I point at her. "How could you do this to me?! He raped me! He even tortured you!"

"Ariel, please." Sam begs. "Jordan has changed!" My whole body cringes from her words.

"Sam, he's nothing, but a monster. That's all he'll ever be!" I cry. "How could you even say those words to me?! Do you know how crazy you sound?!"

"I know what he did was horrible, but he apologized and I know he means it." Sam directly stares into my eyes. I could see the hope in her, the hope that my brother had indeed changed, but to me he continues to be the same monster from before.

"Just give him a chance. That's all he wants." Sam wipes away her remaining tears from her face.

I continuously shake my head in frustration. "His apology may bring back your fingernails, but it won't bring back my virginity." I try to ease my words, trying to control my anger, my disappointment towards her.

"It was a one time thing, and I feel bad for even doing it! It won't happen again, I just wish you would give him a chance." Her voice eases as if she was pitying me, maybe it was just me.

"What did you think would happen, Sam? Did you think I was going to applaud you for making out with that fuck?! Did you think I would say congratulations?! Because the only thing I can say is that you betrayed me!"

"Ariel...." Sam tries to come near me, but I only push her away. "No, don't. Just leave, please." I place my hands over my face.

Sam nods, leaving me alone as she exits the room.

Jordan paces towards her in a hurry. "Are you okay?" He whispers.

Sam shakes her head, letting her head drop to his chest. "She hates me." Sam sobs. "I had to tell her Jordan, I had to!"

"You told her about us?!" He grips onto her shoulders. Sam only nods.

"Why, why would you do this?! You knew how she would react!"

Sam only runs away from him in tears. Jordan sighs heavily, walking into the room.

"How are you feeling?" He questions.

I hear my brother's voice, but I don't answer. I could feel my stomach twisting from such disgust. "How could you even.....even kiss my best friend?!"

"It just happened." Jordan firmly says. "You're going to blame Sam and I for being human?!" He snaps making me gasp from his words.

"Human?! You're not even close! I thought I could forgive you, but seeing you now only makes me wish I had died." I scoff.

"Fine, don't forgive me. You're right, I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I do deserve to feel human again. I've changed, I'm proving it now to you."

"Jordan, do you even realize what you've done to me? I'm sick in the head because of you! Because of you, I will never be the same person! I will never see men the same way I did a year ago!"  I burst into tears, watching him look at me in sorrow.

"You've fucked up my life."

"You think I don't know that?! Why do you think I'm testifying against our own father?! I regret everything I've done, just remember one thing. I plead guilty." He lastly says before he exits the room.
