22. Forgiven

"Here, you need to eat to gain back strength." The blonde smiles as she scoops the soup into my mouth.

I look down at her casted hands,  I was immediately reminded of what she had done for me. I was the reason she had horrid things done to her, I couldn't feel more guilty than ever before.

"Sam, I want you to know something." I place my hand on her wrist. She places the soup on the nightstand and waits for me to continue.

"We've been through a lot together and I just want you to know that you mean a lot to me. I see you as a sister." I smile as she places her casted hands on my shoulder.

"I love you, like a sister. Hopefully, when we get out of here we could get a place together. I know my brother would get bored of me living in his house!" She giggles.

I couldn't help, but laugh myself. "Sam, can you keep a secret between us?" I whisper making her eyebrows raise, waiting for me to spill the goods.

"Of course!"

"Sam, I really like your brother." I wait for her response. It doesn't take a second for her to let out a squeal of joy.

"Really?! Since when?!" Her cheery smile made me feel like we were normal again.

"Since he saved me. He took me under his wing and kept me safe for as long as he could. I really like him, Sam, I-I love him. Is that a little too much?" I didn't know what to do with these feelings. I could at least poor them out to somebody, I needed advice.

"Of course not! I'm sure he cares about you a lot! Oh my god, I could just imagine a wedding! Mr. And Mrs. Gordon!" She places her hands in the air as she looks up imaging it.

"I don't know. Maybe he doesn't like me at all. He's doing his job after all." I slowly crush her imagination as she comes back to reality.

"Nonsense!" She pouts grabbing the soup from the nightstand. "Come on, finish your soup sis." She giggles.

After finishing the soup, Sam exits the room, bumping into Jordan.

"Jordan, she just fell asleep." Sam informs him.

"I know, but we need to switch her to another room. I don't want anyone going into that room where my father is." He passes by her as she places her hand on his arm.

"Why don't you wait until tomorrow? She's had it rough enough."

Jordan gives in and nods. "Fine." He walks back towards his father's office.

"Jordan, are you okay?" The blonde follows him inside as he shuts the door.

"Okay? I'm far beyond okay. I'm going to jail Sam, most likely for life. Hell, maybe I'll get the death penalty." He sits on the chair beginning to tap on the desk.

"I'm scared shitless. What if something goes wrong? How can we lie about my father's disappearance for three days?"

"Jordan..." Sam tries to comfort him, but he immediately cuts her off.

"No, Sam. You don't get it. I know I deserve to go to jail, a part of me is fine with that, but the other half wants me to run away." Jordan heavily sighs.

"Jordan, do you want to do the right thing? Do you want your sister to forgive you?" Sam walks towards the man slouched on the desk in frustration.

"More than anything." He exhales.

"Then do this for her, for the last family you have left." She places her hand on his back.

"Help me, I don't know what to do. How should we lie about my dad?" Jordan sits up straight again, looking at Sam in helplessness.

"We could tell them he's recruiting new workers?" Sam questions her own words.

Jordan places a phone on the table. "That's his phone and it's been ringing for a long time. It's Phil, he's on the job to kill Logan."

"What?!" Sam widens her eyes. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?! Where is he?!"

"I didn't know, until I heard the voice mail." Jordan holds onto the bridge of his nose. "He's in the private plane with Logan, he's planning an ambush."

Sam starts to hyperventilate. Her face turns pale, her breathing becomes rapid. She can't speak, nor control her shaky hands.

Jordan quickly sits her down on the chair he was sitting in, trying to comfort her he begins to speak to her.

"I know what he did to you. Trust me, he won't hurt you anymore. Nothing is gonna happen to Logan, okay? He's a smart guy. He'll know what to do."

Sam tries to speak, but only gibberish comes out of her.

"You need to relax." Jordan rubs her tense shoulders as she stares into his eyes.

She places her head on his chest. Jordan brings her into an embrace as they stay close to each other for a while in silence.

"I'm going to call Logan right now and tell him that Phil is on the plane with him." Jordan looks at Sam who remains on his chest, and nods.

"I-is it wrong that I like you?" She lowly whispers in a muffle.

"What?" Jordan pulls away In an instant. "I really need to call your brother..."

"I need to tell you, I need to tell someone." Sam stares at him as he raises an eyebrow.

Jordan ignores her and dials Logan. The line directly leads to voicemail. He tries again, trying not to panic in front of the girl that just confessed her liking towards him.

He is lead to voicemail once again. "He's not picking up." Jordan looks at Sam who immediately breaks down.

"Don't get the wrong idea. It went straight to voicemail because we're in the ocean and he's in the air. You know? Connection is bad." Jordan awkwardly tries to comfort her.

"I can't do this anymore!" Sam cries. "If my brother dies, I have nothing left to live for!"

"Hey, stop thinking negative! He promised you he will come, so he will!" Jordan's phone begins to vibrate. They go silent, Jordan picks up and is immediately demanded to speak to his father.

"Phil, why are you calling? Can't you see I have work to do?" He begins to act frustrated over it.

"I've been calling your dad, he's not picking up." Phil whispers into the phone's microphone.

"Why are you whispering?" Jordan looks at Sam who is attentive on what he will say next.

"I'm in the storage area of a plane. Listen, Logan is coming. I need your father to set up an ambush. I can't deal with him alone." Phil tries to explain.

"Why? You still got a soft spot for the man?" Jordan chuckles.

"No, I just don't want to die while I'm killing him. I don't know how to steer a plane! You jack ass!" Philip ends the call. Jordan looks at Sam as they both smile at the change of events.

"See? He won't kill your brother." He places his hand on her knee. Sam nods in relief as the room becomes silent.

"Why do you like me anyway?" Jordan finally asks.  "I'm a sick fuck. I raped my sister, I got her pregnant. How could you like me?"

"Because, you've changed. You're helping us escape, you're willing to go to jail. I know you feel guilty." Sam places her hand over his.

Jordan looks away, unable to make eye contact. "I'm scared Sam, That's the truth. I rather just die, than be in a jail cell with my father."

"Logan can help you switch to another prison. Maybe, you won't get life in prison. You testify and you'll probably get fifteen years." Sam perks up his chin.

"I want to enjoy my last three days of freedom." He whispers. "The truth is, I like you too. I don't know what triggered it, maybe it was your kindness. I'm just very sorry on what I did to you." He grabs onto her casted hands and rubs them.

"I know." She looks down at her hands. Jordan moves closer, while Sam shuts her eyes. Their lips touch, forming into a passionate kiss.
