Mortals Meet Solangelo
I can't remember who requested this and I can't find the comment but one of you requested a Mortals Meet Solangelo, so here you go! I wasn't really sure how to do this one, so I made up a kind of complicated, kind of simple AU. Basically, Camp Half Blood is real in our world and Rick is the scribe and he writes about all of their adventures(he kind of says he's the scribe in some of the companion books, , so that part was technically his idea)so the books exist, so there's still a fandom. Basically Solangelo meets a bunch of fanpeople, if none of that made sense, which I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Also if Solangelo fan conventions don't exist, they do in this world. With all that said, enjoy!
Nico's POV
"This is ridiculous," I muttered, adjusting my itchy brown wig. "I don't understand why we have to go to our own fan convention."
"Come on, Neeks, it'll be fun," Will promised, his auburn wig somehow looking absolutely perfect on him, looking natural and complimenting his skin tone at the same time. "Besides, you were a total fun killer on our last date, so you owe me."
"You took me to some bad restaurant and I got food poisoning!" I protesting, remembering the unpleasant events of our last date.
"And who took care of you after that?"
"Fine," I sighed, grabbing his arm as I prepared myself to shadow travel. "But don't expect me to enjoy it." I closed my eyes, letting the shadows wrap their arms around us ad pull us in.
We popped up behind an old brick building, my powers surprisingly accurate, despite the fact that they had been acting up all week. I stumbled the tiniest bit and Will caught me, pushing my wig back up onto my head, giving me a kiss when he was finished.
"All good?" he asked. "Are skeletons about to attack some innocent civilian?" I shook my head, sure that, for now, my powers were stable.
"Don't worry, I'm not about to unleash the pits of the underworld on a couple hundred innocent fans," I assured him. "They're safe."
"Well, without further ado," Will grinned. "Let's begin the strangest few hours of our lives!"
As soon as we pushed open the doors, the first thing I noticed were the cosplayers. Half of them wore an orange Camp Half Blood tee, jeans and a string of pony beads around their necks while the other half looked like a vampire had vomited on them, with skull tee shirts, ripped black skinny jeans and some ridiculous black wig that looked like a dead raven.
"I don't really look like that, do I?" I muttered, watching someone apply eyeliner thicker than Will.
"Hey, I think my fans look pretty good," Will smirked, shooting finger guns at a particularly good looking boy who almost perfectly resembled Will on a daily basis. The boy flashed him a sly smile, taking in Will's cute dimples and good physique.
"Stop flirting," I hissed, dragging him to the back of the room, where a girl wearing a home made Solangelo For Life shirt sold plushies of us.
"Oh, Death Boy, you know you're the only one for me," Will said, drawing me in for a kiss. I rolled my eyes.
"You're such an idiot," I snickered, planting a kiss on his forehead. "Come on, lets walk around."
We saw solangelo mugs and solangelo notebooks and cupcakes decorated with suns and moons. There were copies of us everywhere, small inaccuracies in every one, whether it be a brown haired Will or a tan Nico.
"You okay?" Will asked, grabbing onto my arm when I stumbled on air, nearly face planting on the hard linoleum floor.
"Yeah," I muttered, staring down at the floor. I saw tiny cracks beginning to shoot out from underneath my feet, getting bigger with each passing second. I stomped my foot, the cracks receding back to my feet. Will glanced down, his brows creasing in worry.
"Should we go?" he murmured. "I bet Chiron's dealt with powerful magic going haywire before; he can help." I shook my head, taking his hand and leading him behind the stage, the only empty place in the building.
"Just give me a few minutes, I'll be fine," I promised, sitting down on a turned over wooden crate. "I've experienced worse."
"Are you sure?" Will had quickly gone from everyday boyfriend to overprotective doctor boyfriend.
"We don't get to go out a lot, and I know this is important to you. I'll be alright." Will nudged my shoulder, pointing down at cracks snaking from my feet.
"Well, what are you going to do about those?" I yelped, frantically stomping my feet in a futile effort to draw them back in. They opened up, several skeletons climbing out.
"Grab them!" I gasped, lurching out my arm, grabbing one of the skeleton's by its bone. Will threw himself at one of the others, tackling it.
"Did we get them?" he panted, kicking the disassembled skeleton into the pit that lead to who knows where.
"I think so," I sighed, tossing my skeleton into the pit. "Besides, even if we didn't, the mist should cover it up. I'm too tired to go after it."
"So, what do you want to do?" Will wondered. "We'd have to shadow travel back to Camp Half- Blood, and I don't want you doing that with your powers in their condition."
"Let's just rest," I decided, crawling down to the cold floor of the stage and pulling Will down with me. I tugged off my wig, tossing Will's to the ground along with it.
I had only been asleep for five minutes, Will softly running his fingers through my hair when I heard voices, footsteps coming up the side stairs, drawing closer to us.
"I swear, the skeleton came from here," insisted a high pitched voice.
"It ran straight into the thick of the convention, why were we the only two who saw it?" This voice was deeper and gruffer.
"Ooh, maybe we're, like, mortals who can see through the mist!" That was the first voice again.
I bolted up from my spot on the stage floor, Will already sitting up and alert.
"What do we do?" I hissed. "If Chiron finds out about this, we're not going to be able to leave camp for the next millennium!"
"Oh my gods!" The higher voice squealed. The two people had somehow snuck up on us without us noticing, and the girl selling the plushies and the Will cosplayer Will had thought was cute were both standing in front of us.
"It really is you!" The boy said in an awed, hushed whisper. "When we saw the skeleton we hoped that some kind of magic was going on, but you two... you look exactly like Nico and Will! I always knew you were real!"
"Listen, I think you have the wrong idea," Will said, pushing himself up from the floor. "We just have a very scary resemblance to Will and Nico." I tried to stand up but I tripped, putting my hand out to stop myself from hitting the floor. Tendrils of darkness shot out of my fingertips, the air taking on a foul stench. The fans' eyes widened, all doubt that we we were mortals gone from their minds.
"Not helping," Will complained.
"I'm sorry! You know I can't help it!" The mortals were still gawking at us. "You can't tell anyone about us," I begged, desperately trying fix the situation.
"Of course we wouldn't!" the girl said. "But you have to do one thing for us."
"What is it?" Will asked, clearly relieved that the two of us hadn't exposed the entire world of demigods.
"Will you answer our questions?" the girl asked, pulling out a custom made solangelo notebook. "I run an ask solangelo page on tumblr, and I'm running out of material."
We talked to them for hours, getting surprisingly close with Angie, who was the girl and Spencer, who was the boy. We told them about Camp Half- Blood and in turn they told us about high school, something I had never experienced.
"Who do you think the cutest couple at Camp is, besides you two, of course," Angie asked, a wide grin on her face.
"I don't know," I said, glancing at Will. "We have a lot of cute couples, but I'd have to say the cutest one is Mr. D and his diet coke." Everyone roared with laughter, and Will glanced up at the wall clock nervously.
"Nico, I hate to bring this up, but we have to go," he sighed. "Chiron said we had to be back by ten. Are you feeling up to shadow travel?"
"Depends. Are you feeling up to taking care of a passed out me for twelve hours?"
"Always," Will grinned, pulling me up from the floor. "It was really nice meeting you guys."
"Hey, one last thing before you go?" Spencer asked.
"Anything," I responded.
"Could we have a selfie?"
"Of course!" Will smiled. The four of us posed for Spencer's camera, and I flashed bunny ears behind Will's head.
"If you're ever near Long Island, stop by Half Blood Hill," I encouraged as I took Will's hand, preparing to shadow travel. "I'll be passed out for the next twelve hours, but feel free to drop by any other time. We have nowhere else to go, so we'll be there."
We waved goodbye as Will and I faded into the shadows and as I felt my eyes close I couldn't help but think about what amazing things had come out of a case of powers gone haywire.
Hi guys! I definitely think my writing quality could have been better on this one, but it's been a super busy week and I'm really tired. I'm sorry that I couldn't remember who requested this, but feel free to comment if it was you. I hope you liked it!
Nina
