Awkward Double Date

When they got there, they saw Dex and Biana. But she also saw Fitz and Linh.

"What are you doing here?", she asked Fitz, putting her hands on her hips.

"Nice off the shoulder dress there. Showing it off?" he asked scanning her up and down.

"Yes. I never thanked you for that, by the that by the way", she smirked. She wasn't letting him get to her.

"Thank him for what?", Biana asked, confused.

"Oh, he never told you? Look at my right shoulder. See the scar?" Biana nodded.

"I told Fitz that I wanted to be with Keefe, not him. He got mad and pushed me into my bed frame, which cut my shoulder." She looked at Keefe. He nodded.

"Fitz, is this true?", Linh did not seem happy.

"I would never do anything like this. She's lying", he tried.

"Is she? Or are you? How long have we known Sophie? When has she ever lied to us?" Keefe argued. Everyone nodded. Sophie was glad to have Keefe by her side.

"So, Fitz. Let's try this again. Did you hurt Sophie?" Keefe tried.

"Fine. I did. She wouldn't be with me and chose Keefe instead. She made the wrong choice and that level of stupidity made me angry. Happy?" He asked snarkily.

"I won't date someone who hurt people because of some silly reason! Goodbye Fitz. Sophie, will you hail me later? I want to talk to you," Sophie nodded. She hadn't talked to Linh in a while. Linh collected her stuff and before she left, she splashed water in Fitz's face.

"This isn't over." He said to Sophie as he went after Linh. Yes, it was, bust Sophie wasn't going to tell him that. She sat down with Keefe across from Dex and Biana. They had a good time, but she was worried about Keefe. He was a lot quieter than usual. She'd have to ask him when they got home. They lasted a couple more hours, but soon Biana had to go home because she had something to do in the morning. She and Dex left after paying.

When they got home, she took Keefe to under the Panakes tree. She looked at him, and he looked away. She grabbed his chin and gently turned his head towards her. He looked her in the eye. She could see that he was scared.

"Hey. Don't let what he says get to you. You're perfect,". He was. He had always been there for her. He cared about her. Not about her powers or her looks.

"You don't think you made the wrong choice?" He asked, so quietly she almost didn't hear.

"No, Keefe. You are a perfect person. You have awesome hair, a great attitude, the best jokes, and you are one of the best people I know. Please, you know I love you.", she held out her hand and he took it. His brow scrunched together. She could tell he was reading her emotions. A second later, he pulled her into a tight hug.

"Thank you. I don't know where I would be without you," She smiled. She loved him so much. She pulled away and kissed him. Only for a second, but she did.

"Good night. See you tomorrow," she waved as she walked back to her house. It was 10:30, so she was early. That was good. It looked like Grady and Edaline weren't home yet. She showered and got into her pajamas. She grabbed Ella, her stuffed elephant and sat in front of Vertina. They talked and talked for hours. They heard Grady and Edaline shut the front door. She got up and went downstairs. They strangled her with a hug and told her to go to bed. She went back upstairs and saw that a note had been left for her on her desk. She smiled, it was in Keefe's messy handwriting. It read:

Dear Sophie,

I wanted to thank you for what you said. You are a perfect person. The best grin, a can-do attitude, you give the best pep-talks, and you are one of the kindest people I know. You're one of the best people in the world.

Love

Keefe

He said, love. He loved her. She was so happy! She ran in front of Vertina and showed her. She squealed with delight. Grady came in to say goodnight and heard her squeal. She showed him her note, and he was also pleased. He asked what she said, and she told him the entire story about dinner. He laughed darkly and promised to hail Alden in the morning, saying that this had gone too far, she nodded. He kissed her forehead and told her to get some sleep. That night, she dreamed of flying on Silveny, and that feeling of freedom allowed her a peaceful night of rest.
