My hands are still shaking when Adeel knocks his father's office, I'm still in shock. All that money and that space in the choicest location in Abuja.

Ya Allah, Ya Rahman, Ya Ilahi. Your love is great, You are the best of planners. You always have a way of putting my worry to shame.

"Ah Adeel, Me kike so." He asks what he wants without lifting his head from the papers he's signing.

"Nabeela is here." He lifts his head and  a  smile widens his face.

"Sit, sit. Don't tell me you are here because of that small gift." I don't sit, instead I fall to my knees in front of his desk. Tears stream down my face. He scrunches his face like a child.

"Adeelu, raise your wife, you know I don't like things like this." I feel Adeel's arms lift me and place me unto the black leather chair facing his father's. I touch my head to see that my veil is still in place.

"If I don't do this for my daughter, who will? Did you think I asked you for  nothing. Dan Karibe is my good friend and all it needed was a phone call. It doesn't call for kneeling and crying. OK?" I nod and tears pool in my eyes again and I squeeze my eyes shut to make them stay.

"What would you do if you really see the gift I had prepared for you." He turns to open a drawer and brings out a file. He place them in front of Adeel who in turn passes it to me.

When I open up, all the tears I thought had dried spring back up. Two percent of the conglomerate  shares. Its equal to saying, you are my daughter and I'm proud to have you here.

"All that I ask, is to love us as much as we love you." I nod my head and he waves us away. Adeel helps carry my bag and I walk slowly out of the office.

"Let's go home. Or do you have something else to do at the office?" I shake my head to imply no and he stops the elevator car. We step in and begin to move.

He adjusts the left cuff of his dress shirt while holding on to my black bag and I do the same to the veil atop my head. I'm wearing a dark green abaya and my scarf looked screwed. I turn this way and that to my reflection in the mirror all the way holding on the balance bar.

Adeel's laughter makes me look up. I carefully finger my scarf in shyness. Was he staring at me the entire time?

*********

On the drive home, Adeel looked at papers supplied by his personal assistant, a man old enough to be his father. He was so respectful to the old man.

My phone chimed and I fished it out of my bag between us.Its a message from a WhatsApp group. "Zarah made a group for us children."

Adeel chuckles and checks his watch. "That girl is so jobless. Wallahi." She has myself, Adeel, herself and two other numbers. I click open the part to see. Capt. Moh  and The Jewel.  Definitely Zeenah and Mohammed Whom I've never met.

"She has put tomorrow night as a day for a sort of sendoff party for Moh and Zeenah." Adeel tsks with his tongue.

"Don't you want to go?" I ask tentatively. He doesn't seem to like the idea.

"I don't want  it to seem like I'm forcing my family down your throat. You've seen enough of them this past week and we've only been married." I shake my head and feel my scarf slip off.

"Its nothing. I enjoy being with them even though its only a few days." He types something on his phone and a moment later a message advising Zarah to face her books comes in all the while accepting the invitation.

My phone rings and I pick with so much enthusiasm, the sound of a breathing hits my ears and I remember that earlier a number had called and dropped. My heart skips a beat and I turn to see if Adeel heard. He is flicking his phone while looking outside lost in thought . I heave a sigh of relief.

"Hello? " I said in a low voice,  that was before I heard a loud crashing sound and the call dropped. Ya Allah!  What was that?  Who could be giving me prank calls?

My heart in my mouth,  I dialed the number again and I was told it was switched off!  What was that?
