Chapitre Vingt Et Un
"Are we carpooling tonight?" Alex quickly asked John at the end of the day, meeting John in the school gym.
"Ugh, don't say that. It makes us sound like a couple of Suburban moms going to the neighborhood junior soccer game," John joked. Alex raised his eyebrows.
"That's oddly specific. Do you have experience?" Alex laughed. John fake shuddered.
"Stop, and never ever make me think back to junior soccer," he pleaded, sounding disturbed. Alex laughed and nodded.
"Okay," he said. "I promise to never ever remind you of it. But seriously, are we sharing a car? I need an answer quick so I can go back and help some kids with the assignment from today." Alex said.
"You're so good to your students," John gushed.
"I'm not good to them when I can't even get to my classroom to help," Alex said impatiently, unknowingly tapping his foot.
"Okay, okay. We can just take my car, if you want," John offered. Alex nodded.
"That sounds good. This assignment is tough, so I'll probably get done after you do. Just come to my room and wait there, okay?" John nodded towards Alex, and Alex rushed back to his room. Sometimes John couldn't help but wonder if Alex thinks of his students like his kids. He wouldn't be surprised.
John went back to his desk and finished out filling the participation for today's gym classes. It only took about five or ten minutes so he packed up his stuff and headed up to Alex's classroom. There were seven or eight kids in there and Alex was going around the room helping them with the assignment one by one. John smiled to himself, seeing the patience and passion in Alexander's eyes. One of the students looked up and smiled at John.
"Hey, Mr. Laurens!" the kid said cheerfully. "What are you doing here?" The kid's name was Philip. He was a boy in John's 6th period art class, always curious and full of questions.
"Mr. Hamilton and I are going to be hanging out after school," he said, sitting down in a chair near the boy's desk.
"Doing what?" Philip wiggled his eyebrows devilishly. John laughed aloud.
"We are going out to dinner, you little monster." The two talked for a while longer until Philip was the only kid left needing help and Alex got over to him. Philip had gotten a few questions figured out, with a little help from John, but still had two or three more. Alex helped him out and Philip got them quickly. Philip started packing up and Alexander looked at John to greet him.
"Are we going to one of our apartments, or supper first?" Alex asked. John put a hand to his chest.
"Just because we're a couple now doesn't mean we stop going to Monday night dinner!" John said appalled. Alex chuckled.
"Oh, calm down. I was just asking a question," Alex said.
"Well, if you must know, I was planning on us just going to Chipotle or somewhere," John said. Alex nodded.
"Yes, burritos sound perfect, burritos will be perfect. Just.. yes." Alex sighed a little bit. John put a hand on his shoulder.
"Are you okay? You've seemed really stressed today," John said. Alex nodded.
"Yeah, today was just a stressful day in general," Alex said. John tried to think of what to say.
"Well, how about we get burritos, and then go to my place, and we can watch cheesy movies and do whatever you want to do that will help you relax," John offered. Alex smiled and put his head against John's chest.
"We've only been dating for a day and you're being too good to me," Alex joked. John tilted Alex's head up and kissed him. "Well, should we go?"
"Yeah, let's go," John said, and they headed out of the building together.
Not even joking, the restaurants they go to is just the food I'm craving when I write this.
