Chapitre Trente Trois

Alexander sat in the room outside of George's office, feeling like a 15 year old again. He knew exactly why he was here. Aaron barely even gave Alex a second glance when he walked out. It wasn't uncommon for this to happen.

"Alexander?" George called eventually. Alex turned around and got up as George gestured for him to come into his office. Alex sat down in front of him and smiled sheepishly.

"Hey, Mr. Washington," Alex tried to start off with small talk but George cut him off.

"Three days, Alexander. Three. Days," George started. His voice wasn't angry, or disappointed even. It was almost.. amused? "Thomas Jefferson has been working at this school for barely even three days, and yet here he comes, striding into my office after school today talking about the nerve of you. I knew you two wouldn't get along, but not this fast!" he was chuckling at this point, and Alex was confused.

"Wait, so you aren't mad?" Alex asked cautiously.

"Not particularly," George said. "I just wanted to tell you one thing. Thomas is absolutely obnoxious. But he can be a good guy when he wants to be," George told him. Alex nodded, and then stopped and looked at Washington.

"Y'know, I have a hard time believing that," Alex said.

"Alex, Thomas told me why you hate him, and all I want to say is that he's changed since college," George said.

"He hurt John... badly. I'll try to put up with him. But, I can't make any promises." Alex and George nodded at each other, officiating a deal between each other that Alexander would try to be civil.

"Alexander, did you seriously just have to go to the principal's office?" John questioned, seeing Alex at the end of the hallway. Alex looked away.

"M-maybe.." Alex cringed. He knew how he could get about Alex getting into trouble like this, especially when it was because of something John had caused. John sighed and walked down the hall to Alex.

"Were you in the office for the reason I think you were in the office?" John asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I mean, yes. But I didn't get in trouble for it. He thought it was funny, actually," Alex tried to lighten the mood, thankfully succeeding. John shook his head, chuckling.

"What am I gonna do with you?" John asked, ruffling Alex's hair and messing up his ponytail. "Where are we going tonight?" John asked. Alex thought for a second.

"Maybe we should just raid my fridge and watch Netflix," Alex suggested. "Unless you have a better idea." John shook his head.

"I don't think there's such a thing as a better idea than Netflix," John said, completely genuinely. Alex smiled and looked up into John's eyes.

"How come you're so much taller than me?" Alex asked John. He shrugged.

"It's not my fault that you're shorter than average and my Dad was a tall guy," John said, putting his arms up in false defense.

"I know, I know," Alex said. He paused for a second, looking at the outlines of his boyfriend's muscles. "I feel like I never see you work out. When do you do it?" Alex asked John. John shrugged.

"Normally in the evenings, on the nights we don't hang out," John said. "Not that we don't get plenty of exercise when we do hang out," John mumbled under his breath. Alex snorted from laughter.

"I'll see you later, honey." John said, rubbing Alexander's arm. Alexander could feel the butterflies in his stomach even after months of dating.
