Chapitre Onze

The next day was worse. It wasn't that it was awkward though. The next day was worse because it wasn't awkward. John acted like everything was normal, but showed signs of amusement when certain things happened. For instance, his tone when Lafayette asked if something was wrong between John and Alex. John said no, but Alex could hear the tease in his voice. Apparently Laf couldn't, though, because he just dropped it.

"Are you going to the Schuyler residence tonight? I think they wanted a sleepover," John asked Alexander, Friday after school. He leaned against the doorway.

Alex pursed his lips slightly. "Mhm," he mumbled. Alex breathed in and worked up the courage to finally ask John the question that had been nagging at him since Wednesday. "Um, John, you said you, uh, had an idea of who wrote you the letter things. Um, who was that?" Alex tried not to stutter, but it didn't work. John didn't seem to notice though.

"You know, I thought I knew who it was, but I'm not sure. I just don't think that person would ever even think about liking me," he said with almost a bit of sorrow in his voice. Wait, had he not figured it out?

"Who did you think it was?" Alex asked, suddenly much calmer.

"You know, it really doesn't matter. Anyways, I'll see you tonight. I'm trying to convince the girls to play Star Wars, but I don't think they're gonna. Maybe you should put in a kind word," John winked at Alex and walked away from his room.

Who did John think it was? And why had he been acting so weird the day before, and even earlier that day. If he didn't realize that it was Alex then he had no reason to be acting so strange. Maybe Alex had been over-analyzing his behaviors. It wouldn't be the first time he imagined somebody acting a certain way.

Before he left he decided to stop by Eliza's classroom and ask her to watch Star Wars tonight. He walked up to the band room, not sure if Eliza would still be there. He was pretty sure she would be, and yet when he went up to her room the door was closed and the lights were all off except for in her office. He quietly opened the door, not wanting to interrupt a lesson or anything and walked over to her office room. He poked his head in and immediately walked out. Eliza didn't see him, but he could so use that against her.

He went down to Angelica's classroom and knocked, regretting what he had just witnessed when he didn't knock. Her heard an invitation in, so he opened it and walked in. He closed the door behind him and walked over to Angelica's desk laughing to himself.

"What's so funny?" She questioned, slightly concerned.

"Oh nothing... except for the fact that I just saw your middle sister making out with Maria Lewis just a minute ago," Alex said innocently. Her mouth dropped.

"No. Way." Angelica's mouth wasn't closing, and it didn't for a few more seconds.

"You okay, Angie?" Alex asked her. She shook her head.

"I always knew that girl was too gay to function, but she wouldn't admit it to me!" Angelica started laughing, then Alex started laughing, and they probably would have seemed completely crazy to anybody who heard or saw them.

"Anyways, I was gonna say that we should watch Star Wars for our Friday night movies," Alex told her, trying to sound persuasive but not too obvious. Angelica wasn't buying it.

"Did John put you up to this?" She asked in an almost motherly tone.

"That doesn't matter, we should still watch Star Wars," Alex told her. Angelica shook her head.

"That man has you wrapped around his finger, and I don't think he even knows it," she chuckled. Alex rolled his eyes and started walking out of the room.

"See you tonight Angelica," he sighed, leaving the room.

"Same to you Alex," she called out.

I feel like this part and the next part are cringey so hopefully nobody reading this does
